  • The walking with strangers song is Actually called Buried, Dead and DONE** awesome video!

  • I hate hearing about this so called "djent". It's all fake and gay. It's not even a genre.

  • @Brageca Music is subjective bro. If enough people say it's a genre, it's pretty much a genre. It's an art form, which is constantly changing.

  • @Brageca u mad bro?

  • 3:05 robert downey jr LMAO

  • If 90 % of these bands changed their vocals they would be great, we want old school vocals not this sh*t

  • Bands are all spot on, I'm not sure about the song choice though... Great video however!

  • @DreamTheater4life ? I'm talking about how they have dead high pitched winey singing, in most of their songs nothing to do with screaming. I'd rather they screamed more tbh

  • Overall : what a fucking load of useless fucking shit

  • wow, your metal taste fucking sucks... high pitched emo ass singing

  • @sonofdisaster9891 obviously knows nothing about djent lmfao. gtfo

  • Djent is the stupidest word I've ever heard.

  • I like how half of these bands are Deathcore, not 'Djent' (Or for you "djent isn't a genre' people, Progressive Ambient Groove Metal.)

  • Why are so many elitists in such denial that 'djent' is unfortunately a new sub genre of heavy metal?

  • Post-metal band Rosetta has said:

Maybe we should start calling doom metal 'DUNNN'.

    —[17]

In response to a question Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe stated:

There is no such thing as 'djent,' it's not a genre.

    I agree.

  • Everything here HAS to be Instrumental!

  • All these bands are shit.

  • @IntensiveSquare I can deal with you not liking the other bands, but if you can't appreciate Animals As Leaders you don't know anything about music.

  • @JobforaQuinnBoy1 I agree. Animals has and always will be a favorite of mine.

  • @IntensiveSquare Yes, they are. Because you said so.

    Idiot.

  • @MrNicetomeetya That's because Sumerian is genius. They use money making bands like Asking Alexandria and I See Stars to sign awesome bands like Periphery, After the Burial, Born of Osiris, etc.

  • Love the sound of Djent and the grooviness of the genre but why do most of the bands have to have really shitty emo vocals and breakdowns?

  • @Danny5Kellett just because a band has harsh vocals makes them emo? if they're not singing about how much they hate life and how much people suck then they're not emo.

  • @Danny5Kellett 'Djent' isn't a genre. Get your 'emo' shit out of here breh.

  • @eazyb33zy Actually, Djent is indeed a genre at this point, as stated by Periphery themselves at the end of one of their demo songs. Either way, it's not just us, or even the bands themselves who ends up labeling the genre It's the populace who listens to it. Even Black Sabbath didn't call their music 'heavy metal' in the beginning. They were TOLD what it was.

  • @TBMsGuitarGod What song?..

  • @eazyb33zy It was at the end of Icarus Lives I believe.

  • @TBMsGuitarGod Haha ooohhhh that's what you're talking about... Please quote when they said 'djent' is a genre... Lol. Actually, you don't have too... "Thank you for purchasing Periphery's self titled debut long play record, Periphery.

On this album you'll hear heavy metal, a genre of music from the future.

Be dazzled by distortion, be bombarded by bass beats, and jitter-bug to Djent." "HEAVY METAL, A *GENRE* OF MUSIC FROM THE FUTURE... JITTER-BUG TO DJENT"

  • @eazyb33zy No, you're right actually, the one time I bothered to listen to it I just didn't listen close enough lolz. Either way though, end point still remains valid. I mean heck, more people accept djent as a sub-genre already than those to oppose it. Majority rules my friend... As far as I see it, like it or not, Djent is now a sub-genre of heavy metal.

  • 00:50 = Fall out Boy From the Djent Metal Dimension

  • So much of the same gayness.

  • Great bands my friend, the highest of props for you

  • i saw the post about meshuggah but still they have earned the right to be on EVERY djent video cause i mean its meshuggah...enough said...

  • @livluv4muisc Amen. Meshuggah is Meshuggah. No arguing that lol.

  • Saying these bands rip of Meshuggah is like saying all death metal bands rip off Death or Slayer. Sure those bands were the godfathers of the genre/style, but it doesn't mean the bands that are heavily influenced by those styles aren't talented, creative, and worthwhile.

  • how is tesseract not on this?

  • sweet

  • vildhjarta dick on everyone now

  • animals as leaders, epiccc fucking band.

  • LMAO @ ITB

  • MESHUGGAH IS BETTER

  • periphery wins

  • Centuries Apart FTW

  • How is I Am Abomination djent at all? Retard.

  • 2:20 im wearing that cap right now hahaa

  • First of all, meshuggah is fucking over rated. Don't know why people's minds completely fuck out the moment they're mentioned. Sure they have songs that are nice like every other band, but they are not even fucking close to the best band ever. I wish people would quit this shit.

  • ....what's djent?

  • Legend?

  • Comment removed

  • Get I Am Abomination off of there. Those guys are fucking terrible.

  • yeah, fuck meshuggah.

  • I'm pretty sure 90% of these bands are signed on to Sumerian Records. Coincidence?

  • @MrNicetomeetya Aliens!!!

  • @MrNicetomeetya 7/16 = 90%? lol lrn2maths

  • @MrNicetomeetya I think not.

  • You sir are in the right path, keep on djenting

  • The hell is djent? Most of the bands on the list are generic deathcore

  • @AlexzanderVL2 djent is a 4 note powerchord, which sounds metallic (djentdjent) rather than just a chug, which some of these bands don't play, but a djent band usually gets referred to metal/mathcore groove/polyrhythmic (progressive metal) groups with tight and technical breakdowns and riffs

  • Where's Structures and Substructures?

  • Why do polyrhythms have to be associated with Meshuggah? They're pretty standard in any 'core' song ever. Before Meshuggah was the only band people compared them to.

  • born of osiris are prog death, I'll admit, a few of there riffs sound a TINY bit like djent but they are not of the actual djent movement.

  • the wailing emo singers kill it for me. Vildhjarta's instrumental songs kick ass especially deceit

  • @TheAcbdef123 how right you are.

  • meshuggah doesnt need to be on any of these lists. they pioneered the genre. it goes without saying.

  • CENTURIES APART :D

  • Only few of theses can be considered djent

  • Stop about meshuggah.

I'm a fan of them but seeing people that want meshuggah to be on every djent video is so fucking boring.

  • @miaoudzilla Im sorry dude, but they, you know...Kinda started it.. Sooooo..Yeaaah..

  • @miaoudzilla Meshuggah is Progressive. Djent is not Progressive. Djent is a fad. Not a genre. Meshuggah = Birthing a new style of Progressive that all these emo kids aimed to rape. Meshuggah are kings of Metal.

  • @miaoudzilla well... technically as the forefathers of this "genre" they should deserve a mention but they should not be placed along side these bands as they aren't really on the same level as Meshuggah...

  • Animals As Leaders FTW

  • no meshuggah, i like that =D

  • @tjbay1376 listen to 2;51 of Fractal Effect by After The Burial. Grooviest of the groove right there. I have yet to hear a song top that one when it comes to groove. . .

  • @metallica5252 The Fractal Effect*

  • 1,3,4,7 sound like an Asking Alexandria breakdown, no grooviness, no originality, just lame basic metalSNORE...

2 sounds like symphonic power metal

5- Periphery is groovy and are a djent band, but WHY that song? if you're going to title it grooviest of the groove, pick a GROOVY song...Icarus Lives! or The Walk.

Your list sucks, idc how old it is don't play the "oh i uploaded this a while ago" card. The only band on the list that are truly groovy are AFB, BOO, Volumes, Periphery and Structures.

  • @musicguitarlessons It's not the djentiest of the djent without Aztec Two Step...

  • @musicguitarlessons WHERE THE FUCK IS TEXTURES

  • no, no, I suppose, yeah I guess, of course, most definitely, sure, balls deep, meh, more meh, djentwich, another djentwich, decent, not bad, back to bland, ends bland.

  • meshuggah started the trend, all these new bands are perfecting the art.

  • Ima dinosaw!!!!!

  • @musicguitarlessons in every other video... ever made.... lol

  • A list of bands better than Meshuggah. yes, I can feel the hate coming :)

  • @redemptionfb hehe nice one, couldn't think of a better joke myself :P

  • fail

  • i wish this was louder!!

  • Anybody notice that the drums from Broadcast the Nightmare sound like the drums from the "A higher place" album from Born of Osiris? Not the drums themselves but the samples.

  • @vicegrip37

I FREAKING KNEW IT! i was wondering why those samples sounded so familiar, but i couldnt put my finger on it. Youre right. Thanks for pointing that out, dude :D

  • @itscalledfutbol16 Lol no problem dude, I picked it up like the second this video started. I was like, hey that's BoO .... Oh wait.

  • carlsberg

  • The last song stinked like meshugga-esque. Made me feel ashamed. =(

    Maybe I'm confused.

  • Fuck yes walking with strangers! are they going to put out a new album or what?

  • Dude. This mix is legit. Awsome fucking job man.

  • @musicguitarlessons Making money, unlike these bands.

  • All about Uneven Structure and Mindfold Express.

  • I'm not so sure about I Am Abomination... but they are a sick-ass band FTW

  • I opened a new tab, but heard Centuries Apart, and was like NFW! More people need to hear that band!

  • Just randomly looking on youtube at these sort of videos when I get to Monuments song, Admit Defeat. Then I realised "HOLY SHIT THAT'S ME AND MY FRIEND!". Thank you for making my fucking day haha.

  • BoO looks high suprise suprise

  • A list of bands that wish they were Meshuggah.

  • @04Grind no. a list of bands who's instrumentalist appriecate and feel the infulence of meshuggah, why you keyboard warrior gotta hate on fucking everything.

  • @cripplesunday1 Lolno. They're completely ripping off Meshuggah and adding elements of shitty metalcore (sorry, that's redundant) to it.

  • @aarongtr180 the fact you used "lol" makes your comment redundant, added to the fact your just hating. you wanna hate on early messuggah for "ripping off" metallica? isn't that how music evolves.

  • @cripplesunday1 "The fact that I used "lol" makes my comment redundant"? That makes absolutely no sense in any context. And music evolves by becoming better, not worse. Taking Meshuggah and adding breakdowns and gang vocals is like throwing diamonds at a pile of shit.

  • Comment removed

  • loooooooooool no internet kid dosen't like my comment. fuck. haters gon hate. fuck y'all.

  • @04Grind TROLolololololol omg that actually made me laugh yo ::high fives::

  • @04Grind meshuggah has good instrumentals but his vocals annoy the shit out of me. sorry man.

  • @04Grind Actually, I'm pretty sure a lot of these bands don't even listen to Meshuggah!

  • @04Grind its not like meshuggah were the first people to bring indian ideals of polymeters/rhythms into metal leearn your shit dick

  • @04Grind totally douche/poser thing to say.

  • @04Grind What a stupid fucking comment.

  • @22jermz So mad.

  • @04Grind I agree with you, all these band suck. they all sound emo

  • @LJUNGBERG3 lol a.a.l. emo? thought i'd heard it all

  • @LJUNGBERG3 Do you know what "Emo" is? Fuckin tard.

  • @Corbeinp i know how to masturbate. hwyahslkdjfhasd

  • @Corbeinp it's a word used to describe faggots

  • Damn dude you pretty much posted one song for all my fav bands.

  • Dude, Check out "Circles"! They are underground, so they might be hard to find. One of their songs is "The Frontline". They are epic!

  • I love your video man. keep em coming!!

  • @sonicslaughter You should listen to some Cynic. And The Faceless.

  • @Skwigelf100 I have/do both are great bands. :)

  • like three or four of these songs were actually djent

  • Periphery is NOT metalcore, end of story.

  • PLEEEEEEEEASE , stop calling all these shitty fucking metalcore bands ( i'm not a genre douche, but thats what they are) Djent. Its going to get/already is getting over used and all you trend hopping FAGGOtS are giving it a band name. FUCK YOU ALL

  • @mkstreets

did you call periphery a shitty fucking metalcore band? lol fool.

  • @mkstreets shut up hipster..

  • @mkstreets

you just called Born of Osiris a shitty metalcore band?? LOL FOOOOL!!

  • 1 of these bands is not like the other (actually talented)

  • @kurukq Who could guess who!

  • i know all of these bands. im such a jent nerd. sumerian records all day btw

  • MONUMENTS!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥

  • I love that song from Periphery! Its my favorite one!!!!! ♥

  • You have great taste in music. I would give you a cookie as a treat but unfortunately I do not have a cookie. So I'll like your video and give you two thumbs up instead.

  • @HighExistence The cookie would've crumbled from the groove anyways; cookies and groove don't mix well. :<

  • 7:48 Tosin has a white stache lol

  • About half of theese bands arent even Djent.

  • @MultiBillybadazz very true its metalcore at best

  • everyone should stop what they're doing and listen to "random riffage vildhjarta" right now.

  • Hey, and where did you find Broadcast The Nightmares stuff? I want some of em

  • @Toadoe7 Broadcast the Nightmare's cd can be found at most music stores. I bought mine either at hot topic or sam goody. They were on the Sumerian label but unfortunately are broken up now.

  • @Toadoe7 Sam Goody still exists?

  • @Toadoe7 I bought their cd from iTunes....if you can't find it in stores. I saw them live, btw, and they're awesome.

  • Hey everyone, I just found out about this band while viewing the comments on Within the Ruins' music video. They are called "Hope can't save the dead." I wish I could have included them in this video, but if you want to check them out,

    /watch?v=5E3SjmFp14w

    very good, and very djenty.

  • Meshuggah...god fathers of djent...nuff said.

  • @xxSPiKeZxx326 True that my dear friend and I don't even know who you are! LOL! Meshuggah are the gods of djent!!! Damn its good to be a girl and know about awesome music!!!!

  • Don't know how Crawl Back by Veil of Maya is not in here. Best Djent breakdown, thus far.

  • @McBride96 i do belive it was meshuggah that started the whole Djent thing

  • Beastin' list my friend

  • @xorn101 im glad you cleared that up. im so sick of people saying "periphery is the king of djent they invented it" thats total BS! Djent isnt even a genre its an onamonapia. that guy is SO ignorant its sad. But i agree id say circle of contempt deserves more credit than alot of bands bc they honestly have the most unique sound. i like Volumes alot too i think they have some groovy tunes! so does after the burial and within the ruins

  • @HoRizoN2797 Well actually, Misha did invent the term "djent". However, the technique has been around long before misha mansoor called it djent. I am also getting tired of people saying Periphery invented the term because they, as a band, did not... Misha did. also, even though they aren't djent, WITHIN THE RUINS IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @McBride96 you sir.......are a dumbass

  • @McBride96 djent is a technique, and after the burial is "djenty"

  • Overall I like the list, some of these bands I have not heard of. Thanks for the great list, and if you've got more Im always looking for new stuff. Thanks!

  • @McBride96 Wow, I cant believe I just witnessed someone trying to say that after the burial isn't djent. After the burial and Peripherys guitarists create extremely similar riffs, some of which are nearly identical. So how could you possibly call Periphery djent and say After the burial is not?!??. You obviously dont have ears.

  • @McBride96 Asshole, you're more wrong than you think. "Djent" is not a genre of music. It is the sound produced when you palmmute an open chug with razor tight gain. Meshuggah coined the term over 10 years ago. Listen and learn, man. Listen to the song Entrapment off of their album Catch 33. Don't get me wrong, I dig the fuck out of Periphery, but I just separate the essentials from the completely asinine.

  • @xorn101 Periphery have been heavily influenced by djent, the periphery guitarist and tseracts guitarist have collaborations influenced by djent before they were in either band. Djent was coined by Messhugah's giutarist

  • Idk why you didn't pick Bezerker or The Fractal Effect though.
