It's just a bit of a shame whitebait is drastically overharvested, as it is the young of native river fish. It's also under a lot of threat from the dirty dairying practices and fertiliser/pesticide/herbicide­/other-cide runoff entering the waterways. But as prices have gone up, it has only increased the demand, and the numbers of people who go out whitebaiting.
