LOST: Ben summons the smoke monster [5x12-Dead is dead]

It's interesting that the center of the island was this cork and somehow the smoke monster came out of it, and they foreshadowed this by showing Ben summoning the smoke monster by turning a cork of some kind and allowing the water to drain. Anyone else notice that?

The only question i wished they had answered was who told Ben how to summon the smoke monster

The statue hanging on the book case looks like the face of the lightning looking thing that Ben sees when he is judged

@CosmicUndeadElf As the whole chamber seemed like it was dedicated to Smokey and the engraving mirrored ben's judgemeant then I think that it was Smokey on the engraving but I suppose if it hasn't been confirmed then I might be wrong.

Well you're most likely correct there, it doesn't look much like the monster but maybe that was just the best way they could engrave it. The lightning as I call it, could be the electromagnetic energy or whatever powers the monster

@CosmicUndeadElf *SPOILER* Episode 15 (Season 6) is Smokey centric and it's a non-stop flashback, so we might see the chamber where ben got judged again and then we will see what the lightning thing is. If we don't it will still be an epic episode. *SPOILER*

Cool. I read there would be a Smokey flashback episode this season. I reckon that the man in black was someone who became infected by "the sickness" and the reason he wants spread the darkness is because it took over his mind, but eventually he lost his real body and existed as a living consciousness (the flashing electricity) which can be visible or invisible and it draws the island's energy into itself (The black smoke). Well that's just my theory anyhow

@MATTMEZZA666 Good theory but just to brush up for you the Black Smoke is Jacobs brother, when they were younger jacobs brother killed their mother and Jacob thew him into the center of the island (and it posses a power so great when man tries to touch it they become the thing that you are in the innermost deep and for Jacobs brother that is manipulative, evil and murderous. Anyway as soon as Jacob threw him down into the heart of the island black smoke came out of the ground.
