Actually, the idea that the word 'pagan' comes from the latin word for 'country-dweller' is actually incorrect. It actually means something like 'citizen' or 'member of the city/county' (something along those lines), which was used by Christians to refer to Ancient Pagans, because Christians referred to themselves as "Soldiers of Christ" (so pagans were citizens as opposed to soldiers). Pretty sure I read that in "Modern Paganism in World Cultures : Comparative Perspectives" by Michael Strmiska
Hello cutewitch772, I have not hurd from u in a month, and I still have some Qs that Need A's. Like Why did u choose the wiccan way. Who told u about wicca, do u know any wiccans. And What can u tell me about wicca. I look forward to hearing from u. Blessed Be!
Nice to here from u cutewitch772. BTW very fitting penname. Thank u for the correction. I've herd that male witches are called warlocks that is why I used the term. I have been to catholic masses, and yes they are very much like wicca, I alway's said it reminded me of druidic gatherings. Please tell me how u got into wicca, and why u chose it even though it is looked badly upon by so many people.
I've noticed quite a similarity in wicca and my Celtic ancestor's. Well Nordic as well. I practice healing. and and I know some wiccans personal. I see that u believe in one almighty god and the goddess mother nature. I do believe they are one and the same. The term Witch came from the work wicca. Wicca was a practice many years ago which was a craft of healing. I am not a warlok but i am a healer. And yes i call my self a Pagan Christian. So I kinda understand the questions which get thrown.
@Penmaster16 I would hope you're not a warlock! That's a term used to denote someone who has broken an oath. I think maybe you meant to imply that you are not a male practitioner of witchcraft? Male witches are still called witches, if they choose to use that term. But no, not warlock. And I tend to agree with you, I see similarities in many religions and paths, even in the rituals I witnessed in Catholicism. Once we know what to look for, I think there are many similarities.
Hi there Cara, nice vid; & here's an lnteresting & presumably
much-thought-of question: Do U ever feel like ur always being watched? esp wen ur doing litle outdoor spells & rituals? whether it be by neighbors or othrs? & interestingly wen u Do turn to see if any1 is looking, there is often som1 there, with a perplexed look, wonderin if ur "right in ur head" simply because u wave ur hand in a particular way or do some similar, noble-meaning gesture? If so, How do y'all cope? thanks, BlessedBe
@cutewitch772 Well, the answer/disscussion would bring closure 2 a lot of wiccans, about this relateable but touchy & seemingly taboo topic, esp 4 those who still identify as being "in the wiccan closet". As 4 those who answer it, it would be good if this group's members post vids on it (wudnt be surprised if ther r a lot of comments); but ur generally REALLY good in the way you express yourself and what U mean, which is why the qu was posted adjacent 2 ur vid, no rush tho, thanks, BlessedBe
I'm a solitary eclectic wiccan as well, but I don't follow the wiccan rede.. I follow the 'If it harms none, do as you will'-thing, and I believe in the Threefold law.. but the wiccan rede.. no, that's like a poem to me, a piece of inspiration..
@lobke0102 The Rede is essentially just that final couplet. The whole thing is a poem, yes, but what most of us refer to as the Rede, the word of advice we follow, IS just "An it harm none, do as ye will." I don't think I know anyone that follows the entire poem down to the last rhyme. Interesting point to bring up, though! I never thought of that.
@bellatrix2253 What, a solitary eclectic Wiccan witch? Hah, I'm sure there are more if that's what you meant. It is a ridiculously long-sounding description, though. But accurate!
@christowitch2005 I've done that before, and I just checked again since you mentioned it. Still nothing. There are drum circles and things an hour away, but that's the closest. NOTHING is ever less than an hour from my tiny town, I'm used to it. If there was anything closer, kind of off-the-radar, I think I'd know by now. I've gone to every little random event and psychic fair places have, my mom was part of a spiritual co-op and I met spiritual type people there. No one ever had a group.
Self dedicated yourself...really?! LOL. You did get it right. Matter a fact I mentioned it in one of my videos titled "My Path". I say in there that it just seems like the closest definition to discribe myself and I don't know how else to explain it in so few words. LOL.
The wiccan question has always been interesting to me, and I've jumped on all wagons that were around, from 'you can't be a wiccan unless you're initiated by an ordained wiccan', to 'fudge authorities, you can be what you want!' At the moment, I am more and more inclined to think that, whichever path you choose, whichever religion, it's your choice, and calling yourself this or that lins you with that religion, and so what you choose to practice is what you are. You alone can do that.
I wanted to comment last night, but my computer sucked and I couldn't watch your whole vid. I wanted to tell you that I think you may have caught a walk-on-water thing with that heron. lol
I used to be a coven and am now solitary. I didn't like the power hungry control that a couple people began to grown into the Coven. And I was like,"Wait... we are witches. Isn't this what we are all against." So yeahhhhhh. I now practice with just a large group of pagan friends I have here. :) And you have said everything I would have said. DAMMIT! :P
@PurpleKillJoy That would be a concern of mine with a coven, but I do believe it's possible to find a small group that really works well together. If I can find that, I'd love it.
And you're not me! I'm sure you have something else to say, or elaborate on. I touched on a couple things Anni said but said them anyway lol.
@ofthefaeries That's sweet! I have a particularly hippie-ish friend whose last name is Green and people frequently asked him if he changed his name on purpose lol. Yay for coincidental naming. (Or is it? O_o)
@cutewitch772 At least mine's not quite that much of a giveaway. XD My name in full means (Royally)Crowned meadow Pagan. ...which is kind of funny and weird at once. Though my catholic great aunt wasn't as amused as me when I told her what our surname meant...
My own feelings on coven vs solitary label; religion should not require anything but you and what you consider the Divine. If the gods accept you- that's all that matters.
I could discuss this topic forever but that would mean a lot of spam on your video but it's such an interesting one and I agree with what you've said. Definitions is a tricky thing but I think as long as you're happy with what you call yourself that's good enough :)
@cutewitch772 lol, point taken :) there'll be a VR up sometime in the near-ish future. For some reason I decided it was a good idea to leave my webcam at home when I went to my dad's.
Oh yayness! :) You saw my audition (which was quite bad but yeah )
I remember two friends of mine getting into an argument with a high priestess here in Sweden when they were younger about this very subject which is what got me interested in it. I see myself as a solitary eclectic wiccan and there's still been people online telling me that "Oh you're a seeker. You're not a wiccan yet." which I find is quite insulting cos who are they to decide what you are?
@JasmineEsMi Yeah, I think that's rude. You may very well be a seeker if you're still not sure, and I am still learning about as many other religions as I can, because I just really like learning about other practices. But I'm Wiccan. My beliefs may or may not change with time, but I'm secure in that now.
well said, I made my Friday video yesterday and DR is suppose to post it Friday, I'm off to visit my dying sister, a witch too, who is nearing the end of life, she has ALS her brain is intact her body not, horrible, horrible malady.

I hate all the ''you've got to be initiated'' bull aswell. I think being solitary eclectic pagan/wiccan is the best.

also try witchvox.com to find information about other pagans within your area. They may have a coven if you are really wanting to join one.
