  • What a beautiful celebration! I adore these dancers outfits! I shall use them as in spiration for my own, as I am a pagan circle bellie dancer. Thank you for sharing this wonderful gift :)

  • Beautiful. So much love and celebration. Thank you for sharing! Blessed Be!

  • which song of faun is this???

  • Bellissime!

  • I came upon this video by accident while looking up hand fastings. I was so impressed by how beautifully this dance was incorporated into the ceremony. I've always felt that fusions dancers with a solid ATS base are strong dancers and it shows with you girls :) I'm getting married this coming Saturday and my ATS dance troupe (Euphraxia & Red Moon in Buffalo, NY) is doing a choreography with a strong ATS influence to a Loreena Mckennitt song. thanks for sharing :) ~Diana

  • @crazytribaldancer Thank you Diana, and Blessings on your marriage!

  • So beautiful! I love the circle and the dancers! What a way to make sure all the spirits are paying attention.

  • this ceremony has all the power and reverence of the old ways.. I was proud to watch it and moved deeply. I have been a high priest in hte service of the God and Goddess for almost 20 years now and feel honored to know htat htere are others who keep our rich and noble traditions alive beyond the time of stones.. blessed be and Gods go with you =D

  • @PeggFan76 Thank you , and Blessings!

  • What a gorgeous handfasting! I definitely need to have one of these when I get married. :)

  • I love the idea of fusing ATS with ritual dance. The costumes are great for the occasion, too.

  • Simply beautiful! I can feel the the connectivity with nature through the dance~

  • So beautiful.

  • What type of dance is this? I would LOVE to learn it!

  • It's a form of ritual Tribal Fusion: uses ATS as a base for the steps and as a method for improvisation, so that the Clan can ride the energies with no need of choreography. ATS moves have been modified to meet our needs by the artistic director -yours truly. It's used as a sacred tool within the Circle to raise energy and ask for specific blessings through symbolic movements and, of course, Will. You may be able to see Spirals, Circles, Runes and many other less obvious symbols.

  • The extended discussion here was enlightening, I think, no I really don't know. What I do know is that everything this video is beautiful. Thank you for posting it.

  • heavengurl899, you should know that the man you are calling a moron, idiot, unintelligent or whatever, that he knows nothing of his religion, just happens to be the Pagan Pride organizer for all of Italy, and the event director of Europe. The first clue is on his page.

    Pagan Pride Project=worldwide pagan festivals

And we all wonder why someone calls you a little girl...

When you blindly accuse someone in the field with his standing, you have no credibility in people's eyes.

  • to respect Kandire's request I sent you a personal message.

  • Ok folk, enough said. From now on I'll take Vanth's hint and remove any further non-constructive comment on this video. Thanks!

  • Very nice :) I would love to have something like this at my Handfasting, but my husband-to-be paired with myself instead (I'm a dancer)

  • Kandire, thank you for this beautiful dance. You're truly an inspiration to me. I'd love to come to Italy one day...

    Love and Light your way.

  • what exactly is the point of the dance? What is the point of the costumes? It just makes Wicca look hoaxey, which it clearly is not.

  • I don't see your point. The costumes have the same role and value that for others might have to wear a robe, or a cloak, or to be skyclad and so on. Everyone can dress up, decorate and charge their Circles in any way they want, without harm to anyone. I don't see any hoax in it. Why the dance? Because dance and music are blessed ways to be spiritual and celebrate, of course.

  • I will attest your point, but what does that kind of dress signify? Skyclad usually is done because people want to be one with nature, robes are worn to represent a certain role. What is the meaning of your costume?

And how are you being spiritual when you dance?I understand if you do it for your own pleasure, I, myself belly dance. But I've seen other videos where you record yourself basically belly dancing giving people false pretenses of Wicca!

I'm just confused and a response is appreciated.

  • The specific meanings of our costumes is private, but as a general indication they are, as well as the music, related to the Little People. You understand that robes or capes are worn to represent a role and create a certain set for the mind, so why can't you see the same goes for other kinds of special garments? Never heard of Eclectic Wicca? I find somewhat surprising that you don't understand how to be spiritual while dancing: we do chant, drum and dance in rituals since the dawn of time.

  • Private? That's your answer? I'm sorry but for a logical argument that answer doesn't really cover it. By role I didn't mean "a maiden of the Renaissance" rather I meant the place in a coven. Who are the Little People?

I have heard of Eclectic Wicca but I don't understand their significance to this argument.

I'm not saying that some dancing isn't sacred. But your dancing, in particular, seems more for show than for worship. Get defensive as you want I just call it like I see it.

  • "Private" was not my answer, as I thought you should have been able to gather from the rest of my post. But indeed I'm not sharing correspondences tailor made for a specific Circle anymore than I have already.

Not everything has to fit into the rules of a coven, nor in someone else's set of standards on what is right, as any eclectic very well knows. I'm sure you might find your own resources on the Little People if you wish so.

  • "The specific meanings of our costumes is private, but as a general indication they are, as well as the music, related to the Little People." That was your answer, you clearly said that it is "private". And you're right that you don't have to fit into certain "rules" or "standards" many religions say similar things nowadays. My problem is that whether you like it or not you represent Wicca and by wearing Renaissance/Medieval outfits you just make it look like an escape religion for people

  • So you should see how I didn't limit my reply to just "is private" leaving it at that: I told you that the specific details are private, obviously belonging only to the people involved in the Circle, but I also did gave you a clear indication on the general meaning of our stylistic choice. The problem is that you didn't understand my answer, because of your lack of knowledge and experience.

  • That answer is fair enough. But please tell me what I didn't understand. What am I not understanding? I promise I will try if you just tell me. I'm not trying to judge nor am I putting my "beliefs" on you. If you did answer my question please just point out where you did.

  • people who think they live in the 1600's and below. If there is no point to it but your own enjoyment than why wear something that misrepresents your way of life. And the dancing in this video is not done for any spiritual purpose!

I looked up the Little People and nothing came out other than midgets (because Little People is the politically correct term) so if you could please let me know what they are so I can correct my statement if I have offended you.

  • Don't pretend to logic if you don't use it yourself, gurl. You said yourself you didn't understand what she was doing, so where do you come off calling it pretentious and misrepresentative? How dare you? What are you, 20 years old? Don't be two-faced.

"Her own enjoyment"? ?Are you daft? Or just dumb? She explicitly stated that there are specific correspondences to everything that is being done, and that includes costumes and dance movements whether you get it or not.

  • It's "girl" not "gurl". Yes actually I am 20 years old. I don't understand how I'm being "2 faced". I never called her pretentious.

Insulting me does not give your argument any baring. I'm sorry. I asked what those correspondences were and she said they were "private".

I'm not judging Wicca. Little People, like I said before hand, is the politically correct term for midgets. I don't know how hard it is to explain the idea's of fairy's to me (I looked it up on a book not google).

  • And if you pretend to judge Wicca, or any kind of spirituality in any of its representations, and you can't even figure out what Little People might refer to *having Google at your fingertips* then you don't know your arse from a hole in the ground, little girl.

  • I'm sorry if I offended you but I don't know what spurred this attack, and yes it is an attack. Instead of just insulting me I'd suggest teaching. Getting defensive and blindly attacking someone is what "monotheistic religions" do and I thought that was frowned upon here. Clearly not.

    Practice what you preach.

Don't say that I'm illogical when you clearly have no idea what I said.

But thanks for the random attack. Blessed Be. :)

  • also I'm sure if you actually researched Wicca you'd find that many Wiccans are irritated with the "belly dancing" going on in festivals because, as they say, it misrepresents them.

  • And many other wiccans do love to use dance as a sacred tool in their practice. In our community here in Italy dance and the Craft go along beautifully, and the same goes for many other international neopagan communities. We do not need you to tell us which kind of dance can be sacred dance and which one cannot, thanks.

  • I never said dancing was wrong. I wanted to know how your dancing, in particular, was worship. I've seen many Wiccan dances so I'm not ignorant, I just wanted to ask how yours was worship. I am not telling you what is or is not sacred I'm just asking how it's sacred.

  • Look, heavengurl, one last thing.

I do understand what you mean. I know where you are coming from and that is why I know you are the source of misrepresentation here.

I know how Ren Fairs, SCA types, festivals, so-called reenactment, fantasy and historical-fantasy roleplaying at cons or Faires often have intercrossing lines of interest in the modern pagan movement and its most famous daughter, Wicca. I know the dynamic of the subculture.

But that is not what is going on here.

  • Thank you! Maybe that's where I'm wrong because the two are one in my head. I don't understand what is going on here and I'd really just love an explanation.

  • But I just don't get how I'm the misrepresentation here. You keep on shouting it but you never back up your thesis's with any premises. T

  • Actually I'm not interested in amplifying your knowledge of the Art, expecially after you came to me accusing me of falsely representing Wicca.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • I did not remove any of your comments.

  • my roommate, ignore that part.

  • That's fine, I could care less, but let me clarify your statement so it reflects more of what I said and less of how you perceived it. I never said YOU misrepresent Wicca. All I asked is what the clothes and dance have to do with Wiccan. I was also explaining to you how you look to the scholarly world, which does not misrepresent Wiccan belief. It is more a representation of WHO Wiccan's are. I'm sorry that you and Wizardguy took my statement offensively but I cannot apologize for my questions.

  • You don't have to apologize for questions. It's your attitude that needs adjustment. You need to snap out of your localized belief system and realize that there is a huge pagan movement in the world, which includes wicca, and quite frequently dancing and what you seem to like to call belly dancing...which, if you studied a little, would know that this isn't belly dancing.

Are you yet another youtuber incapable of reading the descriptions of the videos? First thing it says? Tribal Fusion.

  • Actually it is belly dancing. Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is a form of modern belly dance generally referring to a combination (fusion) of many dance forms. It frequently incorporates elements of Popping, Hip Hop, Breakdance, 'Egyptian' or 'Cabaret' belly dance.

You know Wizard with the internet "at your fingers" I thought you'd be able to figure that one out.

  • If you could care less, then why do you spend so much time misinterpreting and/or not understanding what is clearly written to you, heavengurl?

You are not her student. She does not have to tell you anything. She did tell you more than you deserve, in my opinion. And you haven't figured out, with the internet at your fingers, what Little People means in a pagan context. Why should she go on and give free lessons online to someone she doesn't even know.

  • I could care less that she gives me an explanation. I merely asked a question. If you claim it's clearly written then me or anyone who is not of the same mindset as you are, should understand it. I don't and neither has anyone who I've shown this too. You're right I'm not her student. But would you allow someone who has a false belief of Wicca to hold onto that belief just because they're "not your student".

  • I'm not going to get into the Little People argument again. You're using it to try to mock my intelligence but it's not really getting you or me, anywhere.

  • The most amazing thing, heavengurl, and it's freaking hilarious if you're in the know, is just who there is on this thread! LOL. And you want to talk about misrepresenting Wicca! ROFL

I tell ya, the Universe works in hilarious ways.

  • I didn't understand that last part. Sorry it made no sense.

  • If you would like to enlighten me as to WHO is on this thread, what great and marvelous being is on this thread I would love to know. Otherwise I don't know and I really don't care. You could be the president of the USA and I wouldn't care. Sorry, status doesn't impress me.

  • Well, since you seem to know that much about Wicca, why don't you enlighten us about what would not make it look hoaxey? Especially given that dances are performed at the greatest part of the Pagan Pride events in the world? I guess all these give the wrong impression of Wicca too...

  • Belly dancing is? Hmmm, not the dances I've seen. And I'm not saying I know EVERYTHING about Wicca. I'm merely suggesting that I'm not some fanatic that is trying to bring Wicca down, rather I'm a Wicca sympathizer and the fact that it has this bad reputation of being hoaxey because of costumes and role playing.

Everyday Wiccan's aren't like that but the media like to portray them like that. Pleas tell me you see the media bias as well.

  • you are actually being judgemental of something you clearly have no clue about, meaning both Wicca, the pagan movement in general and the dances in question. And in dong this it is actually you who has a damaging attitude. If you actually were to know what the person in question had done for Wicca and the pagan movement in the past ten years, you should run and hide in shame.

  • So just because someone has done something great means they shouldn't be questioned? In that case whenever you critique the pope you should "hide in shame" whenever your critique the dali lama you should "hide in shame". Hell if you critique Obama you should "hide in shame".

No I'm not being judgmental. You're being entirely illogical. This argument is going down the shitter. I am NOT going to hide in shame! Over what? This is absolutely ridiculous.

    Stop being defensive and psychotic.

  • Over the simple fact that you are saying a bunch of crap basicaly, just for the sake of fanning your own ego flaming someone else: this is evident from the fact that you have received answers to each of your questions but still you go on without listening what you have been told. Sadly this was evident from the beginning, so I would have simply cancelled your first remark to begin with: Kandire's fault has been to be too kind and to try to actually talk to you as if you would have listened

  • You should definitely hide in shame since with every message you manage to cast a worse light on yourself and on your intelligence, which clearly is extremely limited.

To make a very simple example that maybe even you could understand, using your own words, basically with your accusations you are telling the Dalai Lama he is not buddhist enough.

Do yourself a favour: shut up. It is way better to keep the mouth shut and let people think you are stupid than to speak and confirm it beyond doubt

  • "this is evident from the fact that you have received answers to each of your questions" i've been following this thread for my own amusement for about a week and i can't say i see any answer to the question: "what exactly is the point of the dance?" best feeble attempt being they relate to the little people which google seems to think are elves/fairies/people in animal's clothes. Not that i actually care about your imagined theology but heavengurl seems to, which is her fault

  • point being if you idiots ever want an accepted religion you should probably explain to people why you do things, other than you feel like it. The reason I and many people detest wicca is that it is devoid of meaning and uses a broadly generalized understanding of pagan religion to justify dancing around, mostly frivolously. So i charge you: either explain things with clarity (you are not mysterious or mystical, this isn't harry potter) or face continuous persecution by the majority of people.

  • I have to thank you zerozain, for proving so effectively my point, even though your intention was the opposite I reckon.

And the point actually is that this girl came here to say that what was done let to a misinterpretation of something she does not know. In fact she received the answer to the question but she did not understand it because, just like you, she does not know what Wicca is about at all, and so she is not here to understand, but rather to flaunt her ego flaming someone else.

  • So she dances for the Little People? That's the answer that was so circularly given?

  • Having said this, there is a time and a space for everything. The work to promote the understanding of a spiritual way goes on in spite of you and the petty prejudices you show: I am not going to waste my time here with you about this.

A constructive dialogue can be had with someone unprejudiced and willing to listen, and it's clear that you are neither.

  • ...I have an unprejudiced view and you still attacked me. Don't try to play that bullshit card.

  • You don't have an unprejudiced view at all. You came here bitching about this and that under pretenses of what was being done in this dance based solely upon your experiences in the u.s.

If you had had an unprejudiced view, you wouldn't have come across guns blazing to begin with, little girl.

  • Actually although I live in the US I'm not American. Sorry. I guess when you assume stuff you make an ass mostly of yourself. Stop calling me a little girl though, that's useless.

  • nobody said you were american. The comment made refers to the predilections of your statements, which indicate a local bias, as people have tried to show you.

  • You have what...? heavengurl you shoot statements like "I've seen other videos where you record yourself basically belly dancing giving people false pretenses of Wicca!" or "And the dancing in this video is not done for any spiritual purpose! " How on Earth can you say something like that.

  • Well I used my fingers and typed on the keyboard something very similar to what you did a few hours ago...

  • Compliments on your sense of humor. Go on, reply "thank you".

  • :) thank you!

  • Suffice to say that, to your dismay, we have an excellent relationship with the media, the universities and the insitutions both national and international, which see our way a little more deeply than "dancing around, mostly frivolously".

But this should not surprise: you just see what is in your eye. Being superficial, you see things as superficial.

  • Did you not read my comments? I NEVER ever said she wasn't Wiccan enough. BACK UP YOUR ARGUMENTS WITH PROOF. Where did I say that? Seriously you're a moron. If English is your first language go back to school. Eloquence does not equal intelligence.

  • When you say someone misrepresents something, then they are obviously not enough of that something to represent it. Are you really so dumb to not understand the actual threats and insults you have in your writing?

  • No, the actual meaning of misrepresentation is "to represent incorrectly, improperly, or falsely." So it's not that they're not "enough" of something. I suggest you understand the definition of something before you get into an argument.

Yes I guess I am dumb because there are NO threats in ANY of my statements. Here is the definition "a declaration of an intention or determination to inflict punishment, injury, etc., in retaliation for, or conditionally upon, some action or course"

  • Using the most restricted and absolutist definition of a word very conveniently separates you from any personal responsibility whatsoever as to that particular word's shades of meaning and correlated implications. That is a very limited and self-serving tendency. At best.

  • There is no response to any of your other attacks. I clearly see that you, as a proclaimed Wiccan, do not represent the religion at all and I'm sorry to see this. I know many Wiccans who are good people and would never act like this. The Wiccan rede clearly states In these eight words, the Wiccan Rede fulfill

"An' it harm none, do what thou wilt."

  • I am done with your argument vanthspiritwalker. You may insult me all you want but it's going to deaf ears.

  • I had no doubt whatsoever about it

  • All of this is going on deaf ears.

  • ....I just said that.....

  • questo è successo nella mia sardegna????? che bello ci dovevo essere xò....=)

  • I always enjoy watching Kandire's dance. Very elegant and the cues are not obvious at all. I just started taking ATS and last year got into Tribal. Just love it! The only thing I would have wanted to see different in this performance, is to see the ladies dance AROUND the couple, making a full complete circle as a circle has no beginning... or end... a lot like true love.

  • Hi, we did circle around the couple with live drumming for ritualistic reasons beforehand, but in order to perform improvisational dance we had to have a clear vision of each other. Thanks!

  • Oh, I see. Thanks for mentioning that as that had not occured to me being I'm still very new to cues for improvisational dance. Makes perfect sense now :-)

  • Un Unione delle mani a Matera? Spettacolo!!

    Bella la danza.

    bb

  • Such beautiful and expressive choreography. You both are very graceful.

  • Thank you, but actually this is improvisation, not a choreography. We use the same improvisational principles of ATS. Glad you liked it.

  • Wow, I didn't even notice this was ATS! Very well done. :) Usually you can tell when it is because someone is a 1/2 sec. behind in the dance moves. You two were not. xo

  • It isn't ATS, it's Tribal Fusion: ATS-based fusion. ATS steps and combos are modified and fused with different styles of dance, costumes and music. In my troupe, we keep the same improvisational system based on cues and on just following harmonically the current leader. : )

  • Yes, I know what Tribal Fusion is. I was simply making a statement about the ATS part of it. I could not tell it was improv, that is all. =)

  • Perfect and simply beautiful. What song is it by Faun?

  • It's Von den Elben, from the album Licht. The whole album is gorgeous. Thanks!

  • so beautiful - I nearly cried!! x

  • Thank you... :)
