  • I want Heafy to go back to screaming. His singing is just not good. I miss Ascendancy and Ember

  • @taxiturtle In the In Waves album hes screaming again, like Dusk Dismantled, Drowning in Slowmotion, etc..

  • @jowblow2 True but I just don't think they've managed to get the quality back since Ascendancy. That was just the album quality they haven't managed to reach again

  • @taxiturtle very true

  • Well., reload ur ears for next Trivium songs.

  • @richiesaw just came new album and ur already waiting for next... ME TOO! :)

  • Ha! That solo is fucking insane! It made me giggle like a school girl.

  • Every time i listen to this, or any Trivium song. my respect for Trivium, triples and doubles to no end. This shit never gets old

  • this album is easily in the top 10 metal albums of the 00's

  • Listen to Solo Tornado Of Souls

  • Heafy Metal!

  • that solo does things to me no woman can

  • @MrDoysh121 hellyeah man lol

  • its not "hard" its "heavy"

  • listen dude there is a fighting style that was used in ancient japan times called shogun, which was the emperor's personal fighting style passed down through each shogun. Also if it was greek myth's why is there no zeus or them talking about the gods? so good fight, learn some history :)

  • @Avengd7xfold Nice try dude! clearly, you know nothing about greek mythology. Duh?! Prometheus? Callisto? The Furies? They're all in greek myths. Everybody knows that shogun has everything to do with japan. So stop being smart and just enjoy the music.

  • @Avengd7xfold You clearly need to learn some mythology before you even try to make an argument. Prometheus was a Greek titan, Callisto was a nymph of Artemis(a Greek goddess) and The Furies were Greek deities of vengeance and Scylla and Charybdis are also from Greek mythology. Kirisute Gomen and The Calamity are probably the only Japanese things on the album(besides Matt). The Calamity is from Final Fantasy 7, a game from Japan that Matt is a fan of and Kirisute Gomen was a samurai saying.

  • @devilydevil And because I ran out of characters I better add in Shogun is also about Japanese stuff before someone gets angry :p

  • @devilydevil And let's not forget Down from the Sky is about Japan getting nuked by the USA.

  • @devilydevil Down from the sky is about the armeggedon - the biblical ending of the world.

  • @liambrawley My bad - thats apocalypse not armeggedon.

  • @liambrawley Lol, nuclear holocaust.

  • @devilydevil learn to play this song then and post it on youtube if your so smart, smart ass

  • @Avengd7xfold Playing the song has nothing to do with being smart, dumb ass.

  • @devilydevil Kiri sute Gomen (3 words) translates to something like "forgive me whilst i strike you down" my translation is a little off i think but i'm not japanese so cut me some slack :L.

and Matt is half Japanese at that, i always thought that wasn't really enough to entitle them to use the name Shogun but the songs were good so who cares.

  • @Avengd7xfold Shogun is no fighting style numb nuts, the emperor was also not typically trained to fight despite the ceremonial swords some chose to wear, the shogun was a land owner in Japan who serves the emperor in the same way that the prime minister in the UK serves the Queen. The Shogunate ruled over land owners named Daimyo who occasionally took each others lands and built up stronger armies in order to make themselves Shogun. It's not a martial art in any way shape or form.

  • Solo Remember My Solo Tornado Of Souls

  • I think 4 people are deaf

  • 3 people cannot brave through the storm.

  • I think he says, "I pain so heavy it could collapse". I clearly hear a "v". Anyone else hear it?

  • @iluvenmetal heavy I could collapse*

  • @iluvenmetal

    is right.

  • trivium is the fucking shit! the best!

  • who but the fuckin dislike button on this!!!!!!

  • i love mythology and im pretty sure prometheus is one of the best ones....

  • @olivermustangbone No it's all about prometheus you idiot.

  • @wavyshadow101fanboy Its comparing the pain and suffering they both went through for the betterment of mankind. You idiot.

  • @wavyshadow101fanboy no thats bout right( prometheus wasn't on a crucifix, he was chained on a rock)

  • trivium FTW!! (L)

  • the crucifix is about Jesus. This song combines both history, prometheus and Jesus

  • @blitzkaton i know it sounds cool but its just a little random i think thats all

  • fuckin amazing song. i'll never forget the goosebumps i got when i first heard that solo.

  • that's really incredibly amazing ! ... :)

  • I dont like this song. I only like BFMV but I like one song by these guys that is Dying In Your Arms. (:

  • @robinandhayley hey... I also love BFMV

    1.) Trivium

    2.) BFMV

Dying in your arms is also one of my fav songs ^^

  • @ThomasLeto I'd go to a Trivium concert !

  • @robinandhayley ok ^^

  • ROCK ON, TRIVIUM!

  • i think its kinda strange how the album is called shogun but all the songs pretty much have nothing to do with japan. their about greek myths. lol

  • @drjakim Thats not really true. a lot of them are about greek mythology, but what about kirisute gomen and down from the sky.

  • @Qazwsxe789 true but it would make more sense if they named the album something pertaining to the songs instead of the opposite

  • @drjakim Its about Japan and Greek mythology. Down from the sky is about Hiroshima.

  • @drjakim shogun is totally also a car and i dont see any car songs...

  • @AyToNFTW ?

  • @drjakim Kirisute Gomen

  • @drjakim most of the songs are but like kirisute gomen is japanese and some others

  • @drjakim dont forget about down from the sky, kirisute gomen, and shogun, im more then sure majority of the songs are about japan

  • @feircefull well lets see down from the sky shogun kirisute gomen. thats 3. torn between scylla and charybdis, throes of perdition, into the mouth of hell we march, of prometheus and the crucifix, he who spawned the furies, like callisto a star in heaven, and the calamity. thats 7. might wanna rethink that

  • @drjakim dude, there is 11 tracks, you forgot insurrection

  • @drjakim matt heafy was born in japan

  • @drjakim Still awesome either way lol.

  • @drjakim What do you think the song shogun is about, it's about the emperor and shogun of Japan during the period of time where Japan was using the fuedal system. The song is twelve minutes long so it counts as about four songs :)

  • @drjakim ikr lol exept down fro mthe sky it was about the world lol

  • @drjakim They've always been Greek Mythology pretty much, & Shogun does have some songs about Japan.

Ex. "Down From The Sky" "Kirisute Gomen" & "Shogun".

    All of Japanese Orgins.

  • @iamguitargod666 yea but thats only 3 songs out of idk how many were on shogun. so yea it was the majority

  • @drjakim Kirisute Gomen is actually the way of the Samuai.

  • @drjakim The lead singer is japanese. WikiPedia FTW!

  • @VquuL Half-Japanese. :P

  • @drjakim well assuming every band picks a song from the album and titles it for the album name, shogun was their choice but the song shogun easily has lyrics about war and a shogun is a commander in japanese

  • @drjakim what about Kirisute Gomen, it about japan!

  • wow i dint expect people to like my comment :P thank you

  • Come on guy's listen to some opeth.

  • Best song on the album!

  • Fucking lyrical genius

  • god damn these guys are good!!

does anybody knw when their new album gets out??

  • @zepplin4ever

Probably a little later in the year than Shogun did. Meaning like, November - Febuary '11. Which fucking BLOWS, because I can't wait. lol

  • BEST BAND ON EARTH! Trivium4Life

  • @TriviumSweden yeah thats true!

  • @TriviumSweden i wouldnt say that ha

  • i must say one thing: AWESOME!!!

  • Its not "cross I bear", Its "curse i bear"

  • @N1ghtw1sh1

It's "cross I bear" as it's a reference to the title of the song, the "Crucifix" part specifically.

The only lyrics I can see that are wrong is "A pain so hard I could collapse" should be "A pain so heavy I should collapse"

    Anyway, great song

  • @free2pzwn

Whoops that should say "A pain so heavy I COULD collapse" not 'should'

    My bad :S

  • this is awesome song realy awesome, and in part 1:48 that guitar thingie is awesome! The whole song is awesome!

  • I love the story of Prometheus, I always find it interesting, thanks to God of War II of course ;D

This is a fucking sick song, wish they'd play it live someday.

  • what is the meaning of this song

  • @PSNgamer101 its referring to the greek god prometheus who brought fire to man and because of which he is to be tortured daily by an eagle eating his liver and it regrowing. its comparing prometheus to jesus

  • I simply <3 this song :O

  • the song must be named "of JESUS and the crucifix" the story is the same.. however the song is so fuckin awesome!!

  • @clichyx jesus story was copy from the legend od prometheus

  • this is very similar to Jesus's Crucifixion and last supper stroy

  • But it's not talking about jesus at all. 90% of this cd is based around Greek mythology.

  • @ctelias How? Do you even know what it's talking about? All the pain and suffering? That's referring to the BIRD TEARING OUT HIS LIVER every day after he gave the humans the forbidden fire. They use 'cross I bear', not as Christian symbolism, but to show how Prometheus (a Titan, and therefore a GODLY FIGURE) defied the Gods and was punished. lern2fact

  • @GabGhost Good shit sir, good shit.

  • I fucking love this album, one of my fav, songs off it. Just love the Greek mythology this song talks about.

  • @ChaosGod87 sorry but its talkin about jesus

  • ...when did Prometheus get hijacked by Christians!?

when did Jesus give men fire!?

    ...WTF IS GOING ON!?

  • awesome METAL band !!!

  • Oh yea n trivium r fuken awsum did i mention:D

  • These lyrics sound painful. ouch

  • solo is orgasmic...bass chug behind the solo is supreme also...creme de la mon, mate, creme de la mon xD

  • What a band! Geniously graceful. Love their albuns, kick ass song...\m/

  • but in greek mythology hercules ends up shooting the giant eagle and frees prometheus, and yea his liver was eatin everyday while he was chained to a rock and since he is a titan he is immortal and everynight it would regrow just to be eaten the next day

  • i love the way 3:00-3:20 sounds

  • This song is actually amazing. The solo is just fucking killer man!

    TRIVIUM! \m/

  • awesome guitar solo

  • i saw them live 3 time in it was fuckin bad ass everytime

  • i studied greek mythology and Prometheus was a titan who took the fires of Olympus to earth to show us humans, but Zeus stopped him and he was chained and forced to get ripped apart by a giant eagle for the rest of eternity, and everyday he would regenerate so the eagle could eat him =]... btw great song

  • I love that story and love the way this song told the story!

    Trvium !!!

    FTW

  • and if you play god of war...Kratos Freed prometheus :P

  • I thought it was a giant eagle that would peck out his liver and heart? ;O And each day he would have it grow back so the eagle could do it over and over again?

  • yeah like it would just eat out his guts, well his vital organs and every day they would regenerate

  • Its a pain so heavy i could collapse but otherwise awesome

  • favourite song atm hoping to see them live soon

  • Holy shit, this is good! suits the mood of ripping on guitar just awesome party tunes.

  • What's with Trivium and Greek mythology? Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis is also about the Odyssey, which is also Greek mythology.

  • Scylla and charybdis are both Water Beasts and once merged they will destroy all ships that cross there paths

  • Also, they have more Greek mythology ones.

  • dante was italian....the took some songs from "inferno" diina commedia madeby dante who comes from florence...let's say that it is italian mitology and not properly roman^^ so...it can be that it comes from paolo...i just suppose it...

  • 2:16 epicemotionalskilledSoloWIN

  • I love all of triviums songs, but the shogun songs are just.......FUCKING EPIC, Trivium have taken over the world.

  • dude u r on 2 something there. TRIVIUM FTW!!!

  • @iMckellar Ascendancy is a lot better than Shogun. That's my opinion though. I'm a real fan of that shit cause that's what I grew up listening to. None of the guitar techniques I loved in Ascendancy are on Shogun, so that's probably why.

  • isnt it a pain so heavy not hard?

  • Oooooh my favorite Trivium song period ^^.

  • me fuck yes! its very musical alot more focused on music rather than speed or anything else

  • im not totally sure yet, but roughly 3/4 of shogun's songs revolve around greek and roman mythology. this is the story of the prometheus, a mortal who took fire and gave it to man, which was only meant for the gods. as punishment, every day a great bird or vulture ate one of his organs (i think liver) and it grew back every night. the lyric "my flesh is ripped at daily, this is the cross i bear" and knowing is half the battle

  • id say Kirisute Gomen is an exception. that would be connected to Samurai code i believe.

  • yeah that and like "calamity" i think. i havent listened to "calamity" but like twice though, so dont take my word for it

  • wasnt prometheus a titan? agree with the rest

  • In Greek mythology, Prometheus is a Titan, the son of Iapetus and Themis, and brother to Atlas, Epimetheus and Menoetius. He was a champion of human-kind known for his wily intelligence, who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortals. Zeus then punished him for his crime by having him bound to a rock while a great eagle ate his liver every day only to have it grow back to be eaten again the next day.

  • you nailed it

  • He most likely wikied it.

  • some people actually know stuff :D...not all info comes from wiki :P,...well maybe it does in some parts of the world but...i don't wanna think about that

  • Hey this is youtube u can say what u think if u whant to :)

  • wiki is most lies people change the storys over time and i learned all these from my history lessons as also i take history

  • until Hercules rescues his ass

  • lol yea i saw this on hercules the show i believe

  • lol!

  • hercules save him but he dies later from emotional break down since he broke his valha and paid it for his family tree dieing

  • Oooooo I know that myth!

  • @spart3n666

Oh wait, yes, I remember this, I learned this in like, 7th grade. The part with the regrowing liver reminded me.

  • Sorry was wrong it was'nt just eagles it Was also falcons

  • @spart3n666

Greek mythology is quite the fun subject. I'd lopve to learn more about it but there is rather few resources for it around where i live =/

and i recieved a rather unfriendly virus from a site i went to looking for info on the subject lol

  • @spart3n666 It seemes like the Greek's gods, hated human existance.

  • @spart3n666 I'm pretty sure prometheus is the Cyclops and son of poseidon from the Odyssey. And, it would make more sense considering they already have a song named Torn between Scylla and Charybdis, which is also from the Odyssey. Scylla is a 12 headed monster that would kill 12 members of his crew and Charybdis is a whirlpool that would kill all of them. Thumbs up if you learned something :) ****correction, Polyphemus is the cyclops i was thinking of, your right haha, sorry.

  • @dachamp800 ahaha no need to be sorry Im a geek with mythology :P

  • @dachamp800 No dude, prometheus was a titan who took the fires of olympus to men, so zeus, who saw this as a betrayal, made prometheus mortal, chained him to a mountain and condemned him to have his liver eaten every day by a giant bird and then be healed so he would have to endure it day after day.

I got that from god of war 2.

I like this album, theres some really great songs on it.

  • @Macaca91 I know. i typed it all and ran out of charactors to explain. I was gonna say i still gave some interesting information and i myswell not erase it even though it is wrong.

  • @Macaca91 i see where your coming from but history can be chanegd over time so dont trust everything you hear just simply research it and pinpoint the important facts :P

  • @Macaca91 While Prometheus was chained to the rock, he was still immortal and that is why the bird comes everyday, again and again. His liver was growing back each day.

  • @spart3n666 I woulda erased it but its still a nice bit of information haha :)
