I also use the Murad Post-Acne spot lightening gel - but I found it cheaper than you mentioned. You said you paid $67, but I got it at TheBeautyPlace for about $52. They're the cheapest for this stuff online and carry all the top lines. Just FYI :)
Usually scrubs aren't good for acne prone skin as acne skin is usually really sensitive too.
I use Purpose clear gel wash twice a day, it gets off make-up pretty good & very gentle. Then I use benzaclin. I use Boots Organic Rosewater & glycerin for moisturizer/toner since my skin is too oily for a moisturizer. I use Physicians Formula compact (orange w/pink) SPF50 since sunscreen gives me zits or stings my face. Sometimes in winter (NY=cold) my skin gets a little dry I use Complex 15 for faces.
Does this skin care line taste bitter? I know thats a weird qns, but after you use it and you run you tongue along your mouth, does it taste bitter? because i'm using the Chanel skin care line, and it has like..loads of chemicals in it and it taste bitter afterwards... :X and it costs about SG$600 for the whole thing. what a waste of money :X
i used this product and my eyes became swollen and puffy, and my whole face was dry and burned and was itchy.. CURRENTLY actuallly. ): I dont reccomend this AT ALL.
If it's a home remedy you're looking for, the use of several substances is common. Most home remedies for acne scars contain one of these substances: lemon juice, lavender oil, coconut oil, vitamin E, olive oil, green tea, sandalwood, teatree oil, rosewater, or peppermint leaves. I've found a daily application of lemon juice with a twice daily treatment of vitamin E oil works pretty well.
For more severe scarring (such as ice pic, atrophic, and hypertrophic scarring), dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, subcision, punch excision and grafting, fillers, and steroid injections can be used if necessary.
There are a couple of different medical treatments and home remedies for acne scarring. If you can get to a dermatologist, chemical peals, microdermabrasion, or prescription creams can be used (azelaic acid treatments are supposed to work well, but from personal experience the itching/tingling sensation isn't worth it). Topical hydroquinone treatments used to be available here in the states but the FDA eliminated them due to the possibility that the treatment is a carcinogen.
@holbrooke7 I bought the Acne Complex. I was breaking out more after high school than when I was in hs. Murad AC active ingredients are salicylic acid & sulphur.
Sometimes Dermatologists/Doctors will tell U 2 stick w/treatment for 3 mos to see if its really working. Sometimes U break out more, aka purging, before U see results.
I'm telling U all of this because I broke out worse from the Murad. I used it for too long, hoping the whiteheads on my chin would go away & couldn't get money back.
@holbrooke7 I have scars now from picking, yeah I kno it's bad but I get ocd when I have whiteheads, they are too noticeable....so it's partly my fault but I am allergic/sensitive to salicylic acid and it gives me zits worse.
I gave up on the Murad and went to the Dermatologist, used 5 different meds at once, 4 a year. Now I use benzaclin ('script). I had Retin A but it can make me break out unless I use the other Rx's w/it but it helped the scars be less noticeable. My skin is much better now.
I have a lot of acne scarring too. I'm one of those who tried Proactive and the only thing it did was dry out my skin and it didn't clear the actual acne.
The best products to exfoliate our skin DON'T have abrasive grit, they have fruit acids to break down dead skin so it can be washed away!
Sometimes the grit will damage your skin which causes an increase of oil production.
If you like a gritty sensation in your skin care try the clay mud from the Dead Sea, it is awesome! You just paint it on, let it dry then rinse it off!
have u ever tried the teen skincare line by ddr? cuz ive also seen those in sephora and i was wondering if they were similar or ones better or ones worse etc etc
Hi Leesha, I have sensitive dry skin. The only skin care I have tried so far that doesn't irritate my skin is Cetaphil. I use the gentle facial cleanser and the daily facial moisturizer and have had no problems. Every toner I have tried gives me breakouts, so I don't use a toner. Cetaphil makes my skin feel so soft. I also use the moisturizing lotion on my body and it makes my legs so soft. I enjoyed your review of the Murad. xoxo :) Carla
anyway, i just had a quick question. my problem now is the same as yours, i used to have pretty moderate acne, but now my face has cleared up (aside from a few small breakouts here and there) .. but i've been left with a lot of acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. however, i have extremely sensitive skin, so i always have to be really cautious about the products i use. is the murad line okay for sensitive skin? and the post-acne gel aswell?
Hi leesha! ok I know this is SO NOT RELATED to the video but I just wanted to randomly ask if you still have your industrial piercing? LOL sorry for the randomness I just wanted to know..kinda missed seeing it x)
i had the same thing happen to me whenever i would complain to my friends about my skin. They would always tell me not to wear to much makeup or to wash my face twice a day, and it really felt like a slap to the face because although i took good care of my skin, other people got the impression that it wasnt clean. its not a good feeling
Acupuncture is also meant to help as my auntie does it, the only problem is it can be expensive and doesnt work on everyone. But if you have the money i would suggest trying it at least a few times because it can be good to wash out toxins and helps with many other things to :)
I already have my routine developed, but this was a great, very real review! I think I want to try the moisturizer - it is probably high quality (Murad) but it is less expensive than their $40 oil mattifyer. Thanks!
I've been using proactiv for about 2 months now and my skin cleared up fast in about a month and I had almost no irritation but then I started not to scrub and rub it into my skin for as long as I usually did and I broke out in some spots but it's overall good
I used the original Murad products, but found them too harsh on my skin. After trying numerous different products, I realised that it was because I was using so many products that they were drying out my skin and causing more spot inducing sebum and thus more spots. I now use a product called Liz Earle Hot Polish and Skin booster tonic and moisturiser . Almost clear in two weeks. Less sometimes is more :) love the videos :D
i love murad stuff! ive been wanting to try the new clean scene stuff but i havent yet ive just used the original stuff...but its expensive! worth it though
the skincare ive been using is the body shop tea tree line. My skin type is oily and i have acne and this line does wonders for my skin! im uploading a video tonight about it!
Your skin looks great and you bring up some great points about acne and skin care. However, I hate Murad. I moderate a huge skin care site and Murad spammers are in every corner. I really dislike their products and company.
I definitely need to start taking care of my skin. I'm always too lazy to take my make up off at night. I have periods that I really take care of it but then I just get lazy again :p. I have pretty easy skin but it can get really dry, especially in the winter. I don't even know why I'm telling all this :p. Maybe just to remind myself that I really need to do something about it lol.
I'd really love to try the Murad line, but unfortunately for me (someone who has had terrible acne most of my life), it has about 3 ingredients that I'm allergic to; zinc, salicylic acid, and sulfur. So frustrating : (
I love your videos. I'm trying to make a portfolio to showcase my makeup skills but for some reason my makeup doesn't look as good in pictures as it does in real life. No matter what I do it seems like my camera is just not picking up the colors or something??? do you have any tips when it comes to makeup photography? the pictures you take of your looks are always so fabulous!
i really loveeee Clean and Clears' Deep Action cream cleanser!!! it is awesome! i call it the miracle face wash lol. you can feel it cleaning your skin, that cool fresh feeling. it comes in different types oil free, sensitive skin, original etc. i get mine at Walmart for not that much.
I have blackheads on my nose, chin, and a bit on my forehead. I've tried a lot of stuff and they just won't go away. My cousin's wedding is in a month and I really would love to have clear skin. What do you recommend?
@Princesscrownmakeup with an exfoliator all youre trying to do is get rid of the dead skin that builds up over time, and if youre not digging it into your skin or using it too often, highly abrasive scrubs are fine and effective if your skin isnt too sensitive. the key is just knowing how much is too much :)
The line looks really cute, what are the main active ingredients?
I find that alot of acne lines have very abrasive exfoliators, which will only inflame pimples more. Although for blackheads harsh exfoliators are bloody amazing. Using two different exfoliators might be the go ^_^
you said products for your face and hair will wear off over time cause you get used to them... does make up remover work the same too? if i use the same make up remover for a while will it start to die down and not work?
@xbunii Your skin won't get used to make-up remover because make-up remover doesn't actually do anything to your skin. It just takes off makeup. So you can use the same make-up remover forever, really.
Oh god, these are so expensive. I've found some products from Murad that I could use (not the ones you recommend, but some from the line for sensitive skin?), but I won't be able to afford them till like I graduate from university and find good job. Well. ;d
I really reccomend you trying those products out. I'm in school going to become a dermatologist and I've researched those products, heard about them and tried them myself and they really work well. The NeoStrata helps clear up acne scars over time.
I really reccomend you trying those products out. I'm in school going to become a dermatologist and I've researched those products, heard about them and tried them myself and they really work well.
do you know of any really good products for minimizing larger pores? and even covering them up? mine make me really self conscious and i know people don't even necessarily see them, but i know they're there and it drives me crazy.
@mhatgen PPLLLEEAASE, try the Estee Lauder Idealist Serum. It's amazing for minimizing pores. It smells great and makes your skin feel like butter too. :)
Murad literally SAVED my face. I'm at an acting school and all throughout the day, with workouts and all, I would get sweaty and it would be just so horrible for my skin. Murad cleared everything up in like 2 days, tops. I still use it. :D
Same thing happened with Mario Badescu for me too!
It worked great for like 6 months and then It just didnt work anymore :(
I just decided to try proactive...some far its working awesome and I got a awesome 30 day free trial for sheer minerals which I have to say i really really like.
@dedgrlsdance2000 Im using proactive too :) My skin ist really different, but i dont have bad skin. Only bad thing about my skin is maybe blackheads and that my t-zone is really shiny. But i love proactive, cuz it makes my skin really soft :)
what's the difference between murad acne line and clean scene by murad? i got the starter kit from the murad acne line, it had 4 products in it. the kit lasted me 3 months and the products didn't do anything to my skin at all...
An amazing serum for hyperpigmentation is Cauldale's veritaserum. It's also pretty pricey but it lasts forever and I got results within a week's time. And all you need is a drop morning and night. I also love products from Origins, especially the toner, skin brighteners and moisturizers. It's natural, smells good, and great for sensitive skin. I had my makeup professionally done for a friend's wedding and the artist thought I already had foundation on. That's how good my skin looked. : ]
hey! so what did you feel the difference was between the other murad acne treatment line (the one that goes with the toner that you use?) how different are these new acne murad products to the original acne murad line? please reply :)
Wait, unfortunately I don't have enough money for a kit--Do you think just using an anti-acne (i.e. Murad or Mario Badescu facial wash) would work alone?
@Masquerade671 The people that are being afflicted with the serious diseases they list on those commercials don't show symptoms for up to 20 years after taking accutane, not while they were actually on the drug. I took it 10 years ago and I worry if it could someday effect me. I love what it did for my skin but I advise people to talk to their Dr seriously before making the decision.
@nikkiraquelle I and my brother took accutane and had none of the side effects you listed only very, very, dry skin and hair. Our skin has stayed clear for 10 years. Allthatglitters21 and her sister took it and she has a video titled 'How I Permanently Got Rid Of (my?) Acne' in which she said it worked for them also.
most of my acne has cleared up by using a prescribed acne cream called "duac". It got to the point where it was just really upsetting me. but i also use clearasil face wash. that's kind of my routine. oh and Olay moisturizer. but even though i barely have spots anymore, i still get the odd one or two but the scars and little dots left behind make it look like i have acne still. plus my foreheads still very oily meaning i feel self-concious with my fringe back :(
Saw this line at Sephora and was tempted, but passed them up. I think I'll be getting them now. But, I like really abrasive scrubs, too. So, I'll take a pass on the "glow" one.
i used to mix sugar with cetaphyl cleanser. it's really gentle but the sugar exfoliates. but as she said, your skin gets used to something then needs to change. the best stuff ive found to clear acne up fast is proactiv's lotion. it's not their repairing lotion, it's in a smaller bottle and came as a gift with what i ordered. i dont remember what it was called but i loved it.
Like 2 months ago, my mom got me Murad. I have to say that it worked so good on me. Not even a month after using it, my face cleared up. Where I live, they have it at Ulta.
i have always had really acne-prone skin, and even though i ALWAYS wash my face, have tried many medications, and even gone on a strict -no-makeup diet, the ONLY thing that has really really helped my skin is drinking water. my acne scars lighten so much faster, my pimples have gotten smaller and less regular, my skin is naturally hydrated without beign oily, and it is smoother. I definetely recommend drinking lots of water!!!! :) it has helped soooo much!
I have a lot of scarring too, it's horrible. Tinted moisturizer is god for that luckily, but it still sucks to feel like your face isn't quite there yet though you're trying hard. I would try it out, but I'm scared to try it with skin sensitivities. I use Ahava products (think that's to do with Murad) and I've had very good luck with it. My face isn't clear, but if I try using something else my face goes to hell again lol
I was using Mario Badescu stuff after your recommendations, it worked AMAZING for me, for about 2 months, now it seems like my skin got kinda used to the products and doesn't work really well... I am looking for another good line to try, maybe I will try these :)
And also Acne Serum by IQQU (from Michelle Phan) really works for me as well, I was using it, then stopped and used Mario Badescu, and now since the Mario products do not work, Acne Serum works again :D
I got the 2 treat repair, age spot and pigment lightning gel, is that the sane as the podt acne lightning gel??

@Princesscrownmakeup with an exfoliator all youre trying to do is get rid of the dead skin that builds up over time, and if youre not digging it into your skin or using it too often, highly abrasive scrubs are fine and effective if your skin isnt too sensitive. the key is just knowing how much is too much :)

I know its an acne line, but is it gentle enough to be used on dry skin? To help prevent any possible acne? lol. I'm not particularly acne prone.

The line looks really cute, what are the main active ingredients?
I find that alot of acne lines have very abrasive exfoliators, which will only inflame pimples more. Although for blackheads harsh exfoliators are bloody amazing. Using two different exfoliators might be the go ^_^

you said products for your face and hair will wear off over time cause you get used to them... does make up remover work the same too? if i use the same make up remover for a while will it start to die down and not work?
xbunii 1 year ago
@xbunii Your skin won't get used to make-up remover because make-up remover doesn't actually do anything to your skin. It just takes off makeup. So you can use the same make-up remover forever, really.

isnt that wasteful if you take all of the make up off right after a tutoriallll?? awww

Oh god, these are so expensive. I've found some products from Murad that I could use (not the ones you recommend, but some from the line for sensitive skin?), but I won't be able to afford them till like I graduate from university and find good job. Well. ;d

Spectroderm Cleanser
NeoStrata Toner
NeoStrata Oil Free moisturizor
BEST SKINCARE ROUTINE EVER.
I really reccomend you trying those products out. I'm in school going to become a dermatologist and I've researched those products, heard about them and tried them myself and they really work well. The NeoStrata helps clear up acne scars over time.
Message me if you want any information on them :)

do you know of any really good products for minimizing larger pores? and even covering them up? mine make me really self conscious and i know people don't even necessarily see them, but i know they're there and it drives me crazy.

PurrtyCat83 1 year ago 2
@nikkiraquelle I and my brother took accutane and had none of the side effects you listed only very, very, dry skin and hair. Our skin has stayed clear for 10 years. Allthatglitters21 and her sister took it and she has a video titled 'How I Permanently Got Rid Of (my?) Acne' in which she said it worked for them also.

most of my acne has cleared up by using a prescribed acne cream called "duac". It got to the point where it was just really upsetting me. but i also use clearasil face wash. that's kind of my routine. oh and Olay moisturizer. but even though i barely have spots anymore, i still get the odd one or two but the scars and little dots left behind make it look like i have acne still. plus my foreheads still very oily meaning i feel self-concious with my fringe back :(
Live4DreamMusic 1 year ago
Saw this line at Sephora and was tempted, but passed them up. I think I'll be getting them now. But, I like really abrasive scrubs, too. So, I'll take a pass on the "glow" one.
kermitfrog70 1 year ago
i used to mix sugar with cetaphyl cleanser. it's really gentle but the sugar exfoliates. but as she said, your skin gets used to something then needs to change. the best stuff ive found to clear acne up fast is proactiv's lotion. it's not their repairing lotion, it's in a smaller bottle and came as a gift with what i ordered. i dont remember what it was called but i loved it.

i have always had really acne-prone skin, and even though i ALWAYS wash my face, have tried many medications, and even gone on a strict -no-makeup diet, the ONLY thing that has really really helped my skin is drinking water. my acne scars lighten so much faster, my pimples have gotten smaller and less regular, my skin is naturally hydrated without beign oily, and it is smoother. I definetely recommend drinking lots of water!!!! :) it has helped soooo much!
mypixielove 1 year ago 2
