  • how do you find them in the sand?

  • hey i subbed you should sub back

  • This is sand boa... it lives in sand !

  • How Much Was He? PLEASE RESPONd

  • @MrCsnake13 i believe $60

  • @Kollindyr Thank You

  • @MrCsnake13 I just got one that looks exactly like this. It's a male also. I paid $65. You don't see them very often because they stay buried 95% of the time. Mine usually swims in his water dish once or twice a week. Bathing I guess? But they're pretty easy to take care of, and I haven't had any problems with mine eating like some people do.

  • @TheCor4367 yeah, they are great snakes, you dont see them alot, but imo, kenyan sand boas are good feeders, mine always eats :)

    cheers

  • u live in canada

  • you should use sand it is better for their heat control

  • @Cheespuffguy causes impaction

  • does they need live food or can i feed them with dead

  • @zzzz0313zzzz you can feed them frozen thawed

  • can you make a vid on how to sex them

  • shouldnt you also put in a heat pad

  • @theshiz97 yes, I did, i forgot in the video

  • hey r u going to be at the retile expo on sunday? i am going and i want to buy a KSB i have the tank set up alredy and i just wanted to know how much u paid for it so i know if i can get two or more

  • i have a kenyan sand boa, and his tail is very dull, but his scales are very bright, could anything be wrong?

it also seems like his tail is stiffer than his body.

  • @EO45 very dull? could it be retained shed? very stiff... well there tails are naturally more "rough" but not really more stiff, could you give me more info?

  • i waz thinking abot getting a sand boa but i got a rosy boa

  • arent u suppose 2 put sand inside???

  • its a sand boa, it lives on desert sand, not aspen.

  • @SnakeLover1989 It also doesn't live in a box in the wild or have a for-sure meal every week. Aspen is highly recommended for a lot of species of snakes. Do your research before you comment.

  • Wish I had reptile shows near me.... nice snake...easy to care for... Is he pretty calm when handling?

  • aspen is not bad, pretty general substrate, but Kenyans in their natural habitat burrow in sand, if you are ever in eastern Africa, go to sand area and run your hands through and their will be hundreds of these amazing creatures

  • why tropical?? is desert to hot or what?

  • yeah they malfunction alot...

  • @Kollindyr never heard of the malfunctioning of the dessert under tank heaters. But what brand of uth would you recommend?

  • @liltd87 well zoomed and flukers are ok, just dont get the extra small size of the desert version

  • @Kollindyr Thanks. I want the ExoTerra terrarium (36x18x18), so can I still use the dessert verion? (obviously not the small one though)

  • @liltd87 yes you can

  • where do you put the pad??? under??? im asking cause there was this one dude who put it somewhere different... what about a lamp??? noo lamp???

  • yeah under. use the tropical tho, not the desert

  • what do you do for heating

  • heating pad

  • i heard aspen was bad. or is that only for certain reptiles?

  • @cheeserollinger12345 youre thinking of pine.. aspen is fine

  • would u like to buy an other sand boa for $50 but i come's with tank nd sand nd hides nd water dish

  • i would where do you live

  • cool video how much u pay for him

  • can he stay in there all his life?

  • Very nice, i also own a kenyan sand boa, but i keep it in sand :P

  • nice, and thanks for commenting!

  • oops grammar problems sorry. drunk

  • love these snakes cause they dont mind the easy minimal life. you can tell just by their personality that they would prefer just sitting in sand and eating then having a difficulty surviving. Its also interesting how it seems part of their natured to feel unthreatened by situations that they know they are outnumber in. only thought in their head is "get in sand" haha

  • very true lol, they are very laid back snakes and only need to eat and sleep in the sand

  • does he not need heat?

  • heating pad

  • how ig does he or she get!?

  • They get to about 60 centimeters.

  • Comment removed

  • What size "tank" not tub or box can i keep an adult male in??? I'm in the UK so inches or gallons please.

  • 10 gallon will do just fine.

  • So many has told me that. Personally i don't see it, i have a ten gallon here and thinking they grow to a foot long, makes me feel guilty about keeping him all cooped up like that, but alot of breeders have suggested that, and their snakes must be happy otherwise they wouldn't breed or feed, so thanks again.

  • They don't roam around alot.

They really have no need for a larger tank than that...

  • how big do they get?

  • like 2-3 ft. not to big at all.

  • Males are about 1.5 ft, females 2-3 ft.

  • So confusing, read nearly every book saying i need one, online care sheets say i don't, but thanks i'll get one anyways and see what the old owner used to keep him on when i get him next week.

  • No heat mat, i would really like to know if i absolutly need one, my bedroom is not cold at all, ever where i look it says it needs a heat mat, please and thank you for imformation.

  • Yes you need a heat mat. They are cold blooded and rely on the environment (in your case, your habitat set up) to warm themselves up. With no heat, your snake will snake will have a low metabolic rate and become lethargic.

  • dude awesome music in the intro love hellsing and how big do Kenyan get ???

  • not big, males are about 1 foot, and females grow to about 2 feet.

    And thanks, hellsing does rock.

  • u don't use wood shaving u dummy you are suppose to use sand!

  • You don't use sand you dummy. They inhale it. nice video I love Kenyan Sand Boas

  • Thx!

  • Sand boa's have an evolved snout that prevents them from inhaling/ingesting sand while burrowing...it also improves their burrowing ability....sand is perfectly fine, especially if you don't feed in the cage.

  • Its been since a long time since I've seen your video on my other channel.

I got my snake aspen just because I saw you had it. xD

    thanks though- heloves it,

  • Hey! Yes, I remember your other account nothingmuffins. Hehe, well, I'm glad my advice led to a happier snake - thats always a good thing.

You're thinking of getting a corn snake? How about attending the nation breeders expo this sept 19-20 at the international centre?

  • That sounds pretty interesting.

Maybe, but I probably wont be able to, unfortunately.

I'm probably gonna get the snake in Febuary for my 16'th birthday.

I kind of have to see how my grades for first semester are before I even ask the 'rents.

I really do want a corn snake though. I always have, they're just so amazing!

I know a place I can get them for around 40-60 bucks. They have some nice ones there too, my parents get our snakes mice from their.

    xD

  • I just realised you also live in Mississauga!

We're getting that huge storm tomorrow.. today.

    Are you prepared for it?

  • Lol, apparently not, I didn't know we were getting a storm today rofl.

That sucks you have to wait till February, long time lol, I'd know, thats when my birthday is too! Haha, o well, good luck first semester.

  • XD You didnt know

    I think its tonight.

And yeah, I know. What day is yours on? Mine is the 15. I got a kitten today, though I may not be able to keep her. Shes currently underneath our cabinet sleeping, atleast I hope, shes been there for one halfish hours. XD

  • Mines on the 20th lol.

Kitten eh? where'd you get her?

  • Well, my friends mom wanted to get rid of her and wanted put her into the forest outside our building.

Instead, I made my friend bring her here and told my parents she needed a home.

But now my parents are considering keeping her. I really want them to XD

    Shes the perfect little kitten.

  • Oh no, don't out her outside into the forest. If anything tell me, I have contacts with the Mississauga Humane Society and will arrange something with the kitten.

  • I wont let them put her outside, if they dont want the cat I'm deffinately gonna give her to someone else.

I'll keep that in mind, though! Thanks for telling. If I can't find anyone, I'll contact you.

  • this is kind of important, I might be getting a sand boa soon, do u need any kind of heating for a sand boa?

  • Yes, an undertank heating pad.

  • one more and what about them together...what size tub for both of them?

  • how much was he??

  • $85 CDN

  • cant u even afford an aquarium

ur keeping him in a plastic tupperware ftw

  • Actually I can afford an aquarium, either way I would have chosen a plastic tupper ware for the KSB anyways. Nice and easy, and keeps the temp under control. They actually do better in these.

  • what about heating

  • Undertank heat pad, small.

  • cant that burn the plastic on the bin?

  • Not if it's the smallest one. Works perfectly fine.

  • how much was it

  • $85

  • He's so pretty :) Are you going to use a heat lampor anything? Will he need a heat lamp or anything? Or are you just going to keep the room tempurater high enough?

  • under tank heater

  • can you do an update on this ?

  • ow much did it cost if you dont mind

  • i have a collumbian boa... not red tail, im getting 1 in a few weeks im getting a sand boa!!! :) so cool

  • how old was it in the video ? adult?

  • Nah, still a baby, a few months old

  • Ok thcx, because I might buy one in the weeks comming, I just hope they get as wide as cornsnake oder wider . =)

cause I love fat snakes =)

  • Get a female then, the males stay alot smaller...

A female will be thicker than a cornsnake.

  • Ok thx very very much =9 and by the my nice video !

  • hey i have one they are great pets mine is orange and blue somehow

  • Orange and blue? Wow, that's pretty unique..

  • beautiful snake...thats the kind im getting this summer

  • Nice!!! Hope you find a nice one...

  • lol tend to burrow thats a joke i had one for 10 years and i never saw him on the surface unless it was time for him to eat

  • u should put the hut under the aspen instead of ontop he probably will use it more.

  • He's always under it regardless, so it doesn't make a difference.

  • wouldn't play sand be better?

I want to get one so whats better aspen of sand?

  • Aspen. Sand is more expensive, and can cause more problems if not used correctly...

  • i mean like some very fine play sand from a hardware store

  • how much did u pay for it

  • $85

  • aww he is so cute :3

i want one, but i already have a ball python and a red tail boa so my dad said i can't get anymore animals xD

how big will he get?? and does the handsome feller have a name?? :3

  • Not big at all!

About one foot is the average size for them... females are a bit bigger.

And yes, his name is OJ :O!

  • no sand? would aspen be a good idea to put mine on.

  • Yep, best recommended substrate for KSB's... better than sand.

  • Awesome man.

    5*

  • Thanks

  • Yours is adorable! So cute! I wish mine was as friendly. Shes very afraid of us.

  • Thanks, I'm sure yours will be alot more open as she gets more accustomed to you.

  • hey i just wonder is the Kenyan sandboa a good pet, I have never had any snakes as pets

  • Yes they make great pets...

    Very friendly...

  • what size mice should a 10 month old KSB be eating on?

  • Rat pinkie, fuzzy mice, around that size.

  • ok cause my friend wont listen to me and move his to something bigger its still eatign reallly small pinkies

  • Any particular reason why? As long as he's feeding a meal the same size as the girth of the snake he should be fine.

  • idk the pinkie just seems really really small for it to be eating,,,,

  • how much was he because ive been thinkin about gettin a sand boa and how big where they at the expo?

  • In canada it's about $60-$80

USA is about $30-$40 maybe cheaper

    They were all babies.

  • has it ever bite you?

  • Never, and if he did, it wouldn't hurt.

  • what about a light or lamp for heat. my friend has a sand boa and has one.. i was just wondering if they are necessary..?

  • Not necessary at all, they do not require lighting, nor do they require heating from a light.

As long as their is some form of morning night cycle, ie, in a room with a window, the KSB should be completely fine.

They spend most of their time burrowed anyways!

  • okay thanks! im going to get my KSB tomorrow.. im so excited!

ill probly be here again to ask more questions since im a little new to this.. oh and great video btw =]

  • No problem, I'll be here to help as always :)

Oh and good call on the KSB, theyre awesome.

  • ha like the World Without Logos intro, cool snake, I've been thinking about getting a Kenyan lately, right now it's just me and my Variable kingsnake. =)

  • Haha thanks... yeah, you should get a KSB.

  • ha I did end up getting a KSB actually I got a pair, their fun =] both females.

  • Good choice man

  • Ya. You won't need the hide

  • Yep, you sure won't, but what surprises me is he actually uses the hide often, so eh, why not? If he likes it then it stays.

  • you are stupid you bought a SAND boa and put him in ASPEN! STUPID!

  • Are you kidding me? Do some research before you go chirping on someone.

Contrary to what ignorant pricks like you think, the Kenyan Sand Boa (Eryx colubrinus) don't primarily live in sand.

Thus, aspen proving to be the better substrate, not to mention compaction and all.

    Please, GTFO noob.

  • I agree with Kollindyr & believe he owned you in the argument.

  • dude i was kiding the boa is beautiful and you dont need to be so harsh god damn it hoe! XD you are a bitch cock face!

  • Hey I have 1.1 Kenyan Sand Boas. The Female just ate for me today but the Male did not. I am going to leave the live pinkie inside the Kenyan Sand Boas tub. Yes they are babies and are housed in 6 qts seperately. Any advice if it doesn't eat by tommarow morning?

  • Well, it's fine if he misses one meal, but if he misses several meals then you'll worry about it then.

Snakes tend to skip meals every now and then.

  • Congrats on the new herp!! KSBs are great snakes, so cool looking...

  • Thank ye!

  • Thats a pretty snake, I'm hoping to get one o those in the not to far future:)

  • Haha great! They are awesome snakes.

  • ok can someone reply to this asap, i have a beardie and hes fun to watch eat and cool to hold but hes always so jumpy, so i can get a sand boa, theres one at the store, and i can sell my beardie to get it cause my mum hates snakes, so its beardie or snake, which one?

  • Beardies tend to calm down as they get older, how old is your beardy?

I'm sure you CAN sell your beardie, but is that the only reason for doing so?

  • well you see i really prefer snakes, and i kinda jumped to buying my beardie cause my friend and i just got new ones, so yeah, i know they calm down later but i kinda prefer snakes like i said

  • Make sure it's alright with your mother, in the end it's your decision.

  • lol yeah shes cool with the snake idea now so im getting the snake withing the month

  • Great!

  • I know i need a heat light but do i have to get anything else ? like lighting wise

  • No heat light, just a heat pad.

  • A heat pad ? oh i thought i had to use a light,

but i read that they're not that great to use..since they're stuck on with glue and its hard to clean...or something like that. So im not gonna need anything else right..just the heating pad ? cuz i thought i had to provide like a regular light

  • They burrow half the time.

A heat pad a thermostat to control the temperature.

  • Thanks a lot, Im waiting for the November one so badly...I did my research..That expo best not get canceled :P

  • How much did you buy it for ?

lol sorry for all the questions btw

  • $85

  • Is it possible to house them in a Rubbermaid container ? even when their older ??

  • Yep, just get a larger rubbermaid and they'll be fine.

And ask away, I enjoy answering questions :)

  • Im waiting for the one in November, if you go to that one as well can you give me tips on which one to pick ? lol

  • Haha sure, I'll probably be going with a buddy, I'll help ya out. Keep in touch.

  • alright sick i just didn't know if you'd think i was some sort of stalker or anything..lol

  • cool sand boa, really nice!

  • Thanks :)

  • great sand boa, glad to see another video

  • Haha thanks!

Yeah, I have been really busy lately :|

  • Very very nice!

  • Thanks Gary, appreciate it.

  • kool :)

  • Thanks.
