@djvideos9427 Back when i got this I paid $300 which i guess is around £187. I think the reason why the one your looking at is £199 is because of the full pick guard.
@KamaKaze118 i keep hearing people say its $300, but on the gibson site it says its $665? this could be because im from australia, but i converted it and it was still roughly the same price.
@samterrybmx wow that's really weird it says $665 for me to. uhh i guess you could try looking at a different store like guitar center. They definitely sell it for $300.
i have this same guitar but in brown it sounds like shit. cant get a fat tone and wont stay in tune even after lubing the nut and getting it professinally set up. I get a better sounds out of my hss mexi strat
@i5inside yes I have played both and yes the dimensions and the pick-ups and other things are the same the only reason why I got the faded version is because I like the look of it more then the glossy one.
@XiaNingTian As far as I know the faded one is exactly like the glossy one. Ive had this guitar for 4 years and it has not warped at all, and there in not one chip on the guitar. The wood looks good as new and everything I even still have the sticker on it lol.
@KamaKaze118 so the guitar has a clear coat but it's just not buffed right... i've been wanting the brown one for a while but i'm afraid that this guitar could be weaker and dent easily and stuff...
@ralfcaetano yes the guitar has a clear coat and the guitar is very strong ive had mine for 4 years and it has not warped or chipped or anything. Other people have asked this question but believe me the guitar will last you a very long time.
Okay, so when you say people who can't afford a Gibson, You mean someone who isn't a rich guitarist or someone who can't afford to buy a new Marshall Halfstack or a new car. In other words, poor people
@majmusicblvd0913 Yeah the jack got very loose on mine a couple of months ago. I think its common because I have seen a lot of people with the same problem. Just look for a wrench and tighten it up that worked for me.
@letspla2 the sg is good for almost everything just upgrade it with a better pickup and it will sound almost like a gibson ;), i used to own one in worn brown sounded to good, but i sold... im thinking about buying one next week with the bigger pickgaurd. cheers
Excellent review,,, you hooked up all the info,,,, I own both the faded Epi, and the faded Gibson SG. Blindfold test, showed no difference in feel or playablity... Sound was virtually the same,,,, very subtle difference. Actually like the Epi best when I am playing slide.
Postives, awesome looks, makes me look line angus, negatives- pickups are crap, hardware is not very good, knobs are cheap, switch feels cheap brakes easily but i had one and loved it, throw some seymour dunan pro alnico 2 (the slash ones) in it, it will sound awesome
Hey man I was wondering if you could help me out. I bought and Epiphone SG a couple of years ago and I'm trying to figure out which model it was so that I can see how much I should sell it for. I think it's a faded G-400, but I'm not really sure. Is the finish on your guitar very dull? Also, is the neck a slightly lighter red than the body? If you could help me out it would be great. Thanks!
@asianjewboy Yeah the finish is dull but I don't see a color difference between the neck and the body but if your guitar is dull it is most likely a faded G-400, and you could probably sell it for $190 or something like that.
@asianjewboy The neck is probably a different color because its a maple neck, and the body is Mahogany. Thus the wood takes stain/paint different. Which means you probably have a 300 or a special.
ROFL! Watch this video with the Transcribe Audio captions on! Hell you'll laugh! I quote - "they talk turkey here", "the issue is innocent children" and "mister Carter back to the fact that she didn't do anything with the trash that can go wrong".
Slightly more seriously, thought I'd point out that the half pickguard is all you can get with the G-400. The G-310, it's bolt-neck, cheaper cousin DOES have the full pickguard, but, meh. Different guitar and a whole hell of a lot of difference in quality. After that there's the super-cheapo SG Special (Epiphone special) which has no pickguard at all. Basically, in general quality, it's - Proper Gibson SGs, Gibson SG Special, G-400, G-310, and Epiphone SG Special. Wow, I bored you.
@iBankai145 There is really no difference except for the color so I cant make the decision for you just think if you want the SG black or cherry color red.
but yeah the inlays are called trapezoid. i will be getting one in the mail tomorrow. please check out my channel i will be putting a review myself soon. it's such a badass guitar!
@wlad21 Not at all the guitar distributes the weight evenly throughout its self very nicely, but the best place to confirm this for your self is to go to a guitar shop
@KamaKaze118 yea but the only problem is that there isn't a guitar shop with epiphone sg in this city.lol.they only sell cheap guitars yamaha aria and other stuff
I bought my sg-prophecy gx online I was lucky that the guitar was perfect no damages no nothing.anyway thanks a lot.btw I asked because the prophecy falls on its neck but thats how they are
@natamuss123 i would like to urge you not to buy this guitar... i mean it plays fine its just not very durable... i had this guitar for a few months and the input jack got all fucked up and the neck cracked, so i went and got the epiphone G 400 1966 reissue.. phenominal guitar for only 50 dollars more its well worth the money
@FlickOfTheSwitch83 I have never really had a problem with durability with it yet and I had this guitar for 2 years but yes this guitar is not the strongest out there especially if you travel with it a lot but it gets the job done very nicely. Ive dropped the guitar a number of times and there are no cracks in it so im fine with it. But there was a problem with my input jack, it got very loose at one point but I fixed it.
@KamaKaze118 my input jack was literally caving into the back cavity of the guitar... and i dropped that guitar once and the neck cracked to shit, probably cuz it fell directly on the headstock. im not too fond of the thin neck though, personal preference. but it plays great no doubt about that
Kro-matt-ick. Kromatick. Chromatic. Considering this for Hardcore Punk, Blues and Stoner Metal. It sounds like you really recommend it so I shall try it out.
@Imptheshrimp Yeah I really recommended for people who don't care how much they want to spend on it. Im not Sure if they made a newer model so do your research but you will be extremely pleased with any of the models.
@linkinparkfan415 between the faded G-400 SG and the regular G-400 SG there is no real difference because they are the same model just that the faded comes in faded and the regular does not. If you don't want to spend money on a Gibson SG and you don't like the way the Epiphone G-400 sounds like you could just modify the guitar like putting in better pickups.
