@Aislan4414 lets just say that the mirasol dispaly is better! in many ways.. first the mirasol display will not burn your eyes so it will be good for long time reading (as you know reading with and lcd screen can really stress your eyes.) and jsut what you said power consumption.. lcd eats alot of power unlike mirasol.. :)

batlife with this lcd will last for about 8-15 hrs depending on the display but in mirasol you might actually last for days with the same battery. :)

What framerate can this effectively animate at (ie, so that most of the time of a frame is showing all the right pixel component intensities)?

How does power consumption compare to OLED and LCD when changing every pixel at, say, 30 frames per second or 60 fields per second?

Its amazing how far technology has progressed. I remember my first cell phone cost 200 dollars with a contract and the last time I went back to the states I could get a cell phone for 9 dollars from walmart with no contract. The thing even has a color screen. Things have become so cheap so quickly that in the next 10 year everything you buy could have some sort of small screen on it for advertising.

Does it have a backlight like an iPad? Or does it take in light like a kindle? I have a Kindle but I hate not having colors or video. I won't get an iPad, because it would be like staring a TV for hours which would destroy my eyes. So is this product going to be able to take the "best of both worlds?"

Im wondering if something like this will kill of the ipad. I mean you look at it and from what Ive read they are expecting this product or at least the asus model to do almost everything the ipad does but with battery life lasting 10 ties as long. Over 100 hours.... but that is all speculation as of now. But if what is predicted come true I don't know why people would get an Ipad unless the image quality is really bad using e ink.

Its just an LCD-screen in a small format - whats new in that? Everyone can do that, but you also take away the bliss of eInk. No eReader without eInk will catch on - its the eInk that is the whole driving force behind the eReader revelution..

Its fundamentally different from an LCD screen. No one except LV can make these screens; its patented technology. Get your facts straight: these screens turn circles around eink. Where's your video in eink. Nope, 2 second refresh rate. Eink is passé...

@HiredGoonage Liquavista technology can be run on an LCD manufacturing line as only difference instead of filling with liquid crystal you fill with the electrowetting liquids. Liquavista is industrializing with process step with a well known equipment manufacturer..

so this will be equivalent costs to LCD
