  • its amazing how this guy just cranks them out like *zoop zoop* Done! Easy as hell. Meanwhile im failing art class because i severely lack creative artistic talent. Bravo.

  • @NinjaPl33z Don't let the art teachers get you down. Talent is just an occasional shortcut. Art is annoyingly receptive to effort. As long as you keep doodling you WILL get better. And quickly, too. Helps to draw stuff you think is fun, so maybe you're not working on the right stuff right now.

  • You, sir, are the frickin' best artist I've ever seen. End of story.

  • @yomannnnn5 And you I want recording my outgoing voicemail message! :^D Seriously, though, thank you! That's very kind of you, yomannnnn5.

  • That's Gnarly! I don't know if you have anything to do with the iPhone app, but i just bought it and it's KILLER! Keep up the awesome work...

  • @Zizpo69 Oh yes! That's my app. I'm glad you like it! (If you have time, would you leave me a review in the app store, please? People who complain are always so much more motivated to write, and I'd love some balance. :^)

  • @StefanGBucher Just Got Done Giving It A 5 Star :) I Agree That The Complainers Have More Motivation To Give Reviews... I Don't See How It's Not More Popular Than It Is... I Love This App (After I Post This, I'm Gonna Go Check Out Your Web Site... I Hope You've Got Stuff For Sale)

  • @Zizpo69 Ah, you're very kind! Thank you! And yes, there is stuff to buy on the site. Books, drawings, shirts, STUFF! :^D

  • @StefanGBucher Right On! I'm Going To Have To Buy Some Stuff :) I Will Spread The Word About Your App... Well Take It Easy, And Hopefully I'll See More Apps In The Future.

  • @Zizpo69 Just saw the review. THANK YOU! I really appreciate it! :^)

  • @RawrrrAddiction A better compliment I can't think of. Thank you, Rawrrr! :^)

  • ...marry me?

  • @SodaPopElectric Me or the Monster? :^D

  • i have a couple of questions.. who is 344, what kind of pens/pencils do you use to color in the pants, and are you going to release a second book for monsters 101- thru 210? if you DO release a second book, make sure to put in the the special holiday and new years monsters too!

  • @masterofjello98 Hiya! To answer your questions: for the pants I use H and B mechanical pencil leads. And the second book... Odds are that it won't happen. The first book sold well, but not well enough for the publisher to do a second one. But who knows what'll happen in the next few years. :^) I'd definitely include the special edition Monsters.

  • You are brilliant! I absolutely adore these. Watching you draw inspires me to get back to my own art :]

  • @paper2dreams Well, that's definitely the best compliment I can think of. Thank you, paper2dreams! :^)

  • @StefanGBucher man im really bad at drawing but i can see that with imagination anything is possible! thank you man

  • @StefanGBucher What program do you use to animate them? Is it flash 8? I reckon it is... And you use free transform to move the different parts to different layers, and than animate, with Free Transform again, right?

Also, I think it would be really cool to make something more detailed and coloured and than animate it. Non the less, a great idea you got there, I bow before you :)

  • @guzotak Hello guzotak. I actually use Anime Studio Pro, a goofy little program, but it serves me. I have yet to learn Flash. I'd love to make something more elaborate. I'm working my way up to it. Look up THE TOPANG MONSTER and A DAILY MONSTER™ CHRISTMAS SONG.

  • wow. just... wow

  • @redblood55 Thank you, redblood55! I'm glad you dig it. :^)

  • how long does it take you to make one of these? and how do you make the thing that you start out with?!?!?!?!?!!?

  • @TheFiremonkey123 Hi there, Firemonkey! The drawing usually takes about 20 minutes. The animation, about 12 hours. And I make the initial ink blot by blowing on the ink with a duster can. :^)

  • @StefanGBucher thanks

  • you're 1 talented person keep it up

  • @eddiegogan Thank you very much, eddiegogan. :^)

  • @eddiegogan Thank you very much, Eddie! :^)

  • @DerDoenerLando I put down a few drops of ink, then blow on it with canned air -- the canned stuff to clean your computer keyboard. :^)

  • what efect do you do how and what program when you make the monster move and come alive

  • @NightmareSpriter I use Anime Studio 5 and then do a bit of color correction in AfterEffects.

  • HA! brilliant!! i've just discovered your work today and i think it's superb........

One question though....do you always draw upside down?? I'm a bit of a cartoonist/artist myself but id struggle to work the way you do..........

  • @BowerBomB Hi BowerBomB. Forgive the sluggish reply. Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you found the Monsters and that you like 'em. I only draw upside down for the camera, or for an audience. I do it purely to show off. :^)

  • Wow, you're amazing!

  • @EllaUnread And you're very kind. (Thank you! :^)

  • @StefanGBucher Your smiley has a nose, lol :)

  • @EllaUnread Well sure! If you were to move up your mouth to where your nose is now... why, you'd get bits of food in your eyes all the time.

  • @StefanGBucher bwahaha...nah, I'm like Voldemort :P

  • esta suuper

  • @didifontes25 Thank you very much! :^)

  • 344? like... the clothes store?

  • @bigbellii Ah, you're in the Boston area. :^) My 344 predates theirs by a few years. It's the name of my design company.

  • where you get that pen from ?

  • @VivaLaMonkey122 The Sharpies I get at the office supply store. The rest of 'em I buy at the art store.

  • do u have to redraw it everytime? if not plz tell how because i would like to do a lil of this since i like claymation

  • Hello orangeguy1000. No, you basically slice up the drawing in Photoshop and rebuild it as a virtual puppet over a skeleton, so that you can animate it. :^)

  • ok thx

do you know where can i find a tutorial for the animation you do in your videos (the last part when u are done drawing )

  • Thank you again, altavista23. You're very kind. I use Anime Studio 5 and just taught myself by playing. I don't know if there are tutorials to be had anywhere. Sorry to not have more helpful information. :^)

  • Do you actually keep these drawings?

  • Yes, I do, 59squares. :^)

  • Though I gave that particular one away, now that I think of it. :^)

  • Woow, how did you make it jump out of the paper? Unbelievable..

^^ No but, seriously, what pen do you use for the first thing? Looks cool ;)

  • Hello ebr94art. I'm glad you like the Monster. He's a favorite of mine for sure. I made him jump using Anime Studio 5. In my live presentation I pretended to throw a cookie at the screen, and he'd catch it in his mouth.

I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Prismacolor Premier pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombow ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), Prismacolor Premier markers, and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper.

  • Hehe, thanks for sharing ;)

And thank you for the compliment, too! :^)

  • tee hee

  • your very tallented keep it up . i try it a home but i cant find any ink dude ure roll-modal keep it up and where u get the ink

  • Thank you for the compliment, boogulls. I use Yasutomo sumi ink, but it's more about the blowing. The secret ingredient (SHHH!) is pressurized air from a duster can. :^)

  • this is probably one of my favorite ones.

i love how you are using the ink in such a way, I've never thought of using it like that in my illustrations.

The way you incorporated that as hair is marvelous.

  • Thank you very much for the kind words, redrumremix. I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you like the hairy Monsters. :^)

  • ='( i have an imagination like yours but i just cant use it like that ='(

    Plz reply!

  • he wont

  • Sure I will, psychomaji. It just takes me a while when my day job takes over. :^)

  • Just sent a reply, CavemansBanana. Sorry for the delay. :^)

  • If you promise not to tell anybody, the secret ingredient is pressurized air from a duster can. :^)

  • wow...thats really cool. i love to draw and i draw ok, but can you give me a few tips? thanks and once again, i love your monsters!

  • Glad you like it, sammykafle. I'm happy to give you a few tips. What do you want to know?

  • umm...what to practice drawing and techniques i guess. thanx again!

  • That's insane that you do it upside down! Very cool!

  • Thank you, Jessica. I'm glad you like the Monsters. :^)

  • what do u use a pen or a marker?

  • Hi sodacan3. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombow ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper. :^)

  • ummmm wow oook ill look for them also u make awesome pictures

  • you have magic hands

  • You are very kind, AllPowerfulMitch. Thank you!

  • how do you get them to move, what kind of straw do you use?

  • Hi golfguy8899. A thin straw tends to work best. Pressure is what it's all about. I do the animation using Anime Studio 5. Cheap and easy.

  • wow, that is pretty cool and neat!Keep it up!:D, and the monster is "Alive Aliveeee!" LOL anyways..rock on!

  • Thank you, Enterthehaven. You're very kind. I'm glad you're digging the Monsters. :^)

  • your welcome!rock on for now!:D

  • I Love you too!

    xD

  • The Monsters love you, too, ButterDoll. :^)

  • wOw...i love all your monsters..

  • Thank you very much, nikolaihoe. You're very kind! I'm glad you're enjoying the Monsters! :^)

  • dude I just stumbled on these and I can not stop watching very nice work I however have a question for you when you do the paint/ink thing in the begining do you have a plan or is it random and you just go from there?

  • My jaw dropt when i saw this. wow!

  • You're very kind, The CartoonLoon. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. (Incidentally, I would like to adopt the CartoonLoon as the official currency of California.)

  • what program do u use to make the video go fast forword

  • Hi there, nelsonjoey. I actually use a really dumb jerry-rigged process ini Quicktime Pro. I copy the whole video, cut the clip in half, scale-paste the full clip into the new file, then export. Now it's half the length, twice the speed. Rinse and repeat until you get to about a minute length. Laborious, but effective.

  • If I may ask,

how exactly was the ending done?

was it stop motion or some type of program?

  • Hi there, hardcorepunisher13. I use Anime Studio 5. Good program, bad customer support, but still well worth it.

  • is the program hard to use?

because i've been looking for an editor program like that, yet can't find one that you don't need extensive training and practice to use.

  • You can follow my own education on the program going through the monsters in sequence. It's actually pretty straightforward.

  • i thought monsters were suppose to be scarey...

  • Well... I'm sure the Monsters are trying to be scary, but it takes practice. Right now they just can't disguise their friendly disposition.
