  • So Beautiful !

  • What mastery and insipration, once again, from Ennio Morricone! I viewed this music in a different light when I learned that the priest at the root of the true story, from which the movie is derived, played the Marcello concerto to the Indians in that one scene after he reaches the top of the falls. That, in fact added to the wonder of this music, even though I am a fan of the original Marcello concerto. Forza Ennio! Best ever movie De Niro ever played in!

  • De niro looked like jesus in this movie.

  • This is the most uplifting movie soundtrack I have ever heard..marvellous.

  • sometimes this tune has kept me alive,,,,,,,

  • Powerful.

  • Simply one of the best and most masterly of film scores so far composed. Wholly appropriate to the film, the combination of the three themes in counterpoint in this conclusion emotionally stunning and musically exciting: the music stands strongly on its own as well. A truly great film composer.

  • I like Italian movies, because they are authentic. They breath life. Novecento, La vita e bella, Fellini. It is the upper upper top. Add Ennio Morricone like in Once upon a time in the West of America and you have the top. Just leave upper-upper. Top is just enough :-)

  • magnifique !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a depth of story and song! Thank you to all who made this my "Must Have"!!!

  • I know someone that told me her friend has a birthday and was sent this music, and was told to go to the top of mountain and at sunrise play this loudly on her birthday! This was the first time she heard this song! Can you imagine how beautiful that would be!!

  • @VenusInPisces Your description is lovely. And in fact it reminds me of my own introduction to this music. I was in the back of a car being driven by friends across the Alps from Strasbourg to the Mediterranean, around 1990. I had been sleeping and I woke up just after sunrise, seeing the snow-covered peaks and breathtaking views, while hearing this divine music. I was confused, but it was like I'd woken up in Heaven. My then-girlfriend bought me the CD, which I've loved ever since.

Gracias Pa.

  • Unfortunately, the indiginous Indians of the Americas still struggles to survive to this day due to economic enlsavement - polluting their homes to search for oil, encroachment on their lands to cut down trees. Then and now, it's best to leave them alone.

  • @PaternosterXVI

I am adopted from Paraguay and was one of the last babies to be adopted. I am the native indian there, Guarani. This movie and the combination of Ennio's music have filled my heart with passion and hurt.

The music expresses the strength the Guarani have. If you close your eyes and listen to just the music, you can feel and live the fight the Guarani fought and still are fighting.

  • @mlindy23 Amen and God bless.

  • This beautiful music is heaven

    It cleanses you

It Inspires you to do good

    Gives you hope.

  • Very Excellent Music! If you get the chance, pick up the DVD, it has an excellent, behind-the-scenes documentry on the making of the movie

  • With an orchestra, the Jesuits could have subdued the entire continent...

  • We've come so far as a species but we still always do evil things... Why?

This song makes me think and be grateful for the good things in the world.

  • I was so lucky, 'cause I could listened to this song last night LIVE! It was a wonderful concert here in Chile! Ennio Morricone forever! :D

  • No Matter What Is Hapening In This World....Keep Believing!!!!

  • "We must work in the world, your eminence. The world is thus."

"No, Señor Hontar. Thus have we made the world . . . thus have I made it."

  • The LORD must be the same for all of us and we all have love for each other , but we SERBIANS ask ourself wher is our place on this world

  • I hope that when we come to the end, that a sound like this will eaze the pain. Whenever I listen to that, I ask myself how could we go so far and not do everything to respect eachother.

  • So, your Holiness, now your priests are dead, and I am left alive. But in truth it is I who am dead, and they who live

  • I listen to this song, and I wish it were ten minutes longer

  • this is the best musiv i agree

  • This is heaven on earth:)

  • @jesseholtjr Definitely , Morricone is the man who made Heaven music on earth !!

    Gracias Maestro !!

  • My spirit soars with tears in my heart when listening to this piece.

Why such devine soul and evil streaks are interwined in the fabric of our humanity?

  • É LINDÍSSIMA MUSICA. FILME MARAVILHOSO

  • Yea the Oscars might be fun but I honestly can't pay much mind to them knowing they didn't award Ennio Morricone Best Original Score for "The Mission". It is one of the best soundtracks of all time IMHO. Certainly the best for that year...... Morricone is too good for the Oscars I guess :D

  • May I never forget The Mission: to help the helpless, to quicken the sick, to hold the forgotten and to spread love to the furthest reaches of the earth...

  • yep, EPIC!

  • EPIC MUSIC !!

  • Ennio Morricone still has not won an award for "Best Score". This song lost to some mediocre jazz band song back in the '86 academy awards. RIDICULOUS! Is there any reason to this? Hundreds of songs like these and no credit.

  • @KingVerac There is a reason - the depravity of fallen man. Good will called bad and evil good. That pretty much defines the popular culture and it's tastes.

    --Bill Virginia, USA

  • @KingVerac ALL MONEY in those awards .....whichever wins most awards will bring in the most money for the film , so the VOTES are worth hundreds of thousands . and the mission didnt have a very high budget .

  • @KingVerac MONEY , bribes . the most awards will gross more publicity and cash for the FILM . the votes are worth hundreds of thousands . Big publicity . K- PAX is one of the best ive ever seen , but i had never heard of it till I saw it . (i dont know , but I imagine it didnt get publicity through awards ) its all cash

  • I´ve touched heaven

  • so great!

  • A work of genius. One of the greatest of all movie scores.

  • Words are insufficient to describe how ethereal this is.

  • Hearing this music makes my heart swell to such proportions I feel as though my entire life is at once shaken and fortified at the same time. O Blessed God whoever thou art thank u 4 the yearning I continue to have to touch ur face :)

  • sounds like some angels from heaven gave him the notes to this piece

  • da brivido....

  • Sin comentarios, hermosa... sublime!

  • great movie, great music

  • Without the help of any visual on a television, monitor, or screen, this song helps me see the world that we live in. Both good and bad, but mostly the beauty.

  • My eyes are welling... for the beauty this brings into my heart

  • E os anjos, digam amém! \O/

  • Epic.

  • no words to describe... only tears

  • @The30YearOldVirgin When you hate, the first person that you hurt are yourself. One can´t be slave of the passions. Of course we can chose what to feel whit reflexion and interior life. I hope you undertand my bad english.

  • Absolutely beautiful

  • maravillosa!!!!!

  • This was the best movie ever made. It lost all 10 academy awards to Platoon. However, this movie says it all. The priests and brothers sided with the Indians and fought against their own kind-the Europeans, to keep the Indians free of slavery. It is heavy duty truth. If you stand up for truth you might not win--at least not right away.

  • @The30YearOldVirgin Not necessarily. Unfortunately people are allowed to be bigots, but just being a bigot is fine. Saying anything based on your stance (for example) on gays. 6 gay teens commit suicide a month, because of people saying how bad it is. Now, if those people were bigots and didn't let their position be known that'd be fine. But those teens are dying because they're being hated for something they can't control. Which is wrong, horribly wrong.

  • OH MAN PLEASE TAKE NOTE , LISTEN, TAKE HEED, LOVE TO ALL

  • @The30YearOldVirgin We should forgive, because God forgives us.

  • Great... it sound inside the soul

  • If there is a god he is a very benign god.

    Thanks Ennio for this masterpiece.

  • I only hope, heaven is as good as this music, if I ever get there.

  • G-R-A-N-D-I-O-S-A

  • A wedding song

  • Stupendous! There is hope for man after all!

  • What a beautiful film in every way and Ennio makes this, and god knows how many other films, very special...

  • @The30YearOldVirgin I like bigotry, and i like tyranny, But witch one is best? There's only one way to find out!!!!

  • better than hans zimmer

  • This music is pure beat heart, each time I listen to it, tears rule on my face... I am so sad that humanity does not manage to find the inside peace's way... The human being should not be such selfish, hateful, angry... I would really like to tell my children we have done it, the world has become healthier, no war at all, with people living in harmony together... The future is unclear... and so we are... Fortunatly, Hope is in my heart, like in that wonderful music...

  • @The30YearOldVirgin There is no peace without forgiveness- if you want to hold on to a grudge go ahead, but it will eat you up from the inside out.

  • I do not have any religion, but I DO believe in God. He has loved me enough to give me the chance through His son to save my life. I should try to forgive other people because He has loved and forgiven me for being a sinner. Loving and forgiving is hard but we are able to. It is not like a racing, it takes time.

  • @clebermaximo

I do not think that there is God out there. At least not for us.

  • @aaaaa895 Why not? I would like to understand your point of view... I had blessings in my life and had known of some in other people's lives. I cannot explaing. I just believe.

  • @clebermaximo

well, you have just answered it. you cannot explaing it. that why scientists do not believe in god. it is an entity.

  • @aaaaa895 many scientists believe in god of course.

  • @aaaaa895

Yet titans of science seemingly have been deists...and in many cases monotheists such as Bohr, Newton and Einstein. If any man had a full understanding of the universe from a secular humanist perspective it was Einstein, yet he continued to preserve his own faith...and whats more his own identity as a Jew.

Science has its limitations.....though it is a wonderful tool.

  • @zaxx19

I agree with you in 100% with regard of Albert Einstein

  • @The30YearOldVirgin

Is not forgiving just more cruelty?

  • The film does not show hate. It shows ignorance, pride and greedy.

And, real love and fraternity, of course.

  • @The30YearOldVirgin

That is the nature of forgiveness. It is never earned or deserved. It is given freely and without justification. There is nothing weak or idiotic about forgiveness.

  • @The30YearOldVirgin the very point of this film was that cruelty can be forgiven, revenge and repribution only leads to more pain and suffering, forgivness is about raising above instinclive feelings of anger, and embracing love towards everyone, no matter what they hav done to you or anyone else, hard to do in day to day life, but we have to try.

  • awesome song, awesome video, they don't make them like this anymore

  • Forgive that you may be forgiven...and do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Jesus spoke clearly and why can we not do this? In the end it works out to our own uplifting if we do well each to the other. This song enters into my bowels every time I hear it- so brash and wild yet refined and strong and noble as the conflicting harmonies and melodies clash against one another creating resolution in the ears.

Why must we fight one another? Can you learn to love me and I you? Please..

  • I am an real atheist, but in this movie religion is not the mane point, it is just that religion has given humans more value than governments and emperor in the past. To like this movie I look at it simply as an movie about humans, not that we have too be more konservativ but we have too be more open for stuff when it comes to certain things.

PS: The fact that this movie didnt win oscar for best music is most likely the biggest oscar mistake.

  • ask why does hate happen.

there is a cause and then an effect if we act upon that *thing* that caused the hate in the 1st place.

    forgiveness cures hate,

it is a divine thing to forgive, it is the Godlikeness in us coming forth.

    forgiveness is an unending quality.

  • @lucysmith711 Forgivness comes to pure heart.

At first is necessary to clear heart, to become sincere as the child: it means to hate the offender, but if God in your heart is alive - this hatred will end of forgivness.

Only is impossible to give a freedom for permissiveness and impunity of evil. Forgivness should be wise, differently our children will live among free criminals.

  • @lucysmith711 thank you for that, i really needed it right now. God bless you:)

  • @lucysmith711

Its a wonderful sentiment but not as straightforward. When asked whether he could forgive the people who caused the massacre of My Lai even Hugh Thompson Jr couldn't find it in his heroic heart to do so and he must have had the divine with him that day. I only use this event as an example of someone who has truly seen evil and was unable to forgive the outcome, as most of us shall never experience such atrocities

  • @lucysmith711 EXCELLENT .......but the most important thing to forgive is ONESELF .

  • @lucysmith711 yes you are exactly right, but you have to think about people that are to ignorant know that. hate is natural. there has always be some form of hate and there probably always will be. some people cant forgive, its a shame.

  • Who was in charge to give Oscars for the soundtrack when this came out was a stone.

  • @Vendimi3 Yes and they were out of their minds and probably were paid off by whoever won that year.

  • u r mother is really great who gave birth to u mr ennoi morricone one of the last musicians of our planet

  • this piece of music is exceptionally incredible

  • jest wielki

  • are the 2 ppl who did not like this deaf?

  • You're right: hate is not a choice as love isn't..I can't love a woman only because i want to do it..i need to feel it!And even hate you can feel it..But not because you want to, but because it is so! By the way you can chose to oppress your feelings. we can't chose what to feel, but we can think about what we do..I can't chose to non hate someone..if i do it it is so I hate him! But i can chose to not kill or persecute him..I can think about my actions and i can chose what i think is right!

  • @tomhell85 What your saying is definitely what the Hollywood taught us. That we have no control, that we can't do anything about something e.g. love. That we are removing ourselves to be a human, to avoid responsibilities.,- this is a Mistake. Love is a product of an actions and sacrifices. Love is also a choice. When you say you FEEL you love someone and then after ten to twenty years you FEEL otherwise, does that mean you don't love her? Love is a result of loving actions. Love is a verb

  • where i can find a movie that tells the massacre of the USA Indians ?

  • @lusoreis

Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee is one.

  • And to think the philistines in the Academy denied this Best Score (and Best Picture). There has never been another piece of music ever like it written for the screen, simply the best ever.

  • Someone has the lyrics?! :D!!

  • Grazie Ennio, grazie di cuore....

  • Saying that this is genius, in my opnion is underrating this masterpiece.

If there is perfection in the earth, in my opinion we could start with this song.

  • Very true !!!

  • is it ever possible that this movie didn't win the oscar for this soundtrack?

    who ever did better?

    Academy = idiots?

  • @clintdom

there is only one other soundtrack from the other movie that can probably match the this soundtrack. This is the movie which probably the younger generation have not seen it nor have not heard about it. The name of the movie is Once upon the time in America.

  • @aaaaa895

    I agree.

Even if I think the main title from "Once upon a time in the West" is also better. But, you know, it's like if a father should have to choose among his own children...

  • @clintdom

YeS, t agree with you, but once upon the time in america, the music is probably the best of the best. This movie is really about the religion one, the once upon the time in america is really about what is the life is all about, and i hope you agree with me. Anyone who wants to know about the life, or what is definition of life is, one must see the movie once upon the time in america. i saw this movie back in 80s.

  • @clintdom YOu are so right. Till today I still haven't heard a score like this one

  • @doblepensador That's good! I'm happy to realize there are a lot of people in the world who still understand about poetry...

  • @clintdom

I wish Italy would have more involvement in the film industry like they used to.

All those cool, atmospheric Horror movies they did, all those utterly brilliant scores.

Ennio Morricone, Riz Ortolani, Fabio Frizzi, many more.

    Come back Italy.

  • there's still a lot of italian movies... it's just that people don't see them outside of italy anymore

  • @ExtremeBogom Dario Argento, Fellini, Zeffirelli, Sergio Leone, ...Sorry to say the way things are going at the moment, i dont think italy will ever produce another genius as young talents leave for other countries... like myself...ciao

  • @ExtremeBogom Tell that to Atheistic Holywood, yes mis-spelled.
