  • Again, what a great tutorial, this made me appreciate programming on a new level, first time I have really understood all of these different objects and what they can do, now I can start making my own few small patches! Again, thank you very much!

  • Hi. It's in the centre inlet of the noteout. i did it again to be sure. the MIDI signals were being sent to cubase when I checked. I guess that all means that there's a problem with the computers synth.... thanks for your time.

  • I'm getting no sound from the makenote/noteout objects. the ezdacs work. can anybody please help?

  • @rasputindonie With the patch locked, double-click on the [noteout] object. What does it show you? If you're working on a mac, the AU DLS synth (which is actually a GM sampler) should appear in the menu. Select that and you should get sound output. On a PC I'm afraid I'm less sure. You may need another software synth open on your computer that you can route to internally. If that's open when Max is open, its inputs/outputs should appear in the [noteout] list.

  • @MUST1002 thanks for the reply. That AU DLS is already highlighted. This is a MIDI signal isn't it? does that mean that I have to use another software to convert it to another format?

  • @rasputindonie Hmm. If the AU DLS synth is available, it should work. And yes, you are sending MIDI data out of the [noteout] object which is controlling an external synth (i.e. the AU DLS Synth is not part of Max/MSP).

Just a thought: is the right-hand outlet of your [makenote] object connected to the _middle_ inlet of the [noteout] object (which is correct) or the right-most inlet (which is incorrect!)? This is a common error so I thought I'd ask...
