alucard's english voice is a loooot cooler...i have both 2....saturn's graphics are low...its a bit slower too...mist is faster...but overall its slow...it has maria...which is awesome...it has 2 more familliars...which is stupid (2nd fairy and demon) ...some extra weapons ...some uselless extra areas end enemies...dunno...for some reason i prefer the psx version...its probably cuze of the map screen...at saturn u need to pause the game in order to see the map.it sucks.and it loads way too much

The FMV wasn't smoother on my PSX, since I had one of the 1995 models that were put together such that FMV often skipped. That may have been a reason I stopped playing video games for some time in the mid-90s, though I thought them interesting.

I wonder if it is cheaper to buy a Saturn and a copy of this game rather than buying a "black lable" PSX version now, though the online releases have reduced its price a little.

The Saturn version goes for around $40 to $50 used complete on ebay these days. Haven't checked PSX black label prices recently, but if they're about the same in price, you might as well give the Saturn version a try if nothing more for the few extras it has. You can always download the game relatively inexpensively off XBLA too.

Why does nobody ever spam Dracula with Hydro Storm in the beginning? The fight lasts about 10 seconds if you do that.

you get extra levels for alucard if you don't use the triangle button in the prologue

Actually, it's the other way around. KCET originally developed the game for the PSX in 1997 and KCEN ported it to the Saturn a year later with a few extras.

If you've already plowed through the english version at least once, you shouldn't have an overly difficult time with the Saturn version. I wouldn't recommend it though for first time players of SotN though. Really only worth it for those who want to see the extras that were added to Saturn port.

I figured it all out VIA Trial and error.. when I learend Maria wasn't playable in the english version I decided to ignore it and stick with this one.. Only once Have a cleared the first prolouge boss, with no damage... lol It is cool when Maria dashes over to help out..

the point of this vid was to try and show as much as possible for people who want to see if there are any differences between the saturn and psx versions. It was never intended on showing any skill or how fast I could do this etc.. Actually, the transparency effects are inferior, there is longer londing times, the map is a pain to access and there is some pretty bad slowdown at times. Otherwise its still very entertaining. I enjoy it a lot.

There's no good Sega Saturn emulator due to the complex hardware, you might be able to play it with "Satourne" is the best emulator so far, try Google It, i'm pretty sure it won't be hard to find the .iso in torrent networks like MiniNova. By the way, due to Bernie Stolar, many japanese sega saturn games never made it into the US or EU, so you'll have to know japanese to play this game :/, Sega of America allowed only the "top" games to be published in the US, like NiGHTS.

The Saturn is far to0 complex of a System so emulation is pretty much out of the question, and CDs are too big to fit on the 512 MB flash ram of the Wii.

That's not true. Lots of games on the Sega Saturn look better than this one. You just need a team with good talent and programming skills developing for the Sega Saturn, and sure that wasn't in Konami Nagoya because they were the worst of Konami teams. While KCET did the original on PS1, KCE Nagoya was the one who handled this port.

Agreed, the saturn was much more capable at rendering sprite based games than the PS1 could, sony did'nt see a future in traditional 2-D games, so they did'nt dedicate much resources into the PS1. true story, sony did'nt want capcom to release Megaman X4, sony only agreed to allow capcom to release the game after capcom threatened to move Resident Evil 2 to the saturn, can you imagine? who knows how this would have effected the console war if capcom made good on their threat.

Lowest possible stats (Not terrible, but still every advanage would be nice)... to get the highest you have to beat him flawlessly, quickly sans sub weapons (Though picking one up will do a slight bonus). Though if you used item crash alot you'll start with a neutron bomb.

yeah I love the english voices too. I love seiyuus, but after 10+ years of watching anime, hasn't anyone notices how they all sound the same? all girls have that squealy voice. "younger teen" guys have that...voice and all the villains (like Dracula here) has that "villainy" voice? its hard to tell which voice actor is who lol

in the japanese version,Dracula´s voice is also Cell´s voice from Dragon Ball Z(also M.Bison from Capcom Vs. Snk and Johnny from Guilty Gear)and Alucard´s voice is also Scar(from Fullmetal Alchemist) and Zero(Megaman X series)

So far I can only manage about 199% of the map with Maria but I can't beat that stupid boss Galamoth.. so it looks like that 200% is some way off for now.. So far the only ending I've seen is Maria waiting at the lake where Dracula's castle used to be before she runs off alone..

I've no clue. This is a rip from the PSX Disc that has a dialog not used in the game at all. After checking some forums, I'm guessing that this ending was cut from both games. You wouldn't be able to find it with Maria anyway. It would be in Alucard's game.
