A long time ago when Carreras was ill in cancer, I heard that Pavarotti had visited him in the hospital. He is quoted as saying to Carreras that he must get well. The reason was, in Pavarottis case, that it was no longer fun to be best.
If it is true, it is a little bit strange that we her can see a dying Pavarotti in cancer and a healthy Carreras, but such is life, sometimes.
Carreras, on the other hand, looks great...and he survived a form of cancer that was almost as fatal: leukemia. (He has a pale complexion, but that's only due to the treatments he recieved, and this doesn't mean he's still sick.)
I think the pancreatic cancer was in its earliest stage, and Pavarotti didn't know it yet until sometime later. (It can take a long time for a person with early-stage pancreatic cancer to start noticing symptoms, so, unfortunately, pancreatic cancer is not diagnosed until it's in an advanced stage and chances of survival are low.) He definitely does not look good. :( R.I.P., Luciano.
Even in his last years, sick a everbybody knew... he was wonderful. Pavarotti will live forever, his voice, his personality, his heart! I always become emotioned while watching him sing whatever song, let alone this wonderful Ave Maria...
I had not seen this, and quite frankly, Pavorotti, seems like he is in pain trying to sing. Still, nothing could take anything away from his majestic voice, weak as it was. Jose Carreras did a miraculous job singing with Pavorotti as, Carreras is a phenomenal professional. Thanks for posting this. This is beautiful.
Luciano is here dying of pancreatic cancer and severely debilitated by chemotherapy. It took great courage and humility for the great maestro to sing here. Respects to Carreras who kept his voice low and weak so as not to outsing one of the greatest tenors of all time. Apt song too and so comforting for a person staring death in the face as Pavarotti was at this time. RIP
@tomtumb07 But he still got the voice of God( do you really spell it like that??) Sorry , anywhere , It is a great song and I love Pavarottis voice...
@tomtumb07 and you know Maestro Pavarotti had been singing constantly for 50 plus years...and did it better than anyone to even have a voice after 20 yrs was amazing you see how many pro singers will climb infront of a microphone after just 10-20 yrs of singing and if they do you can tell theyre wearing down...Pav stepped into his best years after 20 years...he was a Singer....an opera singer...the best...this song was so hard for him physically and emotionally....BRAVO!! MAESTRO BRAVO!!...
his voice is strong!!!!BRAVO LUCIANO!!!...NOONE COULD EVER REACH YOUR VOICE...!!!!!
