  • Fantastic album!!

  • I love this song . . pity the video isn't better quality . . who's that introducing them? It looks like it could be the internationally convicted peadophile Gary Glitter (Paul Gadd)

  • The 60s, We had it it all.

  • This is such a great song, and while this video skips at the start, it's a pleasure to watch these guys perform the piece on the stage. Spend a buck and grab it on iTunes ... seriously worth it.

  • Justin Hayward is so freaken sexy... i just melt for his writing and voice.

  • @Wildflowertg thats m the masculine answer to ANNIE HASLAM

  • nice haircut justin...were ya the bhurd fae the Nimble bread advert?

  • Justin is seriously hot! 2 gorgeous Brits!

  • Why,It,s the Man who everyone loved in the 70,s who was introducing this on Supersonic.

Pity,He fell from grace in the 90,s though. Is that the reason his face is pixcelled?

  • Justin and John have been favs of mine since 1969. I've seen the Moodies in concert more than 20 times from Denver, CO to Southampton, England to Hartford, CT.

They're always great; always good; and never disappoint....so when are the Moodies going into the R & R HOF?

  • Hey, it's Supersonic.

  • sweet

  • OMG, I love you!!!

  • luv~luv this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The whole "Bluejays" album is great. It's like a second wind.

  • Listen to 'Who are you now' from the Blue Jays-awesome song. But so is Blue Guitar. Hell- they're all awesome! Live forever, Moodies!!

  • Great pop song.

  • If you don't know the song

If you can't put the words to the tune

Tell the rhyme from the reason

    What should it matter

To the fool or the dreamer

  • Do you have this in 45? I do, my Uncle George gave me lot's of music of this era, not for airplay, but I treasure it still, his radio station played them all, I just had those that weren't top 10-JW

  • I was fortunate to see the Moody`s last week in Toronto......great seats....fantastic show....played all the tunes I`d want to hear and some surprises.......they look great.....sound great......what a blast....never thought I`d see the day even though I`m not 100 years old yet......

    Cheers!

    Ronbo

  • @klatu100

I was there too and I totally agree. A beautiful night by the lake with the best band ever...it doesn't get any better than that!!

  • There are two lots of singing going on here. It is sounding a bit like a round, although it's enough to do your head in. Great stuff anyway.

  • Graeme has never looked after himself. Smokes and drinks far too much. Justin and John work out and have a really healthy lifestyle--and it shows.

  • thanks for that.....wasnt he cute???

  • havent seen or heard this video or song in forever!! its still great. justin hayward had amazing voice. whatever happened to him?

  • it was produced by 10cc and they also did the backing music

  • I tought Justin did this song with 10cc when the Moodie Blues broke up.

  • Slightly inaccurate... The Moody's never 'broke up, they did as many long-lived bands have done and took a break from the group and everyone 'did their own thing' (solo projects/duos). Once they got that out of their systems, had a chance to start families without the rigor of touring the world all year long, they reformed and made Octave (albeit, Mike opted out for going back on the road, so he departed and stayed in Cali.). Hopefully before the end, they will ALL go back out for one last show

  • I still have the Moody Blues first album, I've got War of The Worlds but I've never heard of the Blue Jays! How did I miss this?

  • not even into moodies/heywood (and i'm old enough to be) but this is as good as it gets !

  • Gorgeous, Beautiful. There is no question in my mind that Justin will continue to play until he can play no more.

I understand that Graeme had neck surgery shortly before the tour, and then was under the weather as well. I hope he's feeling better soon!

It's clear that these guys love what they are doing!

  • Justin and John are still obviously fit (and I do mean that in the proper sense....... ) by any standards and have years of performing left in them, but Graeme looked as if he was going to pass out at times during their recent tour. On one particular evening at the Albert Hall I was really concerned for him because from where I was I could see him totally breathless behind his drumkit.

  • It may happen sooner than we think. Having seen them at their recent tour, I don't know how much longer Graeme can keep going for.

  • Thank You !

  • Brilliant song just a pity it was introduced by a perverted paedophile bastard.

  • You're referring to an almost unrecognizable Gary Glitter seated at the control panel.

  • It is only unrecognizeable because it.s been enhanced to make it look like it was someone else.

But as you stated yourself it is Gary Gliter and even though my original comment has been deleted it is still the same person I am relating to.

  • It truly is him, but do you fault someone trying to obscure his image?

  • R U A TWAT !!!!!!!!!!

  • Definately not, but why you are questioning this makes me think that U R an A R S E H OL E . if you are relating to Glitter and all he has shamed himself with.

  • still play the album, what a voice

  • This speaks to your heart and soul

  • Reminds me of a lost love in Liverpool many years ago, still think of Cathy Thomas like it was yesterday, you are still in my heart after all these years, this song keeps alive a memory. I think she moved to Bristol and got married :(

    vdt319y

  • Gorgeous in more ways than one. :)

  • I love this vidoe...

    Justin is so hot!

  • sounds really nice!

  • Beautiful! These guys (especially Justin Credible) will always be "the" man for me! Never tire of hearing them, play them constantly and have the last 30 plus years!

  • I have no words to describe how I feel looking at this ... take my breath away.

  • This song is an absolute classic, another winner from Hayward. In fact, this might be one of my top 5 faves of his, right up there with things like "Tuesday Afternoon" and "Gypsy".

  • There is a deep abiding bond with Moody fans, and I understand it......respect.

  • Justin is so beautiful!

  • I quite agree!

  • I read on a tapers link, that there was a Blue Jays tour. Are any of these versions of Blue Guitar from that tour?

    If not....where is that footage?....

  • This is from a UK TV called Supersonic. It used to be on on a Saturday afternoon in the 1970s. The other clip with John getting drowned in fake snow is from the Supersonic Christmas show of 1975.

  • Please God, take me now. What is more beautiful than this?

  • i like the other vid with john 's hair full of confetti! lol! no really thanks for posting

  • ARRGGH! I had the originall Blue Jays lp back in the day and this wasn't on it!!!

    WHY OH WHY I ASK?????????

  • My first MB songs weres "DAWN" and "TUESDAY AFTERNOON" Named my first daughter "Dawn". Also got the inspriration from Ray Thomas to play the flute over 35 yrs ago!

They will always be more then JUST A SINGER INA A ROCKN ROLL BAND!!

  • Thank you for the info on all MB's. I had the original 30+yrs ago and recently purchased the Cd BLUE JAYS and the last song is BLUE GUITAR, I had never heard it and now (of course iy's on my favorats list... Keep the positive, informitive, info comming. I can never get enough.

  • This is...just...stunningly beautiful. XD

  • Beautiful performance.

  • racist prat boil ya head if u can find it

  • This is grt but need more Bjays here, unless i missed? album is superb.

    thanx moodiesfan!

  • I'm not too sure. Maybe justin is sining in the background and harmonising with himself. The only trouble is that you can't reproduce that sound on stage without a separate vocalist, enter John

  • As far as Justin and John...your right! I just didn't want to be a hog and say I want them both...but only together! And your right! John is the bomb!

  • Have ya gone to "My Lady" you should! Yo'll get a good laugh....by the way your name is beergirl!

  • Just missed T-Bone, he said he'd catch up with us later!

  • DITTO! Which one? Which one? Quick pick one! LOLS!

  • yea, it's too bad too.

  • I freaked out the first time I heard this song! Which was about...(we won't go back that far)!LOLS!

  • You can hear john on the CD, but it's very faint. And this deffinitely is not the same guitar version as the CD because the notes at the end are played totaly differently. Listen to this one after the CD and you'll hear the difference

  • MoodiesFan U ARE STUPID.

  • hi berrygirl, just reminds me of better days and better music in our green and pleasant, must be getting old

  • This is deffinitely live because the guitar is a bit different and John's harmony is much stronger

  • hi all, nice to know some peoplegot taste, what ever happened to my old country,it sometimes feels dreaming is all weve got,

  • I think the guys employed a backing track for their performance of this song....I think the singing and guitar playing is live w/ the synths and backing guitars recorded in such a way as to allow them to have the full effect when playing this live. Blue Jays was (and is) an album famous for it's exquisite harmonies and melodies and you can defintely hear them showing this off while singing this song.

  • This 'ol Vietnam vet got a tear in his eye.doesn'

    t happen too often.

  • Thank You Moodies fan.

  • berrygirl1964, I have a lovesickness for them too. I love the Blue Jays. I wish they would do another CD together. That would be so cool!!! :)

  • Thank You for the post, MoodiesFan!

I absolutely love this song! Has anyone ever questioned the possible lyrical significance? What do you think JH means by the first and second chorus? I'd love to share my interpretation but I'd like to read any thoughts you might have!

  • One of my favorite Moodies songs....and John Lodge, what a gorgeous man.

  • I can't believe I actually FOUND Blue Jays on VINYL!!! For 25 cents! DAMN RIGHT I snagged it. It didn't have this one, but I'm searching...

    Thanks for the gem!

  • This fantastic stuff!!! I guess i need some rehab too. And I'm a guy.

  • I was young in the 70's, too. The Moody Blues signature is...what can I say?

  • Ahhh, the Moodies. What can I say... as a young teen I remember walking home from a party on a warm, beautiful summer night and there was just... a change in the air.

That's when I first heard Tuesday Afternoon.

That Moodies feeling just crept into my soul...

And wasn't it fortunate that years later, theirs was the first music we chose to play while trying out the psychedelics. That made them a permanent part of who I am. This song is just lovely.

  • docevil003, I did the same, and it was wonderful. :)

  • how cute is John in this video? woweeeeeeeee! thanks for posting!

  • I love them both. They are so cute, I'm glag to please a Moody Blues fan. ;-)

  • Oh wow! Thanks for this video, truly amazing. My parents used to play their records when I was a kid, so I've grown up loving them. I actually got to see them live a few nights ago. Hayward's voice hasn't changed a bit! At the end of the show, he said," Thanks for keeping the faith!"

  • I didn't regret it. Take his advice

  • Video needs work. Always thought this was an attempt to branch out and did no really work. good song.

  • Absolutely great!!

  • I was very young at the time, I had just started secondary school, but I remember this so clearly. Thanks for posting.

  • Great song. Beautiful voice. Exquisite guitar playing. Enough said.

  • If you had bought the single as I did and still have then you would know it was the studio version but that still doesn,t take away the fact that they couldn,t have done it as well live because they could and did.

  • A real MB gem...sweet tunage

  • pretty hard to play that song live, very complicated on the album, you would need an orchestra and other session musicians to play other guitars but well done nonetheless.

  • That's Gary Glitter making the intro.

  • i love this guys and this albun

  • I have to agree with you marciobrandao. Buy all of Justin's stuff you won't regret it. :)

  • himoodies,sorry but only today i saw your menssage.now i have justin:songwriter,classic blue and blue jays(all wonderfulls stuff).happy a new year

  • funny you can find a gem like this video but unable to find not one clip from haywards "live in capistrano" / is it really worth the 3o dollar asking price?

  • Absolutely, if only for the powerful moving performance of Broken Dream, an exquisite song.

  • thanks skaid/ i'll look around ebay for it /there's something about this man / since 1968 !!!

  • You can order it direct from Justin's website for $30 too. You won't regret it!

  • Just work of Genius ! Such a profound song, the understanding of blues guitar that's in tune with the lyrics, and they make it so simple, Brilliant...

  • just a grt song. grt post. and although there might be some live singing there's just too many overdubs heard, double speed guitars, orchestration, voiceovers, etc., for the performance to have been done w/o recordings, so i agree with dino47. and, because it seems the thing to do here, i have been a solid fan since NIWS, although i purposefully forget what year that was...and don't want to be reminded!

  • I listened to the Moody Blues Before I was born thanx to my mom. I've become a bigger fan than she is, lol

  • The guitar solo and ending is very different to the recorded version so I would say it's a live performance. It's difficult to tell with Justin Hayward's vocals as he is always pretty near note-perfect live.

This was from a show called 'Supersonic' that used to be on ITV in the UK early on Saturday evenings back in the mid-70s. This is from late 1975. I was very young and and it was the first time I'd seen them. I've been hooked ever since!

  • amazing guitarist / as melodic as his songs / i thinks it's live with recorded backtrack ?

  • I must find out where you got this Video!

  • WOW! I must know where you got all these videos!

I've never seen any of them, and I'm the biggest fan of theirs that I know of, lol.

  • Hello Kevtheguitarist,

I found some of them on some Moody Blues Fan webpages and some I got from a program called emule. the webpage for some of the MB videcs is: http://www.jyla.nl/MoodyBlues/ try this site for some of them. :)

    Joyce - MoodiesFan

  • Cool! I've never seen this video!

  • I love this! I've seen it before but the one I saw was really poor quality! Great to see it so clear! Thanks for adding it!
