I would have been like 3 seconds a lap faster. I would have flatted turn one and the line under braking for T5 doesn't even matter to me because I don't brake for 5. I'm that fast, Matt.
hi i am very new to all this track racing and i always wondered, when someone does hit you is it like if they hit u on the streets and they have to pay for it or is it if you get hit its your problem
Nope. If you are hittee, the hitter is is not financially responsible for reparing the damage. The stewards may apply a fine/penality, but any fines do not go to the team that was hit.
actually i race at mosport all the time, and depending on your car, going up into 5a in the middle of the track braking is sometimes the preferred line. I'm in a formula vee so the line is outside, but I find majority of the touring cars take a line into that corner, especially under braking, in the middle area of the track. they can take much more speed through 4 doing that as they don't have to fight to get back all the way across the track.
Thaaaaaaaank you... SO many people thought I was blocking there, definitely not. I did "control the situation" on 2 but I actually even left him room on T3, if he wanted it, he could have it! All he had to do was wait the extra second to go by on the straight.
Derek Lynch does not own Mosport. It's owned by Don Panoz. He also owns the IMSA series ALMS (American LeMans Series). Which is why the ALMS is runthere every year... it's only Canadian appearance. Myles Brandt operates Moport for him. I work at the track.
This is Matt Bell. Those Golfs are VERY fast in a straight line, but that's about it. My car was hit so hard that it actually knocked the radiator off its mounts and cracked it.
VonTripps:
That actually is my line through there, a few people do take it. You can give up entry angle of T5 by bombing through T4. Our brakes are good enough that we can really be aggressive there. I did that lap after lap until I was hit.
Apologies for my opinion but I've done enough racing to know that you were off the line only slightly (corner was still yours from what I can see) but that's always enough for a rookie to see the F***ING Grand Canyon. It's bad luck but the rookie should still have done better. Keep an eye out for him next time, not to square up but to keep as far away from him as possible because he will do it again!
Thanks... I had a great time driving there. Keep in mind that without spectators, we'd all be out of a job! And Brendidero: You're wrong... if you can beat me under brakes there, I'll believe you.
