Had California king water bed for yrs. When we sold our first house the inspection showed a broken floor joist. We heard waterbeds wont cause that. We assumed it was a weak board and kept the bed. Our second house now has a broken floor joist....Beds gone! Best of luck with owning one. BTW, our home here was built in 1957 and is on 2x10's not 2x8's like most houses and they all look like new because the house has a basement. No weather damage or any other structure issues..They do break joists!
Also water beds are structurally less weight on the floor than a conventional Mattress and box frame because waters beds distribute the weight evenly along the floor joists. I've seen a demonstration of a water bed built and setup on dixie cups before at the local bed store. not too mention they are awesome for your joints even better than that foam stuff
Dig your feet in between the mattress and the foot board and powerslam on that bitch! I get the neighbors complaining because of the slap of the water flow... I love my wb!
@namehere27 I had a used king mat & stuck it under the front end of a full size 4WD Ford truck and started filling it up. the front end came off the ground a few inches until it tore on a bolt. However you can easily push a sharp needle into it! Cats scratching can puncture it. They are easily patched normally. *** I used to name the mats according to how many seconds it took to quit moving. A "semi waveless" may have been a "5 second" bed for example. You could get a soft side water bed ?
@sjjdiienno1 A Waterbed can pretty much hold the weight of any two human beings. While the exact weight is not known, in the old days some waterbed companies demonstrated the strength of waterbeds by having an elephant stand on them. Waterbeds mattresses if taken care of by adding the conditioning agents and cleaning the body oils from the outside should last over 20+ years.
