  • "Unplugged yearrrrrrrrrrr......and there was rock ....!!!"

  • Ha Ha Billy Zoom was playing this stuff with Gene Vincent when these faux rockabilly dudes like Setzer where listening to Pat Boone in their cradles.

  • They all look the same age but Billy Zoom is like 12 years older than Brian Setzer

  • @xboxman360man i was prepared to disbelieve this, but you're pretty close. actually 11 years and a couple months.

  • That was AWESOME!

  • So many comments talking about how Zoom is acting like a dick! To me he just seems really relaxed, or tired. Lay off Billy, he's a true badass.

  • Rockabilly is GOd.

  • Zoom could be a petulant turd if he wasn't centre of attention... Lighten up dude.

  • Good version----Elvis did a great version of this

  • I just passed out, hell he's sexy!

  • fuck setzers voice in the very begining gave me goosebumps holy crap

  • Billy Zoom, James Intveld, And Brian Setzer!! That would be one helluva show!!

  • wa nen es la leche esta interpretacion

  • De Lujo!!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • Billy and Brian should do a buddy album,,,two masters...

  • James Intveld is great in this video too.

  • billy looks like he's having fun for a second and then immediately hates his life

  • Can you imagine if these 3 were a band.....

  • I love this, Brian Setzer is the best.

  • Jimmy was so-o-o young here!!

  • I like it !

  • It's really not bad... only real problem is the audio distortion.

  • You can see Billy thinks this sucks. He barely even tries.

Brian Setzer is putting out like he's high on speed.

Intveld looks caught in between somewhere.

    Weird gig!

    .

  • Billy isn't really a singer though?

  • Everybody knows Setzer.

And who the fuck were you again??

  • Check em' out playing "Bad Boy" with the blasters. He can sing.

  • Comment removed

  • Billy is bored. Brian is high.

  • How can be somedy bored with this?

  • @RHNarrator if my band member is acting like Billy is here, I'd dump him.

  • what a threesome! ;)

  • LOL @ Billy Z. "What?"

  • INtveld is fucking great

  • It's a mullet mohawk pompadour thing.

  • Billy rules.

  • You know, I'd like to see the whole video now. Wouldn't happen to have it on ya, would ya?

  • oh my god his hair, ahh, adjectives fail me... great jamming though! :)

  • Wow that was great!

Brian made a lot of cool appereances on TV during the 80s and 90s, I wish we could get a DVD with all those guest spots.

  • Thats no mullet. That is a rightious pompadour.

  • @zap54312 Dude, it's both. it's a Pompullet. or maybe a Mulladour.

  • @Salguine Mulladour? that has got to be the funniest thing I have heard in a long time! I am gonna have to start using it!

  • Billy just sat in so those other guys could say they jamed with em. Good call crunchy

  • Billy Zoom looks a bit bored/disgusted by it all. I'll give it to Brian Setzer for coming such a long way from the frosted mullet days to what he's doing now, but Billy Zoom is the patriarch in that video. And for those folks that posted Billy Zoom's a dick, nothing could be farther from the truth. He truly is the one and only "nice guy, punk legend!"

  • RIGHT!

Billy Zoom is also Brian's Amp-Tech btw...

  • he looks like Lars Ulrich... :-)

  • Far Right!!! James Intveld or Art Fein?

  • Wow, Setzer rocks even without his Gretsch! Does anyone know who the guy on the far right is? He looks like Danny Gatton, the only one who would be a match for Brian on guitar

  • The other two are James Intveld and Billy Zoom from X.

  • With all due repsects to Brian as a guitarist, Gatton is a better player

  • Gatton is God.

  • Gatton is God.

  • 3 of the coolest LA Rockers of all time-

  • brian is from New York dude

  • Doesn't he have a home in L.A. now??

  • i don't know?

  • 3 of the coolest rockers of all time regardless!

  • HELL YEAH!

  • He lives in Minneapolis now...

  • ohh jaa sie singen toll

  • Fantastic post! Great song!

Thank you and to AndyBoy63 for sharing!

  • Thanks Andy for sharing.

  • Obviously all 3 are legends, and it seemed OBVIOUS again that Billy Zoom was just sitting back, being polite, while the other two did some playing - 3 guitars cant ALL be soloing at once... Of course 'mdpocoroba' is correct - the opinions of those who've accomplished nothing in this world DO NOT MATTER. Get a life, armchair guitarists HAHA

  • To those who feel qualified to be critics of Billy Zoom, I challenge you to learn how to play guitar to some level approximating his, go out on the road for 30 years, watch helplessly as record companies rip you off all along the way, and then in 2039 (30 years), come back and share that opinion again, based on a speck of wisdom.

  • And I was only counting since the days since X was 2 years along. BZ goes back much further so come back in 40 years...

  • I couldn't stop smiling through the whole vid. Can you imaging if these guys formed a band NOW!! It would truly be Good Rockin!

  • if there was a cool scale between 1 and 10, this video would be an 11.

  • la cara de imbecil del tal billy zoom pobre diablo

  • Haha what a trio :P

  • If Elvis is the King, then Chuck Berry is Master of the Universe.

  • Brian Setzer has the most terrifying mullet I've ever seen.

  • .. yeah. Makes me kinda wanna mullet too. Scary.

  • Get serious, Billy Zoom is just a dick here, the other 2 are having a great time and Billy isn't for whatever's up his ass. Later in the clip he makes Brian feel very uncomfortable.

  • agree, billy zoom is a dick. I have seem them live, all three and Brian and James are nice cats. but billy is a jerk. look at his stupid face at the end.

  • But Billy never had a fruity frosted mullet. I'd rather be cool than nice.

  • remember that during those days that was a cool hair cut. brian is the king of cool. have you ever seen brian in a show. just look at his skills playing the guitar. i would say brian is the king of neo rockabilly, where is billy zoom? straight out I dont like billy zoom. seen him live and it sucked.

  • i say that brian is the king of swing, not neo rockabilly

  • to those who like swing, just proves what a great musician Setzer is. Not only he can play rockabilly but also other genders including swing.

  • You mean genres, right? But yeah, I agree.

  • He seemed like a nice guy to me when I seen him. I think you guys are mistaken, call him a dick after seeing a 2 minute clip? Besides anybody who knows anything about Billy Zoom knows thats his style, he just chills, smiles and plays. Great video by the way!

  • Who are those other two funny looking guys playing with Billy Zoom?

  • elvis was the kng of nothing.. dunno why soo many ppl act like it.. there were way better artist out b4 him just none soo much publicised... Hasil Adkins!!

i like strays.. but what is up with that damn mullet

  • You're an idiot.

  • Billy Zoom always let his guitar playing to the talking. In "X" he just stood there on fire!

  • Without Hillbilly there would have been no rockabilly or Elvis. Cue up some Rose Maddox or Wanda Jackson for some Rockabilly ladies who were signed 2-5 years before Elvis.

  • This is a cool video. Billy Z. looks a tad lost (not rockin' ready like the others). But Elvis will always be the King (of Rock and the Whopper) cause he started it all. Taking black blues/rock n' roll and turning it up a notch. Brian is great, but if he was around in the 50's, probably would have gotten lost in the shuffle. In the 80's he was retro before anybody knew what that was.

  • where you are mistaken- Billy Zoom's guitar was driving the whole thing. Learn more.

  • Billy isnt the kinda guy who has to show off or throw his weight around. Brian's awesome. Love him. But Billy is the best. He has a natural coolness and im sure he wasnt lost he just doesnt get flashy. That whats special about him. He the man.

  • Elvis didnt start anything. He was part of it. he just remade songs that Black rythm & blues artists had already made. Think about it, Roy Orbison Buddy KNox , JOhnny Cash, Gene Vincent,Wanda Jackson THose Guys & Gal started out same with elvis but they stuck to the music.

  • Elvis started it. The kids of the time had no music to call their own, up until 1954, kids had big band and swing music, and they started hearing blues on the radio and LOVED it. Elvis' style of singing those old tunes that everyone knew was something brand new in itself. He started rockabilly.

  • i still disagree Elvis is Just one of the most Famous.

Rockabilly didnt start with elvis. what about Hank Williams in the late 40s that is considered Rockabilly. Elvis just made the sound Presentable for a broader audience.Which is y he is considered the first. But in reality u and I both know Elvis just helped get the sound out there. rockabilly wasnt started just by one person.

  • Hank Williams wasn't rockabilly, he was considered Hillbilly, or country. He def. contributed a lot to rockabilly, the rockabilly sound was a total accident. Elvis was nervous at the time of recording and just started playing thats alright mama, and scotty moore started adding little fills here and there. it all happened by accident, "rockabilly" can be traced to Elvis. he opened the flood gates and made a definable genre

  • As the 80s progressed that thing on brians neck grew... oh well he is still one of my favorite guitarists alive :-)

  • sorry compared to Elvis... Brian setzer is like otherworldly. Brian can actually play his guitar remember? Elvis' hips could never have taken as much skill... sorry. -Brian Setzer for NEW king of rock'n'roll

  • Its what elvis DID for music, He opened the flood gates, Without Elvis, Music would be a much different thing today. Brian Setzer is still a rockabilly God though, he is, In my opinion, one of the best guitar players out there

  • Exactly. Artists who probably would've never been recognized without have seeing Elvis perform, or him have ever performed in Texas at all: Gene Vincent Buddy Holly Carl Perkins Roy Orbison Johnny Cash Jerry Lee Lewis Ricky Nelson Eddie Cochran The list goes on. No Buddy Holly means no Beatles, also no Hollies. Without Elvis, music would be RADICALLY different.
  • whatever losers, this still awesome!!!

  • This is great but they can't sing it like Elvis can, and that's OK.

  • THIS IS SMOKING HOT !

  • James Intveld writes quite the mean song.

  • To me as far my preferred guitarist to listen to by order it's 1. Billy Zoom, 2. Brian Setzer 3.James Intveld. But overall skill in playing I'd have to say in order 1. Brian Setzer 2. Billy Zoom 3. James Intveld.

  • They're all cool but Brian really is the best!

  • no one is to cool to be in the stray cats, the stray cats are to cool for anyone else to be in it(Brian Setzer, lee rocker, slim jim phantom)

  • so fucking kool

  • Billy Zoom IS the man!!!!!

  • The ONLY man arguably cooler than Zoom is Art Fleming, the original host of Jeopardy. In fact, I think Fleming was the original guitarist for The Stray Cats!

  • hehe! omg r u serious? He was the host of Jeopardy? wow.

and whos the dark haired fella in this one?

Notice how Billy just sits there cool and smooth like. He's so awesome.

  • Nah, Art Fleming was never in the Stray Cats. He was too cool for that group!

  • Haha! yeah!

  • u made me laff! thanx! XD

  • The dark haired fellow is James Intveld, one of the best singers around today. Check him out on MySpace.

  • billy zoom rockibile mets ramones guy its cool that hanging brian i all allways wonder if they met

  • Gotta Love it!

  • Check out "Remember Me" by James. It's fucking awesome!

  • Wow, look how young Brian and James are. I miss Ronnie Mack's Barn Dance at the Palamino...

  • Wow!!! Brings back great memories...I was one of the few Rockabilly chicks when Brian and James were playing L.A. clubs. Great music by these boys...great dancin'(jitterbuggin' to these guys was the best)...great times...loved every moment of it...whoever posted...thanks for making me smile tonight...

  • Whats your name? Or did you have a nick name like almost everyone else back then?

  • Billy Zoom is hardly the man in this clip, in fact he appears to be a bit out of his league. As for Brian, well, what can you say about Setzer that hasn't already been said.. he's bad ass! As for James Intveld - I strongly suggest you look him up. He IS the REAL DEAL!!!!

  • Billy is Hardly out of his league. He just makes it look so simple. Watch him live, he`s a statue. Always tending to the crowd and not paying any attention to his instrument. Pretty boring from the camera`s eye. First hand experience tells other.

  • I love seeing Zoom live, because he's really fucking funny sometimes.. I saw X for new years, and I was in the front row screaming his name with some chick I met that night, and right as he looked at us, a drink flew, hit me in the head, and landed on stage, causing him to give us a, "What the fuck was that?" look and start to laugh. He's a hard to understand kind of guy.

  • Ditto. We saw them a few days ago. My wife`s first experience with X. She said he was ceepy, refering to his permanent smile. "he kinda has the look of a pedophile, if they had a look." was her comment. Of course she was joking. "but WOW! He`s awesome."

I can`t tell you just how much of a nice guy he is. He realy pours it on for the fans and makes time for them every performance. Really nice to see that this day and age of music.

  • That is a great story. I had a simmilar experience when I saw the plimsouls, way back! As the band`s life was winding down, they were playing small clubs and bars for maybe 150 people. Girls were still flashing them. A big guy next to me, probably 350+ lifted his shirt and did a jiggle. The bass player and I both had the look of horror as we exchanged shrugs and nods. We were both laughing uncontrolably and he stopped playing for about 5 seconds. I wonder if he remembers that moment? I can`t.

  • who the fuck are these people?

  • That White hair is so freaking cool. I want that hairstyle.

  • Setzer is good but Billy Zoom always was the man!!! Much cooler and didn't try half as hard.

  • I like Billy and they do share the same breath but Brian is on another plane. No disrespect intended. Brian is just that good! Zoom just makes it look easy which is why he takes knocks. But no, Brian is that much better IMO.

  • hahah setzer is like far more superior than zoom lol, wat planet r u living on, hahah listen to wat james says right at the end of the video

  • that's such a dirty mullet brian is sporting there :p

  • Setzer is not wearing a Mullet. Setzer's hairstyle of choice is a Pompadour. The pompadour hairstyle was a fashion trend in the 1950s among male rockabilly artists and actors like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Little Richard, Marlon Brando and James Dean. Rockabilly revival musicians such as The Stray Cats with Brian Setzer, The Pole Cats and the punk scene members of the band The Clash and Social Distortion were known for wearing this style at times.

  • There is no use arguing. That hairstyle is plain a simply a dirty, dirty mullet.

    period.

  • It's a pompamullet, men, a POMPAMULLET!

  • You are right about the hairstyle rocknrev , it caused a stir in some of the little mining towns in South Wales where rockabilly started in the late 40`s . Johhny Cash was sent home from school in Monmouthshire until he got it cut , but he refused and moved to America

  • ps (johhny is the Welsh spelling)

  • wouldn't that be "jwhhnwy"?

  • arf arf

  • arf to you as well. i like your PRS- you play it well.

  • thanks road. I went for a guitar lesson and chapman shoved a camera in my face and made me play something. That is his prs , about 3 grands worth I think. I have an old telecaster and a brand spankin new gretsch chat akins hollow body which is seriously nice ,but I am afraid to play it because it is too shiny.

  • ps you like some good music for a 98 year old

by the way that should be Chet , not Chat atkins , you know Bufantas ,the guy from Abergavenny xx

  • thanks ricky. Chats: Atkins from Carmarthen, Baker from Swansea.

  • Is Brian sporting a "Euro-mullet" hairdo?

  • Billy Zoom is by far a superior guitarist, funny how he down plays it in video....

  • I agree to an extent. Billy is artisicly modest. But come on. Brian is G3 worthy if they would have his style. Showmanship has something to do with it but raw talent tells all. I still think Brian is that much better. That`s speaking high of Brian rather than dissing Billy.

  • very good!

  • Billy and Brian..Way to Cool for School!!! Great vid!

  • Here's a little trivia you may not know...James Intveld went on to do the singing for Johnny Depp in Cry Baby. After hearing Depp sing in Sweeney Todd, I'm not sure why he didn't do his own singing then.

  • Brilliant

  • The best rendition of this song that i heard in years. And i go back to the 50s.I know Billy Z is good, but he seems lost in this song.

  • but he has alot of reasons to be the way he is and the truth is, hes just a shy person who doesnt like attention all that much, he just likes music.

I think hes a cool cat and I love him ^^

And about Brian and Jimmy, they're both frikkin amazing.

  • Its a real shame people dont apreciate how gifted Billy Zoom is...he is an excelent guitarist that not only devotes himself into just one music genre. Playing not only rockabilly but being asociated also with punk (in the band called "X").

Alot of people think hes an asshole, a cocky bastard or whatever because hes not goffin around for the cameras, and he's more serious,

  • setzers so high hear

  • Wow....A POMPAMULLET!!! Those guys ROCK.

  • Setzer is a legend!

  • Brian looks awful pretty, and sounds verocious.

But man, Billy Zoom is too too cool.

  • Zoom's the guitarist of X...

  • Seems not too many viewers are acquainted with Billy Zoom -- probably because he's more closely associated with punk than with rockabilly

  • ... and that's too bad, because his style of playing is very rockabilly -- except with the volume cranked up high (which is where the punk aspect comes in). His usual guitar ferocity isn't apparent here. And since he's not the sort to clown around for the camera, he seems content to sit back and let Setzer steal the show.

For a good example of Billy's style, type "X" and "Devil Doll" in the YouTube search engine.

  • This videos is when 2 types of rockabilly meets, brian setzer stands for modern rockabilly and james intveld stands for newmade oldstyle rockabilly...and who's billy zoom? I think he looks lost on the guitar if he's not doin' the bass part...

  • The word is SETZER , forget the other shit.

  • At this time the video was taken, Setzer was just a garden-variety guitar player and not the king of rockabilly guitar. But he learned a lot and now he is on the way to become a living legend for shure!

  • Great song and guitar playing, but man...that hair...

  • Each of these rebels is a ass-kickin' guitarist!! Billy zoom for his understated ripping riffs- Brian setzer for his command of a gretsch guitar and ability to become eddie cochran and james inveld, a guitarist whos stage appeal is entertainment. james, S.F.F.S!!

  • Jimmy.... the most criminally underrated guitar player & singer ever... he aint nothing but cool....

  • these poor fuckers never thought 17,000 people would ever see this... cool to see Jimmy Intveld, the voice of the movie "Cry Baby", check it out, brilliant

  • watch zooms face at 2:01, out played by the master.

    Setzer is the real deal

    rockabilly king

  • cool performance

  • I love Setzers hair.

  • uhh i know

  • Billy "wannabe" Zoom
