Why is it that you don't use the in-game demo recorder for the video?

because it doesnt make a video, it makes a demo file that has to be ran in game and recorded with that software anyways.

@JoshuaTreeTully Not if you use "startmovie filename avi" - This records an avi directly in-game. It also provides much higher quality, depending on the codec you choose. It asks you for one after you type the command.

Forgot to mention: You record a demo, then play it, and while it's playing, *then* you use the startmovie command.
