For instance songs like Wherever I May Roam, One, etc have great guitar solos that fit really well and are memorable despite not being that technically demanding. I think it is more difficult to write good stuff rather than practice excessively at technique. People generally don't want to listen to technique only, even though it's fun to watch for a bit because you know it is impressive.
