@Jac5al Nidoran Female (NOT its evolutions though). To breed more from a Male you - most of the time - need a Ditto. But some Pokémon such as Nidoran are special. When you breed a Nidoran Female there's a 50:50 chance of hatching into either the Male or Female versions. The same kind of thing is true of Volbeat and Illumise.
@Inferno144X Make sure you are NOT getting an egg, saving, hatching, turning off and on then hatching it again. Make sure you either save BEFORE even putting the parents in OR just hatch many, many Eevees. Otherwise, all I can say is keep trying if you're doing everything right otherwise. Remember, it's probability, so you're never guaranteed to get what you want. Hope you get your Female :)
@NintenBeau I had to trade a female from HG because I had hatched 80 to 90 eggs, even when changing fathers. Maybe it was because my DS was not reading a small piece of data correctly. I say this because it has broken to the point of having it's bottom screen blurry, and both screens offcolor. Funny thing is I hatched 2 riolu eggs, and the second one was female.
@Inferno144X Well like I said, unfortunately it still down to probability and nothing is ever guaranteed (as unlikely as it may be to get 80 Males, it can still happen). But I'm glad either way you have your Female :)
@NintenBeau correct me if im wrong but i have a male charizard and if i have understood you right if i don't breed my charizard with a ditto i can't get a charmander egg since the egg pokemon is the same as the mother have i understod you right?
@jonte143 Yes, that's absolutely right. Unless you get a Female Charmander (or its evolutions) you can't breed more Charmanders UNLESS you have a Ditto to breed with your Male. Well done :)
@japannature1 I'll leave this up so that hopefully someone can help you. If you have a Female of Scraggy or Cunchoo you can get a Male Smeargle, make it learn Ice Punch, breed the pair and hatch a Male baby and then you have your desired Male with Ice Punch.
@SnoobYHD Yeah (sorry about that, NinBuzz are doing a rehaul and have taken down content for a while), Serebii and Bulbapedia. You can either look at groups on there or click an individual Pokémon and check out the egg groups or compatibility from their page. Sorry again about that, I think I will change the video description to say this.
@Dsiwarper Thanks for putting this up for those who are unsure. In the other video I do state how Manaphy (and Phione) can breed. Rotom is not a legendary though, so it can breed anyway.
@stabakoder Hey, most Pokémon work with Ditto, if the Day Care is saying something like, "The two don't like each other much" then that is FINE. If he says something like, "The two prefer to play with Pokémon other than each other" then you have a problem. As long as you're not using babies, legends or Nidoran Female evolutions, they will work with Ditto, you just need to run around more to get your egg.
I still have a guestion, I breeded leafeon and ditto right? So I got an eevee from the egg and it evolved into a glaceon and then I tried to breed the ditto with it, but it didn't work so I'm starting to think that if I breed ditto and machamp, it won't work. Is that true?
@Th3lastsong That is curious, I mean Ice Punch wouldn't work because the Machamp would need to know it but if you are definitely trying a Female Electabuzz + Male Machamp with Cross Chop you should definitely get Elekid with Cross Chop. Unless you're playing a dodgy version of the game or either Pokémon is cheated for I would be stumped.
@529mt I think I taught a Smeargle Wish and bred it with a Female Eevee, and I've had lots of Eevees with Wish afterwards by having Male Eevee with Wish + Ditto. It does have lots of suitable partners with Wish but all of those need Wish breeded on them in the first place too (which sucks). So Male Smeargle with Wish is best (using Sketch).
i tried breeding a an adament weavile with and everstone with a perfect speed iv ditto. I gave weavile everstone and ditto power anklet. The sneasels always had perfect speed but in 6 eggs i still didnt get the adament nature. Did i do something wrong?
@zenmodeman If your Weavile has Adamant then it should work. But I have a suspicion, have you gotten an egg, saved the game and then hatched it, turned off, turned on and tried again? Make sure you breed lots of eggs OR you save before even putting the 2 Pokémon in (it seems odd to get 6 perfect IVs in a row and not the nature). But if you're doing all the right stuff, then all I can sa is keep trying, as it is a probability, not guaranteed :)
So let's say I have an espeon tht has it's dream world ability, it's female. I put an everstone on it and it breeds. So then it will have a chance of inheriting a dream world ability correct?
@darkmastercookie Because it's a Female DW Pokémon and you use a suitable Male (not Ditto), the baby Eevee will have a chance of inheriting the DW ability as well. By having the Everstone, the baby Eevee will then have a chance of inheriting the Espeon's nature too.
dude you know if you want a starter egg you have to have a ditto and a starter and keep it in the day care and use your bike to go to castelia and back so if you choose infernape and ditto you will get chimchar but it has to be the last evolutaion of your starter
@stormruler1 If you watch my previous guide you'll know that's not the whole truth and that you are generally wrong. If your Starter is Male then yes you need a Ditto, if it's Female however each has many suitable partners. Also, you can breed Chimchar, Monferno AND Infernape, not just the latter. In general, if a Pokémon can breed then its whole evolutionary family can breed too (minus baby Pokémon liike Magby, Azurill etc and random things like Nidorina/Nidoqueen).
is there a way to increase the chances of an egg hatching and having a certain gender (other than AR codes), or are the chances for a pokemon's gender that was hatched from an egg the same chances of being male or female the same as if the were found in the wild? I'm trying to get a female Snivy but i'm not having the best of luck
@yinyangdragonx Most Pokémon have a 50:50 gender ratio, however, some are more likely be Female (such as Skitty) and many are more likely to be Male (some random things like Machop) and Starters have a 1 in 8 chance of being Female. Breeding doesn't affect gender. All I can say is keep trying my friend. Just make sure if you're saving the game, hatching the egg and turning off and on that way, save BEFORE even creating the egg, don't save once you've got the egg.
@pokemasterowen There's not really such a thing as good in this case. If you wanted a Taillow with Aerial Ace then that is incredible. But well done on successfully breeding and passing on a move.
@pokemasterowen Yeah that's good, as the guide says, TMs and HMs from a Male get passed onto the baby if the baby can learn them (and most of what Swellow gets from TMs, Taillow gets too).
@NintenBeau ohhh im training right now and my taillow is now a swellow and i caught my other party im thinking of teaching some tms to all of my pkmns

@kidwizzcomdy You have to get those Pokémon from trades with friends or from your other DS games (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver) or from the Pokémon Global Link Dream World (though the starters you mentioned are currently unavailable, but lots of old Pokémon that are otherwise unavailable ARE on the Dream World.
@Games2view Not a new one. I had been thinking of doing a Black/White one, as I do have a system. But there are some other videos out there. I haven't watched them, I don't know if they use what I use for continued money filling or whether they just use the one off Relic things that pay off loads (I spent all of that money so I needed more). But I find videos hard to make at the moment, so we'll see.
@Games2view Yes. Unevolveds can breed with evolveds. I tend to use the term 'Baby Pokémon' for a certain group. Things like Snivy, Pidove, Cubchoo aren't babies. Babies are pre-evolutions introduced in later generations (Magby, Elekid, Budew, Munchlax, Wynaut etc) or certain Pokémon you receive as an egg (Togepi, Riolu). Basically, if you're unsure about baby status etc, put the 2 Pokémon in and check what the day care man says about their compatibility and go from there. Hope that helps!
@xsabirx I think you need to read the guide and watch the videos again, as this is exactly what they answer. But the general idea is if you want X with a certain move (or moves), get a Female X and a suitable Father that knows the move(s) and breed them together, then you will get a baby X that also knows the moves.
@xsabirx Correct. Otherwise breeding would be a very random process and you could end up getting moves you don't want or not getting moves you do want. By having the fathers know the move it controls what the kids have. Pokémon like Arbok are good when it comes to breeding Fang moves, if you have some Heart Scales and go to the Move Relearner.
Ok i was breeding two blazikeins with speed boost and they were Very Compatable the daycare man said so when i hacthed the egg it was a torchic with BLAZE :( what did i do wrong
@ChrisThaGr81 Don't worry. If you had a Male and a Female (who had Speed Boost) that's wonderful, remember that there's only a chance the Dream World ability passes on, it's not guaranteed (the Father could be anything else compatible). Bulbapedia says the chances are 60%, so just try again and again and you're more than likely going to get it very soon if you keep trying (remember to breed a new egg each time or SAVE before putting the parents in day care).
@ushotmeikillu1 That means you need to do more of the game first. You probably only have a few badges. I can't remember which city it is (I think it was Nimbasa), but once you arrive you see a scene with a man who gives you the Bike and then he goes back to the Day Care, once the old Day Care Man and old Day Care Woman are both there, you'll be able to put 2 in.
@Hydroluster It's kind of random, I'm not 100% sure myself. But basically when you meet a Pokémon in the wild there's a small and random chance you may catch it. My advice is to trade with lots of people on the GTS, with worldwide/online/forum trading, A LOT of people have PokéRus these days and if you trade a lot, chances are you will receive something with PokéRus at some point.
@Hydroluster PKRS is a 'disease' called PokéRus that doubles EVs. This is a good thing (so don't worry, make sure you spread it and put a Pokémon with it in a box to preserve it). Without explaining what EVs are (feel free to check my old EV guide & video) this basically means you will get stronger, faster. If you have Ditto and a Starter Pokémon, just keep running around, they WILL make an egg, it just takes time as the original guide says.
@5teelPulsE Make sure you watch the prequel video to this, it would explain that 'Don't seem to like each other very much' is actually still a good thing. It's only if the Day Care Man says '... they prefer to play with Pokémon other than each other' when you've got a problem. And the only times Ditto doesn't work is you've got it with a legendary, Nidorina, Nidoqueen or a baby Pokémon (Pichu, Magby, Riolu, but not things like Chimchar and Pidgey).
im a newb at breeding so i have one question. Ok so lets say i want to breed a female togetic and a male minun. So in order to get a togepi with nasty plot and serene grace, the female togetic has to have serene grace and the male minun has to know nasty plot? thats really all i want so i can level up the togetic i get into a badass togekiss but if you have any other advice to help me please reply i really need it im a newb at breeding pokemon lol. and thanks for the vid you helped me a lot!
@SpecialSweeper48 Very glad to help. Breeding is incredibly useful and when you know lots of good tips and tricks with it, you can be very creative and get some awesome monsters on your team!
@ShayminUser001 Thank so very much :) As much as I'd like to be able to help people more, I really do not know anything about IVs, not properly, I get the basic principles but that's it. So basically I don't think I sit in a position where I could lecture people about it because I don't really know myself. Sorry, Bulbapedia is helpful on this kind of thing though.
@ShayminUser001 No thank you, sorry I'd find it hard to do and am on a bit of break from making videos at the moment. There are also many more reasons. But I encourage you to research into the matter and make one yourself, especially if nobody else has done a video on it, because then it will be unique and therefore might get quite a few views :)
To sum it up, you get the 1st evolution of the female pokemon, inherate most of the moves from the father. If both the father and the mother can learn the same move via level up/TM the baby will always learn the move(s). Getting the right nature is tricky. You just have to keep hatching eggs until you get the right one. It's teadious but worth it in the end. Nice breeding tutorial Beau!
@ViewtifulBeau Thank you, and a very nice summary! Yeah I normally have better luck with natures but with these examples the trick generally failed (and I realised in the editing phase that I never even put the Everstone on Snorlax, whoops!) Thanks again.
I've been trying for every competitive pokemon I make to have max IVs in 4 stats... It's already hard matching up the nature, ability and IVs... If egg moves come into play, too... it'll be a complete nightmare :((((( i'm pretty terrified :( but nice video :D
@Manectric7 Hey! Thank you! Egg moves aren't random though as this video shows, they're controlled and they're 100% predictable, you can tell what moves a baby will have before it even is created. But I agree, I find getting a good nature, ability and often gender (so I can rebreed moves) hard enough to get and the probability of that is low compared to getting even 1 max IV, let alone 2, 3 or in your case 4. Best of luck!

Er sry NintenBeau , I just ask how to get PokeRus?
Hydroluster 5 months ago
@Hydroluster It's kind of random, I'm not 100% sure myself. But basically when you meet a Pokémon in the wild there's a small and random chance you may catch it. My advice is to trade with lots of people on the GTS, with worldwide/online/forum trading, A LOT of people have PokéRus these days and if you trade a lot, chances are you will receive something with PokéRus at some point.

@Hydroluster No problem!

What does PKRS means? How long does ditto make egg with my starter?
Hydroluster 5 months ago
@Hydroluster PKRS is a 'disease' called PokéRus that doubles EVs. This is a good thing (so don't worry, make sure you spread it and put a Pokémon with it in a box to preserve it). Without explaining what EVs are (feel free to check my old EV guide & video) this basically means you will get stronger, faster. If you have Ditto and a Starter Pokémon, just keep running around, they WILL make an egg, it just takes time as the original guide says.

why doesnt my ditto get along with pokemon in the daycare?
5teelPulsE 6 months ago

@kingcj000 Hey, I responded to your personal message about this to get more detail in. So this question HAS been answered.
NintenBeau 6 months ago
thanks! i really had no clue how to breed. This really helped alot!
SpecialSweeper48 6 months ago
@SpecialSweeper48 Very glad to help. Breeding is incredibly useful and when you know lots of good tips and tricks with it, you can be very creative and get some awesome monsters on your team!
NintenBeau 6 months ago
This was incredible!
I appreciate you doing this for us. Makes it a lot easier to understand. But, now from a competitive standpoint, can you make an IV breeding guide?
ShayminUser001 6 months ago
@ShayminUser001 Thank so very much :) As much as I'd like to be able to help people more, I really do not know anything about IVs, not properly, I get the basic principles but that's it. So basically I don't think I sit in a position where I could lecture people about it because I don't really know myself. Sorry, Bulbapedia is helpful on this kind of thing though.
NintenBeau 6 months ago
@NintenBeau: Would you like to collaborate on an IV breeding video then? I know quite a bit about IVs, but not so much about breeding.
ShayminUser001 6 months ago
@ShayminUser001 No thank you, sorry I'd find it hard to do and am on a bit of break from making videos at the moment. There are also many more reasons. But I encourage you to research into the matter and make one yourself, especially if nobody else has done a video on it, because then it will be unique and therefore might get quite a few views :)

@NintenBeau it did thank you :)

ViewtifulBeau 7 months ago
@ViewtifulBeau Thank you, and a very nice summary! Yeah I normally have better luck with natures but with these examples the trick generally failed (and I realised in the editing phase that I never even put the Everstone on Snorlax, whoops!) Thanks again.
NintenBeau 7 months ago
I've been trying for every competitive pokemon I make to have max IVs in 4 stats... It's already hard matching up the nature, ability and IVs... If egg moves come into play, too... it'll be a complete nightmare :((((( i'm pretty terrified :( but nice video :D
Manectric7 7 months ago
@Manectric7 Hey! Thank you! Egg moves aren't random though as this video shows, they're controlled and they're 100% predictable, you can tell what moves a baby will have before it even is created. But I agree, I find getting a good nature, ability and often gender (so I can rebreed moves) hard enough to get and the probability of that is low compared to getting even 1 max IV, let alone 2, 3 or in your case 4. Best of luck!
