Stop it with the "magazine check," it only seems like a feeble attempt at proving you're a gun guy, no one is gonna be afraid you shoot them through youtube you know, and no one really cares if you shoot anyone there, although a good habit to have I can see what you're trying to do, great review other than that, thanks
@Amirnake I don't do mag checks on camera for me - more so for the thousands of people out there that leave spastic comments telling me how unsafe I am for not doing it.
@lgassen231 Still relatively unscathed and I've carried this thing daily almost non stop since this review. It's a pretty durable finish. Thanks for watching and congrats on the new pistol.
i just found one for 299 at a local pawn. BEAUTIFUL condition. i think all i need to get with it is the smaller mag with the pinky extension. sound like a good deal?
I appreciate your review. I just purchaced the same Ruger SR9c earlier this week with the intent of having a more concealable weapon. It's a LOT easier to conceal than my Glock 17...which I won't part with, but I needed a more compact weapon for warmer weather carry.
Just because you shuck the slide 3-5 times doesn't mean that the gun is clear..Check the breach visually and make sure the ejector didn't fail to eject a round..I have had a few guns that the ejector fail to grab the round in the chamber.
@bmister50 Point taken, sir and I appreciate your concern and the tip -- but I check my guns right before I do a gun video of this sort. I feel doing a safety check on screen is nothing more than a demonstration for the anal folks out there. There is no one else in the room when I do these, and I am pretty thorough about checking right before the camera goes on.
Just bought my first hand gun and I picked this gun after some research and which in large part due to your review and I love it,, its amazing so far!
very good review. Ive never used a ruger before, but im somewhat interested now. Im still a big fan of browning. I used a few of their guns in israel and ever since, ive been a huge fan of theirs. They worked very well, shot accurately, and overall nobody had any problems with them. I think there are youtube videos of us, look up LionOps
@TraviBurke Sure thing and thanks so much for the kind words and for watching. If you've never shot a Ruger, then I highly recommend checking one out -- especially this one :)
Hey, thanks a lot for posting this... My wife wants an automatic and I wasn't sure if a 9mm would be good. I saw one of these at my local shop and I was hoping there would be a comprehensive view. 429.00; I guess I could get it cheaper but I would rather support someone local. I will be getting one after seeing this. You're the man... subbed... Peace and healtn
@godbluffvdgg Thank you very much and I am quite glad that this review helped you out. It's a fine pistol and a favorite with the ladies. I've let many a female shoot it all to zero complaints.
I'm at about 1200 rounds through my SR9c. My thoughts? Between light primer strikes and a recently developed issue where the gun fails to recock the striker and trigger occasionally... I'm not too happy with the gun anymore. Thoroughly cleaned it to the best of my ability. Ruger will be getting a call on Monday. I like to give gun manufacturer's the chance to make things right, so here's Rugers chance with me.
@MikeReiner I'm very sorry to hear you are having issues. I'm at well over 3000+ rounds with this gun and other than the garbage that is WWB ammo, I have never had one single issue with this gun (or any other Ruger I own for that matter). I understand Ruger's customer service is nothing short of outstanding from many folks here on YT. I have a feeling they will take good care of you and get this straightened out quickly. Good luck, sir. Hope it all gets sorted out.
@MikeReiner Well I'm glad to hear the gun is performing much better. I would contact Ruger/send them pics of the scratches. From what I hear, they are willing to do what it takes to make it right. Perhaps send u some free schwag or maybe a spare magazine. Never hurts to ask.
@MrJimbofox Yeah, I'll be getting in touch with them about that soon. I just don't know that I want to wait for the turn around time just to have some cosmetic issues resolved.
I've just recently got this firearm and love it. My wife is 5'5 and has very little experiance with any firearm. She was comfortable with it and put rounds on target consistantly. I did have to catch her before she fired the first round as she had her thumb behind the slide and Im sure this is only because she has little experiance and its a compact.
@Echocdeath Right on. Glad that worked out for you. I find this one is very popular with females as well. I've let many I know shoot it, and they all prefer it over all my other guns.
@fevanwin If you look through my vids, you'll see clips of several different women shooting it without issue. LiveLoveTry (here on youtube) owns one and uses it as her carry firearm. IMO, this is a very female-friendly firearm.
Great review man! i had just picked this gun up and brought it to the range today and i LOVE it, although it is in my fathers name i need to wait for my permit but this will indeed be my first carry gun. i also love your knife reveiews i had bought the BM Mini Griptilian after your reveiew so great job man. keep up the good work !
Great review, very detailed on what came with the gun and good to know the recoil spring was updated with the compact version. This may be my next handgun because of this review! Thanks
ive owned many different type of glocks...and i bought the sr9c about 2 months ago...and wow......ruger hit it big with this guy....IMO blows glock out of the water
@mrgeorge86 I agree that it is a direct competitor to a glock and also agree that Ruger definitely brought their A game on this one. Thanks so much for watching and for the comment.
@kalyn2597 Sorry, but it just didn't make a whole lot of sense. In the review I make it pretty clear that I think the gun is a truly amazing buy. IMO, on every single count this is superior to a G26. Better trigger, better sights, 2 different standard mags, and over 100 less dollars -- and made in the USA to boot.
Do yu know if the Ruger SR9-c .40 is out yet? I rather get he larger caliber actually I would like to get it in .357 sig so I'm wondering if there is even an aftermarket barrel in .357 for the ruger c. If u know anything would apprciate hearing from u.t
@ross512009 I think that would be the "SR40c" and no. Nor is there any official plan to make one as posted by Ruger. There are very few aftermarket accessories for this gun. You can get different sights now, as well as a CT laser grip, however. Thanks for watching.
I've been debating long and hard over what gun to get as my first.. I think a Black SR9c might be the ticket. I've held them multiple times now at the store, and they fit my hand so well.
I was thinking about getting the SR40, but I really want a smaller one, and I don't want to wait for the 40c to come out.
@MikeReiner As the saying goes...."if the shoe fits...". I think you'll be very pleased with this gun. To date it's still my favorite gun to shoot of all the ones I own. Simple, easy, accurate, and reliable; and affordable to boot. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you've found this video helpful.
@MrJimbofox So I got paid today instead of Friday. I now have a black Ruger SR9c.
First time I've ever fired a gun, I was a little shaky but holy hell that was fun. I thought the guys at the store would clean it but all they did was run a bore snake through it, so it hung up a couple times. Having brought it home and stripped it, I can't say I'm surprised; nasty.
What are your thoughts on cleaning this gun? What do you use?
@MikeReiner 1.) Always go home and clean a new firearm. The store owners will never do as good of a job as you will since they aren't the ones firing it -- just selling it. 2.) Everyone is gonna give you a different answer on this, but the regular hoppes cleaning kit found at any gun store will do just fine as that is all I have used on all my guns thus far and have not had issues. You can also get em cheap at walmart. Get yourself a lot of bore patches. Lots of vids on cleaning on YT
@MrJimbofox Yeah I knew point 1, I just got a bit too excited I guess. I brought a friend with and we wanted to shoot off some rounds and had limited time, so that is certainly my fault.
Either way, it's a sweet gun, between you and Hickok45 I think I made a very informed decision. Thanks.
Just got back from the local dealer. Live In IL so I have to wait 72 hours to pick it up " this state sucks!" . He question for you. Is it diffucult to remove the stupid mag saffty? None of my other Polymer guns have them.Maybe you could do a vid on it? I think they are worthless. Oh and by the way, thanks for making me go out and blow $400.00 bucks! Your a great salesmen. Are you sure you dont work for Ruger?
@RugerMini556 I ask myself the same thing (why isn't Ruger paying me for this lol). As far as the mag safety, I see no point in removing it. If my mag is out, I would not have a round chambered, and I'd be in far bigger trouble than having the disconnect get in my way. To me that's simply overcome by practice and proficiency with the firearm. Thanks for watching and glad this vid helped you.
@Omenmyster Nope. Don't need to. The trigger is nearly perfect. Short, low weight and clean break. Check out Hickok45's videos on this gun and you'll see what I mean. Thanks for watching.
Update: took it out the range after a good cleaning and ran 200 rounds of reloads from the gun show through it, avoided WWB due to all the advice... And it shot like a dream! Found the difference between the flush or extended floor plates to be negligable so ill leave it off for better form... Thanks again
@762x51n8o Well alright then! I agree it's a great pistol and the trigger is nothing short of outstanding. Even Mr. Hickok45 admitted that the trigger on it is better than any stock trigger on a Glock he's ever fired and that he'd have to get a competition trigger to match it!! For 100 bucks cheaper than a Glock and made right here in the USA I'd say that's pretty amazing!
@yellowbusguy They actually do not give you a holster with any gun I've ever seen (unless it is a special package deal). I have a holster review of the crossbreed supertuck holster for this gun if you are interested.
@MrJimbofox Thanks for the reply. I just bought my Ruger today and discovered that there is not one included and I've seen your holster review. I've shot 90 rounds through it and had some jams which were due to white box ammo (115 grain) and the gummy factory lube. I've cleaned it and I'll try hotter loads next. The last clip was better though.
@yellowbusguy "magazine", not "clip" :) WWB is garbage. I have had the same issue with my Ruger but I have not had a "jam" just a misfire. Just an FYI, you should always clean your pistols when brand new before shooting them. Enjoy your pistol.
Picked one up after this positive review.... I already own the p345 so the grip felt like home... I do hope it loosens up a bit after some rounds... Great stuff mjf keep it up bud
@knottyspaz Thank you very much. This vid seems to have helped quite a few people and I'm just glad I could help out. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoy your new SR9c. It should loosen up a lil, but I still can not release the slide with the button on mine. Some I have seen can and some can't.
@MegaChubbyboy I am not entirely sure I'll be getting one but never say never. The SR9c and LC9 are two totally different guns and not in the same category at all with the exception of both being 9mm. The LC9 is a double action only gun whereas the SR9 platform is striker fired. I'm sure the LC9 is going to be a fine pistol but one is not a substitute for the other IMO.
I noticed Crimson Trace has a laser grip for this model. Have you considered putting one on it? If so, would you consider doing a range video with it?
@oceanic0809 I have noticed that as well. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure I'd want one. If I did get one, then I'd certainly do a range vid with it. Thanks so much for the kind words.
Thanks for the review! I would slightly disagree with you however on calling it a first timer or entry level handgun. Rugers P95 would be more in that category. Don't get me wrong I'm just saying I think its a much better weapon that what you may be giving credit for. In the striker fire category so far it seems to be holding its own against its competitors namely: Glock 17, Springfield XD9 and S&W M&P 9mm. I just got the SR9c for my girlfriend. Now I'm saving up to get myself the full size SR9
Great video. Your review style is clean, moves forward very well and you are really easy to listen to. My sr9c is on its way from Bud's and this video makes me want it to hurry the hell up and get here that much quicker. It's my first pistol and I believe I made the right choice as you confirmed early on in the vid.
I just bought this last night and put about 150 rounds through it at the range this morning. The sr9c I mean. It was a dream to shoot. I ran 150 rounds and it didnt have a problem at all. Thanks for ur video also.
just got my sr9c ,went to the range put 200 rounds of winchester fmj through it , no problems what so ever, this gun is a dream to shoot, trigger is the best, best 400 bucks i ever spent ,anyone looking for a compact 9mm look no further this is the one .great video on this gun
The SR9c is my carry pistol. I love almost everything about it. The only thing I would change is I would prefer the slide stop lever to also be a slide release too like the Glock. I traded a Glock 23 for it because it fit my hand better and was more compact for carry. It shoots great at combat distances and I haven't had any malfunctions. This is an awesome pistol for the money. Ruger did an awesome job designing this one. I hope they've got plans for an SR40c.
@vetryder I'm sure they do and I agree that it would be nice if you could release the slide by pressing the button down. I've actually seen some people are able to do it with theirs. Seems to be hit and miss. I think it goes beyond being an "awesome pistol for the money". I think it's just an awesome pistol, period. Thanks for the comment and I hope you enjoyed the vid.
@MrJimbofox yeah, its funny. right after I saw your vid and posted I saw another where the guy used the lever as a slide release. I thought, "what the?!...." Later I read a post that said that while they can be made to slide release, Ruger purposely designed it to require "slingshotting" because it causes accelerated wear of parts or something. But other pistols do it so I dont know. And yeah its a great pistol period. What I meant is you get equal quality or better for less than the XD,M&P etc.
@MrJimbofox with my used Glock trade in I paid about $75 plus $10 for the instant background check for my SR9c. This was from the same gunshop that I found an almost new condition camo Mossberg 12 ga with 20 or 22 in bbl and hi viz sights for under $200. I figured if I add a +3 mag tube extension and AR type pistol grip stock it would make a good low buck defensive shotgun project and I would have an xtra defense shotgun to go with my Mossberg 930. I love that gunshop. LoL
One of the best videos on this Ruger on the net! been thinking of getting the Ruger SR9c, because of your video it will be bought soon. What a nice looking gun, small, real sweet looking too. Now that you have had it for some time do you still like it? Thanks my friend. -Tim
@TheTacticalDefender Just shot it last night and it still performs like it should -- with "Ruger Reliability". Thanks so much for the kind words and I hope you are able to snag one of these great little pistols. I love mine. To date it's still my absolute favorite carry gun. 4 of my good friends here on YT have bought one and all of them love theirs.
@MrJimbofox how did you learn how to shoot? like im about to turn 21 and i just started thinking about shooting and my parents dont own any so what a good way to learn. ive been doing lots of research online and found first shot program and wanted to know if there any good tips?
@flamebroil The best thing I can recommend is just to go and take an intro to pistol course so you can learn the basics of safety, marksmanship, and pistol mechanics. GL to you, sir. I hope you find a good fit.
One thing that you could also mention is that SR9 holsters are also compatible with the SR9C, i just bought a Fobus holster for mine and it works great but a review of other holsters would be great!
@matttauke I thought I did mention it in this video but perhaps not. I did mention it in my review of the crossbreed supertuck holster that it works for both guns. I've got a review of another holster coming soon. Thanks so much for watching.
just got a sr9c, i noticed that the sriker stays in the forward position after i've dry fired the gun. i tried to load the gun and it wouldn't load since the striker was forward. if i re rack the gun the striker returns rearward. does that happen with your gun? and if so does it ever effect loading for you? any reply or video would be very helpful. thanks
@mattvanhugenstein Yes it does and it's normal. That's more or less the way strikers work. It's not gonna go back because there is no round in the chamber blowing the slide back and taking the striker with it. Also, I wouldn't recommend dry firing the gun w/o the magazine or a snap cap in it. It'll ruin your striker pin.
I have the SW9VE. I've been shopping for a compact 9mm. I've checked out the Glock 26, and the XD Springfield 9mm compact. Seeing your review I'm going to look into the Ruger 9mm Compact.
@MrJimbofox I would but one BIG problem... No guns on college campus :(
Once I move out and get my own place there will be nothing stopping the arrival of an SR9C though. I once found a poster online with the universal "guns banned here" symbol on it. The subtext was "attention all criminals, students, faculty and staff have all been disarmed for your convience"... Hows that for truth?
@MusicMan53100 If that's the case, then every town in this country is already under martial law. Is there anywhere in this country where police don't carry firearms?
@MrJimbofox Nope. But here's the way I see it. The only differences between myself and a cop are the clothes we wear, the type of I.D we carry around and the fact that his gun gets handed to him every morning...
@MusicMan53100 You forgot the fact that they are paid to do it and those of us regular people who carry are not. They are also looking out for everyone whereas most of us are simply looking out for ourselves/our loved ones.
@MrJimbofox True that. If the gov't is really so worried abt "gun-control" then here's what I prapose we do: Each town/city/county or whatever has it's own "gun club". Those who attend atleast 7/10 meetings and meets regularly to practice gun safety and to goto the shooting range, should get a free gun and more than enough ammo with a kevlar vest or something. And coupons for more ammo!
@MusicMan53100 !!! THAT SUCKS MAN!!! Dont know what state youre in, but I know my freshman year there were no firearms (CHL holders) allowed on Texas campus'. I was at J.C. and it was before the Virginia Tech. Massacre, I remember the day I heard and the next day at school..... I had an occupied mind to say the least!! Thankfully Texas passed a bill allowing CHL holders to carry on campus so I can actually have a shot at defending myself and others at school, hope you will too as u should!!!
I have never been a Ruger Pistol fan. I am a Ruger Revolver fan. I own several Ruger revolvers. I have felt that Ruger was always behind the curve when it came to pistols. The SR9C makes me reevaluate. This will be my first Ruger pistol.
Bought one today. I almost bought another Glock since I love my Glocks but decided to give this one a try. I've not shot it yet and can't wait to get to the range. What kind of holster do you use with it?
MJF....Thanks to you I spent more money on guns....a new Ruger SR9c! Love this gun and want to thank you for the review. One of the reasons I bought the SR9c...I find this gun shoots and points better than my Glock. Thanks again and keep up the videos!
@DyciewskiW1911 Thanks so much, dude and I'm glad you found this review helpful. I still carry mine daily and love it to death. Just went shooting with it on Sunday and it has still performed flawlessly.
I'll get another brand on occasion for the coolness or novelty factor (i.e. The Judge, heh) but for the most part, anything I want or need I can find from Ruger and never have to question reliability.
@RugerMan73 Absolutely and totally agreed with one small exception -- they don't make 1911's :( Other than that, you are totally right. They more or less make a firearm for virtually any type of person, task, or utility. There are plenty of other great brands out there, but very few that have the kind of vast scope that Ruger does. Glocks are great, but Glock makes polymer pistols, that's it. Thanks so much for watching and I hope this review helped you in some way.
@sapper480 Thanks for the kind words! Check out my review on the crossbreed supertuck holster and you'll get your answer in complete there. I even show what it looks like when it's on my person!!!
@kevechkin Thanks for the update, sir. If you wouldn't mind either posting here or better yet, doing a vid to show us this, that would be sincerely appreciated by us all, I think.
RUger is just great reliable guns. I have a ruger p345 that I use on duty and i love it. Im going next week to get the sr9 compact for conceal carry and later I might go ahead and get the regular sr9 for the hell of it . lol
@jholleyjr2 i have a 21 year old p85 9mm that sinc eive owned i have put at least athousand rounds through and theres no tellin how many it had through it before i got it no malfunctions

@MrJimbofox I got the gun back last Wednesday.
Took it to the range, it's running great, the new trigger components have smoothed out and all is well. I find I shoot 124 grain much better than 147.
What is not spectacular however are the new scratches and nick on the trigger guard..

Better trigger, better sights, 2 different standard mags, and over 100 less dollars -- and made in the USA to boot.
MrJimbofox 7 months ago
would you trade that for glock 26
kalyn2597 7 months ago
@kalyn2597 Why would I do that?

Do yu know if the Ruger SR9-c .40 is out yet? I rather get he larger caliber actually I would like to get it in .357 sig so I'm wondering if there is even an aftermarket barrel in .357 for the ruger c. If u know anything would apprciate hearing from u.t
ross512009 9 months ago in playlist Reference
@ross512009 I think that would be the "SR40c" and no. Nor is there any official plan to make one as posted by Ruger. There are very few aftermarket accessories for this gun. You can get different sights now, as well as a CT laser grip, however. Thanks for watching.
MrJimbofox 9 months ago
I've been debating long and hard over what gun to get as my first.. I think a Black SR9c might be the ticket. I've held them multiple times now at the store, and they fit my hand so well.
I was thinking about getting the SR40, but I really want a smaller one, and I don't want to wait for the 40c to come out.
MikeReiner 9 months ago
@MikeReiner As the saying goes...."if the shoe fits...". I think you'll be very pleased with this gun. To date it's still my favorite gun to shoot of all the ones I own. Simple, easy, accurate, and reliable; and affordable to boot. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you've found this video helpful.
MrJimbofox 9 months ago
@MrJimbofox So I got paid today instead of Friday. I now have a black Ruger SR9c.
First time I've ever fired a gun, I was a little shaky but holy hell that was fun. I thought the guys at the store would clean it but all they did was run a bore snake through it, so it hung up a couple times. Having brought it home and stripped it, I can't say I'm surprised; nasty.
What are your thoughts on cleaning this gun? What do you use?
MikeReiner 9 months ago
@MikeReiner 1.) Always go home and clean a new firearm. The store owners will never do as good of a job as you will since they aren't the ones firing it -- just selling it. 2.) Everyone is gonna give you a different answer on this, but the regular hoppes cleaning kit found at any gun store will do just fine as that is all I have used on all my guns thus far and have not had issues. You can also get em cheap at walmart. Get yourself a lot of bore patches. Lots of vids on cleaning on YT
MrJimbofox 9 months ago
@MrJimbofox Yeah I knew point 1, I just got a bit too excited I guess. I brought a friend with and we wanted to shoot off some rounds and had limited time, so that is certainly my fault.
Either way, it's a sweet gun, between you and Hickok45 I think I made a very informed decision. Thanks.

@MikeReiner Good stuff and thank you very much. I'm very humbled to be mentioned in the same sentence as hickok45.

RugerMini556 9 months ago
@RugerMini556 I ask myself the same thing (why isn't Ruger paying me for this lol). As far as the mag safety, I see no point in removing it. If my mag is out, I would not have a round chambered, and I'd be in far bigger trouble than having the disconnect get in my way. To me that's simply overcome by practice and proficiency with the firearm. Thanks for watching and glad this vid helped you.

MrJimbofox 11 months ago
Thought I had 1 FTF.... But upon inspection I noticed I hadnt rammed the mag far enough in lol.... user error not the pistol... Flawless
knottyspaz 1 year ago
Update: took it out the range after a good cleaning and ran 200 rounds of reloads from the gun show through it, avoided WWB due to all the advice... And it shot like a dream! Found the difference between the flush or extended floor plates to be negligable so ill leave it off for better form... Thanks again

@knottyspaz Awesome, glad to hear it. Thanks for the update.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
Great review, good info. I want one.
as per our discussion, I like the trigger on it, I can tell it's better on this than the LC9. Also, the slide release without having to drop the mag.
762x51n8o 1 year ago
@762x51n8o Well alright then! I agree it's a great pistol and the trigger is nothing short of outstanding. Even Mr. Hickok45 admitted that the trigger on it is better than any stock trigger on a Glock he's ever fired and that he'd have to get a competition trigger to match it!! For 100 bucks cheaper than a Glock and made right here in the USA I'd say that's pretty amazing!
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
Have you been using the holster that came with it , or have you bought one?
yellowbusguy 1 year ago
@yellowbusguy They actually do not give you a holster with any gun I've ever seen (unless it is a special package deal). I have a holster review of the crossbreed supertuck holster for this gun if you are interested.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
@MrJimbofox Thanks for the reply. I just bought my Ruger today and discovered that there is not one included and I've seen your holster review. I've shot 90 rounds through it and had some jams which were due to white box ammo (115 grain) and the gummy factory lube. I've cleaned it and I'll try hotter loads next. The last clip was better though.
yellowbusguy 1 year ago
@yellowbusguy "magazine", not "clip" :) WWB is garbage. I have had the same issue with my Ruger but I have not had a "jam" just a misfire. Just an FYI, you should always clean your pistols when brand new before shooting them. Enjoy your pistol.

Can you do a review on the Ruger LC9 when it comes out? I was about to get the SR9c when I read about the LC9.
MegaChubbyboy 1 year ago
@MegaChubbyboy I am not entirely sure I'll be getting one but never say never. The SR9c and LC9 are two totally different guns and not in the same category at all with the exception of both being 9mm. The LC9 is a double action only gun whereas the SR9 platform is striker fired. I'm sure the LC9 is going to be a fine pistol but one is not a substitute for the other IMO.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
I noticed Crimson Trace has a laser grip for this model. Have you considered putting one on it? If so, would you consider doing a range video with it?
Thanks for a great video!
oceanic0809 1 year ago
@oceanic0809 I have noticed that as well. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure I'd want one. If I did get one, then I'd certainly do a range vid with it. Thanks so much for the kind words.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
Thanks for the review! I would slightly disagree with you however on calling it a first timer or entry level handgun. Rugers P95 would be more in that category. Don't get me wrong I'm just saying I think its a much better weapon that what you may be giving credit for. In the striker fire category so far it seems to be holding its own against its competitors namely: Glock 17, Springfield XD9 and S&W M&P 9mm. I just got the SR9c for my girlfriend. Now I'm saving up to get myself the full size SR9
merdoc81 1 year ago
@merdoc81 Thanks so much and with regard to "entry level" I was mainly referring to the price and the ease of use/breakdown.

I hope they've got plans for an SR40c.
vetryder 1 year ago
@vetryder I'm sure they do and I agree that it would be nice if you could release the slide by pressing the button down. I've actually seen some people are able to do it with theirs. Seems to be hit and miss. I think it goes beyond being an "awesome pistol for the money". I think it's just an awesome pistol, period. Thanks for the comment and I hope you enjoyed the vid.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
@MrJimbofox yeah, its funny. right after I saw your vid and posted I saw another where the guy used the lever as a slide release. I thought, "what the?!...." Later I read a post that said that while they can be made to slide release, Ruger purposely designed it to require "slingshotting" because it causes accelerated wear of parts or something. But other pistols do it so I dont know. And yeah its a great pistol period. What I meant is you get equal quality or better for less than the XD,M&P etc.
vetryder 1 year ago
@vetryder Agreed. For under 400 bucks, there really isn't anything that can compete with this gun, period.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
@MrJimbofox with my used Glock trade in I paid about $75 plus $10 for the instant background check for my SR9c. This was from the same gunshop that I found an almost new condition camo Mossberg 12 ga with 20 or 22 in bbl and hi viz sights for under $200. I figured if I add a +3 mag tube extension and AR type pistol grip stock it would make a good low buck defensive shotgun project and I would have an xtra defense shotgun to go with my Mossberg 930. I love that gunshop. LoL

MrJimbofox 1 year ago
just got a sr9c, i noticed that the sriker stays in the forward position after i've dry fired the gun. i tried to load the gun and it wouldn't load since the striker was forward. if i re rack the gun the striker returns rearward. does that happen with your gun? and if so does it ever effect loading for you? any reply or video would be very helpful. thanks
mattvanhugenstein 1 year ago
@mattvanhugenstein Yes it does and it's normal. That's more or less the way strikers work. It's not gonna go back because there is no round in the chamber blowing the slide back and taking the striker with it. Also, I wouldn't recommend dry firing the gun w/o the magazine or a snap cap in it. It'll ruin your striker pin.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
I have the SW9VE. I've been shopping for a compact 9mm. I've checked out the Glock 26, and the XD Springfield 9mm compact. Seeing your review I'm going to look into the Ruger 9mm Compact.

Once I move out and get my own place there will be nothing stopping the arrival of an SR9C though. I once found a poster online with the universal "guns banned here" symbol on it. The subtext was "attention all criminals, students, faculty and staff have all been disarmed for your convience"... Hows that for truth?
MusicMan53100 1 year ago
@MusicMan53100 That's the truth, bro. Unless they are posting armed guards everywhere, that's a ridiculous idea.

@MusicMan53100 If that's the case, then every town in this country is already under martial law. Is there anywhere in this country where police don't carry firearms?
MrJimbofox 1 year ago
@MrJimbofox Nope. But here's the way I see it. The only differences between myself and a cop are the clothes we wear, the type of I.D we carry around and the fact that his gun gets handed to him every morning...
MusicMan53100 1 year ago
@MusicMan53100 You forgot the fact that they are paid to do it and those of us regular people who carry are not. They are also looking out for everyone whereas most of us are simply looking out for ourselves/our loved ones.
MrJimbofox 1 year ago

I'll get another brand on occasion for the coolness or novelty factor (i.e. The Judge, heh) but for the most part, anything I want or need I can find from Ruger and never have to question reliability.
RugerMan73 1 year ago
@RugerMan73 Absolutely and totally agreed with one small exception -- they don't make 1911's :( Other than that, you are totally right. They more or less make a firearm for virtually any type of person, task, or utility. There are plenty of other great brands out there, but very few that have the kind of vast scope that Ruger does. Glocks are great, but Glock makes polymer pistols, that's it. Thanks so much for watching and I hope this review helped you in some way.
