Nadal is not better than Roddick. Nadal is just lucky to have been born 4 years later and caught a Federer past his prime. Had Nadal been born 4 years earlier he only would have won slams on clay. Had Roddick been born 4 years later he would have won many more slams than just the one US Open. Don't just look at the amount of slams, also see who they had to beat to win those slams.

Roddick was unfortunate to have his prime coincide with Roger's. His path to glory was blocked by the Swiss like 15 times. We'll never know how many slams each would have acquired if born at a different time, but I really think the difference in class is not as big as the 10:1 grand slam ratio makes it seem.
