I like this. Good fundamentals are shown and practicing alone is the only alternative for many dancers a lot of the time. I almost didn't look at this video because of the word 'clown' in the title..because I know that dancing Tango is
so difficult that I don't find it very funny at present...but this use of the Phantom partner is very innovative and very helpful. thank you!
@nacotete, Thanks for your comment. I'll post more of these drills that dancers can use to practice alone and improve posture, technique and musicality.
The Tango Clown is an idea that was in my head for many years, getting shape little by little.
One evening in Buenos Aires I invite to dance a tanda to a friend of my friend. She was not a tango dancer but I was sure she could follow well. In between songs I told her that for me the experience of dancing had a lot to do with taking everything
Then, something start to happen that gave me another perspective of this idea: many times, when I danced for the first time with some girl, she will end the song laughing. I proposed this frase: "I am The tango Clown - the best complement from my partner is that she laughs at the end of the song".
To take everything that happens in a positive wayy is (as I undertood) what makes dancing what it is.

that happen and, let's say, incorporate it into the dance. She looks at me and says:
- That's exactly what I am working about in my profession.
- And what do you do (was my question).
- I am a clown.
Well, then I took some classes with her because I also was working in a tango clown choreogarphy at that time.

This is the latest encarnation of The Tango Clown. It helps me to show the usual mistakes and misinterpretations.
