  • Is it illegal to release pigeons at or near a airport.

  • you got some gay pigeons

  • Yup lol, rarely though if allowed mates. Of course they can't all be or would be 99,000 in no time.

  • how much is ur pigeon

  • I don't sell my birds, too much trouble.

  • Too many questions! Beginners reading here will get lost in comments & answers. Watch my videos, reread what I wrote you. There is no more expensive type. It is based on flying ability alone, a $1 pigeon may beat a $1,000,000 pigeon & reverse. To be a good fancier you must relax & be observant. Can you tell why a butterfly or bird lands here or there. The horse is staring across the field because something is there! My brother helped weed my flowers on return my flowers were gone!

  • Is there way I could make strong and safe house for the pigeons that can protect them from harsh weather, theft or cats?

What is the average house sizing for a pair of pigeons?

Do the pigeons land on the top of the roof better or should I make them landing place?

    Thanks

  • Well you can make a small rabbit hutch size if it is not too cold like here. So long as the birds are flown daily & given some open loft. It is better though even with two birds to have at least a 6 x 6 x 6 foot & an aviary at least similar to this video. Use hardware cloth on windows & aviary of 1/4 X 1/4 inch. If you have not some construction ideas look them up, such as basic framing & so forth. The library should be of help.

  • Oh & it is better if they have a landing board my aviary is a landing board as well but birds also land on roof. Many fanciers block roof with pickets as it costs time on clock. This seems to only be true if you have a tiny flock, to me with my size of flock it is better to get them landed.

  • Much appreciated for the information.

I am in the U.K and the weather most of the year wet.

    Would a shed good enough?

    232 x 293 x 288 cm (width x depth x height).

How many pairs can this shed take?

If i put shelf for their nests, how far apart the shelf should be?

    Thanks

    Dear Tossdart,

Thank you for your quick reply; I must say all your answers were very helpful to me, hopefully in the near future I want to have an average of 50 pairs of the best pedigree if possible, so I want to ask you these questions before start collecting them.

What are the three top expensive types of pigeons and how much?

    Why are they expensive?

    Look forward hearing from you

  • is there a difference between the pigeons i see flying around toronto and these?

  • YES! The difference would be similar to a greyhound & a pug dog. They are of the same genus. However as example many of my pigeons descend from a family of persons called The Janssens. They kept & developed this strain of Racing Homing Pigeon since the late 1800s. I & others are faithful to this strain, able to maintain 70 miles per hour over 400 miles & home 600 Miles on the day of release.

  • do your birds land in other peoples houses?

  • When training a squeeker, it may land up & sit briefly. See my Loft Training Squeekers video. Other than that no never. These are Racing Homing Pigeons. They only like home. I rarely give open loft but primarily train (Loft Fly) twice daily. This way they do not pick up bad habits.

  • Pigeons can be taught to fly between two points. This was common practice with militairy pigeons, the birds were taught to relay messages between two points maybe 20 miles apart. One point was their loft the other was where they were fed.

Pigeons can be broken to a new loft. I have a friend in the UK whos best brid was a stray that came to Britain on a ferry and wound up lost at his loft. He kept the bird and ended up winning races with it. Not common I know but it can happen.

  • Yes I have heard of it but yet to have it shown to me. I also realize birds can be taught & have myself. However after losing imported birds from feeling sorry for them being prisoners. I understood Andy's Law: Never fly your Breeders! In my one video I mention pigeons love home & anyone tells you different is bugs. This is not to be confused with the earlier statement of I have heard they fly both ways but just to say: they love home. I think it could be done by keeping the bird in flux.

  • im intrested how far can u take a homing pigeon away from its home before it cant or wont come home. and can they only have 1 home? so u always have to take them somwhere then let them fly home rather than having 2 homes that they could fly from one to another then back? or cant they do that?.

please messagfe me if u have time

  • Well that is a tough one. Presently some flyers are homing birds 700+ miles on the day of release! 500 M., is more common. One bird flew from France to Vietnam! Few Young Birds should fly more than 300 miles. Old birds can be taught to home to another loft but the instant it flys there is a chance it will attempt to home. If it has been captive very long (& it must be) it will lack endurance & possibly perish. I have heard tell of this being possible. Generally Homing Pigeons home.
