  • how to you set your tracks to a & b channels though?

  • want!!

  • @ejmaster1100 Are you fucking for real...????

  • Were can I found thous dj effects?

  • can u make dubstep with this? plz reply

  • @ejmaster1100 Please don't.

  • @pkperegrine77 dont what make dubstep?

  • @ejmaster1100 you can make anything with anything if you have the right sounds for it

  • @ejmaster1100

    lol

  • @ejmaster1100 dis nigga trollin yall

  • I honestly think Ableton outdid their selfs. Live 8 is like sex, In a box, Without viruses. And the apc 40 is sex.

  • i ges he is german :P

  • if Guy Pearce says so, must be the shit

  • Does anyone know if this will work with 3rd party plug ins or just the native ableton instruments?

  • I really start believing that my gameboy and tetris game should do this job too...

  • I'm using an MPK 49... Would an APC 40 be necessary? Or should I just get a 20?

  • @hauntedzebra Its not really an instrument, just gives you more physical use of the software, makes it easier to launch and control clips, also handy if you want to do live performances.

  • I just bought Ableton, don't know how to use it yet. Should I pick up an APC40? Or is that an "out of this world" laerning curve? I want to make awesome music.

  • @hauntedzebra I'd get familiar with Ableton first. Don't wanna jump in the deep end too fast.

  • @hauntedzebra This really isn't a device to create music with more to trigger and DJ with.

If you want to get into production with a cheap controller get an MPK25.

  • @Jaxzoid i have both and together they create an amazing tool

  • @hauntedzebra My 2 cents: Spend some time with Ableton first. Youtube is full of some great examples of how to do simple and complex things with Ableton Live. Once you get an understanding of how the software works, you'll see how the APC40 takes advantage of the features and makes it easier to do everything. I don't have an APC40 yet, but now that I see how it will make use and navigation of the software and music playing/composition easier, I definitely want one.

  • @hauntedzebra Learn to play piano.

  • @hauntedzebra awesome music ? buy a real instrument

  • @OmuNegru06 A Musical Instrument is a device that is created or adapted for the purpose of creating sound which is made into music. It is a real instrument, stop hating.

  • @hauntedzebra It will maker it easier to learn and is a great tool for production and dj use. Mine is great and helped me a ton to learn Live

  • @hauntedzebra i would pick up an akai mpk mini keyboard if your just learning and then just play around in Ableton. send me a message and ill help you out on teaching you how to use it and make beats and use frequencys and stuff i can help you learn the basics of dubstep and progressive house :)

  • @hauntedzebra for make music you don't need apc 40, is just a controller, all the buttoms you click in ableton with the mouse can you clicket with apc 40 as well, the difference you can click more than one at the same time, thats all.

  • @hauntedzebra I would learn how to use the program first so you dont overload and end up stressing yourself out because your trying to learn how to use the program as well as the controller... just pace your self and you will be fine...

  • @hauntedzebra get stuck into ableton its easy in no time. and its incredible.

  • APC40 is cool...but... it would be AMAZING if Ableton created a controller like Maschine but specially designed for Ableton Live, and of course, it could be used as "stand alone" with a "mini" version of Ableton Live as plugin (vsti, au) to run in other softwares lol... it would be really amazing!!!

  • he its vigo mortensen!!

  • Damn.. I want one

  • does anyone know what "DJ effect" he's using when he demonstrates the effects section?

  • Thank you Viggo Mortensen

  • Dear santa...

  • OK, so, In your opinions (your being whoever watches this video and sees this comment), how easy/hard is it to learn how to use Ableton and an APC40? I want one, but this video makes it sound difficult

  • @vikingrunnersv ive been using protools for the last many many years and recently decided to take some time and try ableton live 8. i skimmed through the comprehensive guide if i got stuck on a couple things. basically 3 weeks later with ableton and mastering the song in protools I've already sold an instrumental track to be used in a commercial. ableton is wonderful, i wish i started using it earlier in my professional career. the apc40 is a fine piece of hardware and makes things quite simple.

  • @EndSceneMusic thank you! I really want to buy one. I just need the money now, or Santa could bring me one lol

  • @vikingrunnersv well if you ask santa for one, B and H sells it for the cheapest price I've found :)

  • does the Akai Apc 40 have its own Midi Controller like the Launchpad has? I mean does it have the ability to turn the pads to drum instruments or keys to construct your own samples, or would i need a separate controller?

  • @SourMoonBlues the apc40 pad are not velocity sensitive so yes you will need a korg pad control or m-audio trigger finger, however the apc40 can be used for one hit aswell which is pretty good like a drum machine but not as responsive as a trigger finger.

  • so im just wondering cause i dont play while i do it live i would like to be able to record with this and then just hit play on a song during live shows then just mess with effects so u can record and put your songs into say traktor or itunes?

  • see pls my channel four cool akai apc 40 stuff ;)

  • Good video's but for an official channel the quality sucks dude

  • @scottly211 get either FL studio or LMMS (which is like a free, simpler version of FL) and a midi keyboard and you should be set . You could start with ableton too but i wouldnt recommend it yet..

  • im really interested in getting into making electronic music but i have no idea where to start I dont even know any good softwares to use... what hardware do i need please someone help me out.

  • @Scottly211 ableton live 8 is by far the best software DAW imo. dont worry about hardware until you are fairly acquainted with the program. afterwards you can look into getting a midi controller which will perfectly suit your playing style. take care

  • @Scottly211 I agree with MisterBankz, I was using garageband for a long time... pretty lame and not much to use but just starting out it's good to have a program that sort of limits you and allows you to understand what your doing. When I got ableton it took a bit to learn but knowing what things were and how different effects worked by my experience with garageband made it a lot easier to learn ableton.

  • HOw do you even put a sample or a midi file or ANYTHING to your apc40? Its my first time with an mpc/apc..

  • @CrazedJer You have to use Ableton Live software

  • This basically does the same this as a DJ turntable Except the scratching?

  • @mishmoshable Not really...

  • whats the Diff between ableton intro and full??? i need to make dubstep, can i in intro

    ?

  • @xDJxMontezx I heard in the intro u can only launch 8 clips at a time and yes I THINK u can make dubstep with it i have the same issue

  • @xDJxMontezx intro has a lot less than full, I know its a lot more expensive but you'll have to pay to upgrade, might aswell just start with everything

  • @pianofool yeah i will, i realized that quickly... thanks

  • The music is so inspiring. I want to make that kind of music! #thisisfuckingboring #uninspired

  • i thought i would get Logic but i changed my mind to get Live and Akai

  • I've owned one for over a year now and I now realize the MPK49 would have been a better option..at least for me... Its still a really cool midi controller but to get the most out of it you need to learn how to get tricky with the midi mapping.

  • @Cr125rmxr Interesting. I'd owned a MPK25 and sold it because couldn't utilize it much. Also the key are too hard to press! I've bought an M-audio oxygen and I like it better.

  • @hwangedward I've looked at the Oxygen controllers as well, but I like the idea of having large rubber pads to chop beats in via MPC style. However, if the keys are cheap and hard to push that will def change my mind about it. I wish they all had weighed keys! Thanks for the tip, I'll def have to consider that!

  • Whats its cost in USA and CANADA and from where it can be purchased?

  • @pavanpianist US$ 250 on ebay. There's also a smaller version called the APC 20 which goes for <200.

  • Too.....much.....white.....noise

  • Awesome!

I made a beat Live with Ableton, check out my video by clicking on my nickname ;)

  • SEXY BITCH

  • 2:35 Masturbator

  • Does it make sound on its own? Or is this a sampler/something else?

  • @mishmoshable it doesnt make its own sound. its only a midi controller

  • @4Dean3 Thanks gotchya.

  • This is an incredibly boring introduction to an incredibly interesting product.

  • I GIVE YOU, ALAN RICKMAN IN DIE HARD

  • the first guy must had too many experiences with mdma in his life.

    nice jaws dude

  • May I suggest turning down the contrast in your next video? ;)

  • Whats his name?

  • AKAI APC - 40 is the best in the market for Ableton ,

  • so we got an unlimited amount of buttons, 128 knobs and 8 volume sliders, plus more, GETTING THIS MOTHERFUCKER

  • I love this guy and his accent.

  • i can't take the narrator guy seriously...

  • @McDankness what you mean vanilla ice :O?

  • What's better, the APC40 or Ableton Launchpad??

  • @Rousoule APC40!

  • @SOLRACZAID17 cheers!!

  • @Rousoule i would say the apc 40 because it can do all the same things that the luanch pad can do. plus the launch pad doest have any nobs that you can turn so you would have to buy another controler to do that.

  • I have a question. There are 8 + 8 rotators. How much combinations are possible when we changing presets or smth?

  • haha , if i should have such an accent i would hire someone :D

  • 1:30 SHAVE YOUR HANDS

  • @FuturisticStacks fucking epic lulz brother!

  • I was waiting for "Vince from Shamwow" to popup and say "You know Germans make good stuff!"

  • Would this be more useful for DJing or production?

  • DJs! Musicians!

Post your APC 20/40 routine videos this month!

Winning video will get a free custom logo design for your use as a DJ or artist.

Go to the "Akai APC 20 and APC 40" Facebook page to submit.

  • I find this Guy extremely Handsome, Nice job.

  • can you preview a clip you're about to launch in your headphones before playing it out on the system?

  • oversized sports coat

  • @FuturisticStacks You need something so you can make people get an eargasm you know ;)

  • Aren't Comments supposed to be helpful? xD

  • he has a damn german accent! :D

  • Plug and plya my *. Maybe with mac. Support isn´t Akai best quality. The product is fantastic. But if you use PC microsoft does their job messing around. Search for connection problems and solutions over the web and see for yourself.

  • why does he always walks away :D

  • @ the people commenting about the guys accent.

And besides, he's CEO, 1+ for that.

I guess you have to get used to people with accent, as I am one of the many people who don't have English as their first language.

  • max for live comes with AIDS features..... lol

  • A few Q's: 1. Is it possible to change what midi messages the knobs/faders/etc... are being sent by the APC40? 2. Is it possible to midi map the buttons on the APC to other functions than those that APC automatically maps itself to? 3. Is it possble with a press of a button to open up a folder track and have the APC map itself automatically to the clips within it? Thank you

  • @bergweg 1.yes, 2.yes. 3. I don't know

  • se inglisch is veri gud

  • he is deffinqtly german. I agree that his accent doesnt matter, since we are talking music here and not a freaking politician. Respect him!

  • his neck is huge!

  • The first Dude looks like a porn star in the web

  • WHY THE FUCK?!?!??!?!?!?! is this guys accent even an issue in this comments list. FOR FUCK SAKE!!!!!! .... L2 learn about this stuff, or shut the fuck up and fuck off elsewhere cos you will never be a producer, due to the fact that you are considering saying something fucking dumb about this guys accent. Fucking TARDS.

  • how much is thissss ?

  • you can say what you want about his accent, but that dude is making some serious money while we're spending our time on youtube making fun of him

  • He speaks English better than many Americans do :)

  • @15ips lol, agreed.

  • can you use the apc with protools?

  • @djthemoney why would you want to use the apc with pro tools? the only features i can see being useful are the faders and record enable/solo buttons.

  • @t1mTV idk i like the apc but i use protools for most of my songs

  • this only works on ableton?

  • @DarrenMalla No, it works with anything you can map a midi controller to.

  • @DarrenMalla no, for all, whats supports MIDI :))

  • Hahahah The way he says "Master Fader"

  • i just bought apc 40 but when i press any of the controller buttons it does not correspond with the software. ive already installed and updated to version 8. but still nothing. am i doing something wrong? please help.

  • Anyyywwaaay, I have a mpd32 and I'm owning if i will even need to buy an aapc40 or if it'd make more sense for me to just get a launchpad...

  • Today all is done with stuff like fl or reason

  • @CarloneCarlo I don't think so...

  • why arent any of the comments about the hardware....

  • Why is this guy so sexy?

  • He's neck ist zu long

  • I think I'm happy with an MPD32 running FL Studio though.

  • ohhh that shit looks tasty.

  • ableton should be nominated for best work of art in the last decade

  • @asemikey It's not a work of art, it's a tool. And there's a huge internal buglist for it too, it's far from perfect.

  • @aseq2 Next time you have a party, @asemikey is going to come to it, and just when you're thinking 'I'm about to get laid, I'm feelin' good, this party is AWESOME!', @asemikey will pull down his pants, bend over, a spatter shit ALL over the place.

Just playing. Or am I? :)

  • @asemikey | Yes. Its Made in Germany !

  • OK, but is this more for LIVE playing, or music production?

  • @madedd02 both :)!!

  • I'd personally much rather live in Germany. Americas gonna be broke and homeless soon; giving all it's money to the middle east for gas and china for everything else. AWESOME DEMO THOUGH! Super informative :D

  • I really Disagree that America is the "Best" . America is cool ^^ , But not the best.

  • have you checked out Traktor with the APC40? watch?v=RD1IXOkxOUo

  • what can this do that the apc20 can't? where does the extra £180 go??

  • aragorn from lord of the rings

  • I'm about ti get this

  • I find it really har to trust a guy who's over-plucked his eyebrows!Especially the right one.

  • Can you use the pads to play notes on a track?

  • i need a computer for this right?

  • @shikery1 yes,, i just get one,, is hard tho.. but i wish one day i can do some mixes

  • I had hard nights on deciding what controller to get and now bought NI Maschine also for making beats. MPC's are too expensive for me + can't be used as a controller and APC40 doesn't cover all my needs. Anyway I will get some up to date Akai hardware in the future.

I also smile when I hear that accent as I'm a perfectionist from germany (13 of 15 points @ verbal exam). However it could be FAR FAR worse. Try yourself a different language, it takes a lot of time to sound authentic.

  • very informative video

  • I almost ordered one of these, but I'd find the lack of labels and colors on the grid quite disorienting. The APC40 looks like it's designed for lateral thinkers. As a visual thinker, I'm ordering a Jazzmutant Lemur with Mu.

  • Honestly who gives a fuck about his accent. The subject is the APC 40 so comment on that.

  • Im glad so many of you dont expect him to speak accent free English.

I think many nations are actually doing pretty good in speaking English (India e.g) but a valid disputable point on this video is a) why is it the CEO speaking? more personal feeling? and (in general) b) the end result matters. If you arent able to speak perfect English, no big deal! Get an interpreter to overdub the video or narrate it alone. In his case it is ok. But otherwise ppl should think about that more often.

  • This guy in the intro used to be a professional wrestler named "Alex Wright" real talk

  • lol this guys name is gethard beavis

  • "themall" lets get this Dolf Lundgren off our computer screens... :P

  • English? What's wrong with an accent? Just because they don't speak it like you... Which is an American accent of English.

  • Am I the only that feels these newer style controllers have features that are more cumbersome than useful?

I know my mouse can't do it all, but I find nothing wrong with using a traditional keyboard, mouse, and my cheap-ass Novation ReMote 25LE :P
