I love this song . . pity the video isn't better quality . . who's that introducing them? It looks like it could be the internationally convicted peadophile Gary Glitter (Paul Gadd)
This is such a great song, and while this video skips at the start, it's a pleasure to watch these guys perform the piece on the stage. Spend a buck and grab it on iTunes ... seriously worth it.
Justin and John have been favs of mine since 1969. I've seen the Moodies in concert more than 20 times from Denver, CO to Southampton, England to Hartford, CT.
They're always great; always good; and never disappoint....so when are the Moodies going into the R & R HOF?
Do you have this in 45? I do, my Uncle George gave me lot's of music of this era, not for airplay, but I treasure it still, his radio station played them all, I just had those that weren't top 10-JW
I was fortunate to see the Moody`s last week in Toronto......great seats....fantastic show....played all the tunes I`d want to hear and some surprises.......they look great.....sound great......what a blast....never thought I`d see the day even though I`m not 100 years old yet......
Slightly inaccurate... The Moody's never 'broke up, they did as many long-lived bands have done and took a break from the group and everyone 'did their own thing' (solo projects/duos). Once they got that out of their systems, had a chance to start families without the rigor of touring the world all year long, they reformed and made Octave (albeit, Mike opted out for going back on the road, so he departed and stayed in Cali.). Hopefully before the end, they will ALL go back out for one last show
Justin and John are still obviously fit (and I do mean that in the proper sense....... ) by any standards and have years of performing left in them, but Graeme looked as if he was going to pass out at times during their recent tour. On one particular evening at the Albert Hall I was really concerned for him because from where I was I could see him totally breathless behind his drumkit.
Definately not, but why you are questioning this makes me think that U R an A R S E H OL E . if you are relating to Glitter and all he has shamed himself with.
Reminds me of a lost love in Liverpool many years ago, still think of Cathy Thomas like it was yesterday, you are still in my heart after all these years, this song keeps alive a memory. I think she moved to Bristol and got married :(
Beautiful! These guys (especially Justin Credible) will always be "the" man for me! Never tire of hearing them, play them constantly and have the last 30 plus years!
This song is an absolute classic, another winner from Hayward. In fact, this might be one of my top 5 faves of his, right up there with things like "Tuesday Afternoon" and "Gypsy".
This is from a UK TV called Supersonic. It used to be on on a Saturday afternoon in the 1970s. The other clip with John getting drowned in fake snow is from the Supersonic Christmas show of 1975.
My first MB songs weres "DAWN" and "TUESDAY AFTERNOON" Named my first daughter "Dawn". Also got the inspriration from Ray Thomas to play the flute over 35 yrs ago!
They will always be more then JUST A SINGER INA A ROCKN ROLL BAND!!
Thank you for the info on all MB's. I had the original 30+yrs ago and recently purchased the Cd BLUE JAYS and the last song is BLUE GUITAR, I had never heard it and now (of course iy's on my favorats list... Keep the positive, informitive, info comming. I can never get enough.
I'm not too sure. Maybe justin is sining in the background and harmonising with himself. The only trouble is that you can't reproduce that sound on stage without a separate vocalist, enter John
As far as Justin and John...your right! I just didn't want to be a hog and say I want them both...but only together! And your right! John is the bomb!
You can hear john on the CD, but it's very faint. And this deffinitely is not the same guitar version as the CD because the notes at the end are played totaly differently. Listen to this one after the CD and you'll hear the difference
I think the guys employed a backing track for their performance of this song....I think the singing and guitar playing is live w/ the synths and backing guitars recorded in such a way as to allow them to have the full effect when playing this live. Blue Jays was (and is) an album famous for it's exquisite harmonies and melodies and you can defintely hear them showing this off while singing this song.
I absolutely love this song! Has anyone ever questioned the possible lyrical significance? What do you think JH means by the first and second chorus? I'd love to share my interpretation but I'd like to read any thoughts you might have!
Ahhh, the Moodies. What can I say... as a young teen I remember walking home from a party on a warm, beautiful summer night and there was just... a change in the air.
That's when I first heard Tuesday Afternoon.
That Moodies feeling just crept into my soul...
And wasn't it fortunate that years later, theirs was the first music we chose to play while trying out the psychedelics. That made them a permanent part of who I am. This song is just lovely.
Oh wow! Thanks for this video, truly amazing. My parents used to play their records when I was a kid, so I've grown up loving them. I actually got to see them live a few nights ago. Hayward's voice hasn't changed a bit! At the end of the show, he said," Thanks for keeping the faith!"
If you had bought the single as I did and still have then you would know it was the studio version but that still doesn,t take away the fact that they couldn,t have done it as well live because they could and did.
pretty hard to play that song live, very complicated on the album, you would need an orchestra and other session musicians to play other guitars but well done nonetheless.
funny you can find a gem like this video but unable to find not one clip from haywards "live in capistrano" / is it really worth the 3o dollar asking price?
Just work of Genius ! Such a profound song, the understanding of blues guitar that's in tune with the lyrics, and they make it so simple, Brilliant...
just a grt song. grt post. and although there might be some live singing there's just too many overdubs heard, double speed guitars, orchestration, voiceovers, etc., for the performance to have been done w/o recordings, so i agree with dino47. and, because it seems the thing to do here, i have been a solid fan since NIWS, although i purposefully forget what year that was...and don't want to be reminded!
The guitar solo and ending is very different to the recorded version so I would say it's a live performance. It's difficult to tell with Justin Hayward's vocals as he is always pretty near note-perfect live.

Gorgeous, Beautiful. There is no question in my mind that Justin will continue to play until he can play no more.
I understand that Graeme had neck surgery shortly before the tour, and then was under the weather as well. I hope he's feeling better soon!
It's clear that these guys love what they are doing!

You're referring to an almost unrecognizable Gary Glitter seated at the control panel.

It is only unrecognizeable because it.s been enhanced to make it look like it was someone else.
But as you stated yourself it is Gary Gliter and even though my original comment has been deleted it is still the same person I am relating to.
