It's just crazy how, even with all the different "takes" they do, that they sound basically like the finished product. So in tune, so tight -- The Beatles have no parallel.
@esteestardust Yeah, screaming in rock n' roll songs was the thing to do in the sixties. I've paid attention to the screams, listening to them carefully, and The Beatles were the best at it. I guess that only makes sense. They were after all the best.
I wonder who started the screams. I'm guessing Little Richard. His screams were hilarious. Others that followed manned them up.
Takes 11 & 12 were just dubbing on handclaps. Take one actually became the one they used and is the one you hear. They tried more tracks because John flubbed a word at the very end and then got off time a little with Paul (also at the end). The 1-2-3-4 count in was dubbed in from take 9.
@quiznationrules The count-in in Taxman was NOT "faked." George counted in in half time and used a deep voice to be funny but in the background you can hear McCartney counting in in real time "1-2-3-GO!".
@quiznationrules No I don't, because Wikipedia is riddled with errors and bullshit. In this case, you don't need Wikipedia if you have ears. Oh, and there's actually at least FOUR Beatles song that start with the count-in: "Yer Blues" on the White Album also does. So I'm afraid you're just wrong.
@quiznationrules In any case, since you mentioned it, the Wikipedia entry for "Taxman" says the following: "McCartney can be heard shouting the actual count-in underneath the distorted one (in the stereo version, McCartney's count-in is in the left speaker)" -- which is exactly what I said in my previous post. "The actual count-in." QED.

@eclecticear Yes they are tight and were great artists. but I've listened to the final cut a lot and you can hear the minor offs.
planesx12 1 year ago
@eclecticear Remember, this was a band that played marathon sets in the most notorious roughest
dives in Hamburg & Liverpool. By the time they recorded their first LP, it was pure second nature & the
beauty of it ...... The Beatles were just getting started!!! It's fascinating hearing these takes.

HMMM; i don't know, but probably the beatles just wanted a token black guy like all those sitcoms of the 60s did.
or does anybody really believe the brady kids had any black friends?

The only Beatles song that keeps the count in on the album is this one.
quiznationrules 2 years ago
@quiznationrules Not true. "Taxman" begins with the count-in and so does the Reprise of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band."
gpc 1 year ago
@gpc The "Taxman" one was faked because it was the opening song on the album, and so what about Sgt. Pepper's?
