I love it here too.... I spend the whole day... pay my respects... and I always meet interesting people, since we are all pilgrims... searching together. So many great stories... I'm reading about them in the book "Permanent Parisians" by Culbertson.
My excitement is my daughter wants to visit here ... she loves old graves like I do... on her 2 day layover when she's on tour in Sweden this summer.
I'm leaving for Paris in 10 days...this is one of the definites on my list for my 2 week stay - so beautiful and peaceful...not interested in the Morrison grave at all , but rather the beautiful statuary and leaving flowers at the graves of Chopin and Piaf in particular...and Oscar Wilde of course! So much beauty..
Wow, can you mention where you visited? Been there many times and a few that seems I have not seen? Would be good with subititles of whom. Brilliant footage nonetheless.
The sculptures at Pere Lachaise are AS BEAUTIFUL AS THEY ARE DIVERSE...incredible place to visit...I was there in 2002, and I'm sorry to hear that tourtist are 'ruining' this incredible and 'one of a kind' resting place...like no other on earth
It really is one of the most beautiful places in paris, like being back there.. Its a shame that its become such a tourist haven, and the wrong tourists, the last two years Jim Morissons grave has just been surrounded by grinning japanese and germans getting photos, and oscar wildes tomb is virtually destroyed by graffiti now. Lovely video though.. have posted mine as a response, one of two we did this year whilst in paris. Hope you enjoy that as well..
wow! i've never been more anxious to visit the city! your video captured a whole other side of pere lachaise.. you did an amazing job portraying an almost dark romantic side... absolutely beautiful
Possibly the best video presentation of the cemetery I've seen. It certainly captured the incredible beauty and poignancy of the place as I saw it a few years ago. Thanks!
amazing. if i ever return to paris i will have to find this place and spend an afternoon walking.

Haris Alexiou recorded this song in Greek, called 'To Tango Tis Nefeli.' Beautiful.
