This is a prime example of dangerous amateur making a meal of a simple situation. I have mopped up the aftermath of many's an idiotic farm hand like this. For every success (i.e. needless intervention) there are many more failures ie dead calves AND downer cows. Everyone would be better off if you tied them to a post, shovel in hand and asked them to shift their own shite from left to right, then right to left then left to......
