lol alot of these comments kinda suck no1s perfect we all got problems its how we deal with our problems that make us better im short 4ft 9 and skinny but i realise its life, try not 2 focus on what you think are negatives, coz 2 others it might just be what they like about you most
I'm with you on this- I'm not quite 5'2 . Most clothes don't fit me right and I live in a very rural area so finding petite clothes is near inpossible. Tops aren't a big problem though anything long sleeved I have to roll up, pants never fit right and even though I'm nowhere near as skinny as you I still have that baggy bottom problem. I love skirts and dresses but I rarely get to where any- they just don't fit.
@Anameleth13 believe me it's out there. I buy some of my riding stuff out of the kids area, so what it still looks the same, jeans can be shortened and many stores now sell short jeans or have a petite section
@6linux8 In the fashion sense, petite means short - 5'4" and below. Just check out any petite section at a department store (and usually, these departments range up to size 14, sometimes even 16. There are also petite plus departments).
@6linux8 Not sure about that - however petites have been getting 'taller'. I have got some vintage dress patterns from the '60s and earlier that describe themselves as being "for petites about 5' to 5' 1 inches''. Nowadays, as alumnagirl says, petites are defined as 5'4' and below!
I'm 4'10". Clothing is a problem. Chairs are a problem. I can't sit in a chair without my feet dangling the ENTIRE TIME. Sometimes I can get my toes on the floor, and sometimes not. I frequently can't reach the back-rest on a chair unless I slump backward. Sitting in a chair is fatiguing, not restful. I stand on a stepstool to work at the kitchen counter, to reach things in my cupboards, and even to reach things in the bottom of the washing machine. There are no 'petite' houses/chairs.
@6linux8 In the fashion industry petite has nothing to do with weight. It's height. Under 5'4. Look it up. Type in petite size on Wikipedia and find out for yourself.
I know tailors cannot always completely understand you.learn to sew. Take some sewing lessons, make yourself a dress form, and start constructing haute couture. Being petite is a privilige, enjoy it :)
Oh god stop complaining. The original video was a great video about being comfortable with yourself. This is just someone complaining about how clothing doesn't fit her right. I have plenty of friends your size and they find clothing every where. H&M, Urban Outfitters, Guess, Saks, Bloomingdales. I know its hard being short, its also hard being fat, skinny, tall, muscular, blonde, brunette, black, white, hispanic, indian and just about everything else, everything has a down side, so get over it.
Petite does not mean short and fat. You can not be petite and fat. please stop trying to redefine the word petite to make fat girls feel good. look up the definition of petite.
@JustBenInLA Not true. The commercial fashion definition of petite is 5'4" and below, PERIOD. Many clothing lines and stores have petite-plus divisions (check out Addition Elle or Nordstrom). Fashion designer Jessica Biffi, who is over size 12 considers herself petite.
I'm not petite, but one of my closest friends is. She's 4' 11" (I don't know her weight but I'm sure it's less that 118 lbs), and she has to do most of her shopping in the children's section. How do you find a "womanly"-looking outfit there? You have a totally valid point that should be addressed!
I'm 4 feet 11 and I sew and tailor most of my clothes. I taught myself pattern drafting and draping, and can design clothes for most occasions now. I learnt this over many years, and I also learned that no petite woman is alike. We all have our own fitting issues.
@AArtyBird Im 4 feet 10. Had to teach myself how to sew so i can alter my own clothes. Tailors can be expensive and sometimes dont understand your concerns. Now everything custom fits me although im still learning new techniques everyday. This time im trying to learn how to reduce the crotch lenght of pants. Any ideas?
@nidzrulz4eva Hi there! I assume you mean alterating the crotch length on ready-to-wear pants? If they are a simple design with a darted waistband, I would unpick the waistband, shorten the rise at the waist, and resew the darts and waistband. Otherwise, I would find a vintage Junior Petite sewing pattern for pants or jeans, and sew a really nice pair of trousers that fit without any alterations!
And I'm 6 feet and can't buy regular jeans, dresses, or one-pieces. At least there are stores that have whole petite sections (Ann Taylor, Banana Republic...). I have NEVER seen a tall section.
We all just have to work with what we've got, so quit whining.
Oh my! Your clothes dont' fit right? That's just terrible!. Try being passed up for a job because the cmpany thinks you're lazy, try being stood up on a date because the guy thought you were a pig, try being told you're too ugly to have sex with, then tell me how hard your life is as a petite. You think it's so bad, trade places with any fat person and then tell me what you think. You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this!
@jetmechgurl Try not being hired/promoted because they feel that you're "not mature enough." Try people suggesting that you shop in the kids' section (yeah, to grown women!) And if tall, skinny models are criticized about having "child-like bodies," then what about women who're short and a size 00? Isn't that even more "child-like"? What about people "not seeing you" because you're "so tiny"? Yeah, you don't exist either.
@jetmechgurl You obviously don't know what it's like to be short. I'm 4'11 and I get talked down to a lot. It's not just people making jokes about my height. People condescend to me, speak to me like I'm a toddler or a puppy - even going as far as using a high pitched voice while talking about how "adorable" I am. When you're a grown woman and someone speaks to you like that, it's very insulting.
@jetmechgurl Don't forget the study from a few years ago suggesting that short people are less intelligent. No, I don't have to put up with as much discrimination as overweight people do, but it would be nice to have people treat me like an adult. Really, you have no idea how frustrating it is to have people younger than you be taken seriously because they actually look their age while you're ignored because you look like a child.
No. Try "I'm short and treat me with some respect." Short women are completely ignored in our society. I mean, how many famous women are open about being short?
I've never heard of any discrimination based on people being petite. I can understand if little people (midgets) do activism on the subject, but petite people generally have no problems socially. Please don't pretend that you some how have it rough, yes you might get some comments based on your height, but you will never face discrimination in the workplace or be figuratively looked down on because of it. Don't compare it to overweight people who are constantly discriminated against everywhere.
Really? So you don't think suggesting that one shops at the kids' section (tween section, not jrs) isn't discrimination? What about not being taken seriously by people who think you're "just the intern" because you don't "look like you can be a manager"? Short people - guys and women - make less money and are promoted at a slower pace than their taller counterparts (and clothes do have something to do with it - someone who looks like he/she is playing dress-up in his/her parents' clothes.)
Okay, I see your point now. I can understand how annoying it all must be to be thought of as mentally less because of your short stature. I still don't get why you compare it to the problems overweight people face. You may get silly comments on your height but, you know, at least you aren't called fat, a-sexual, and thought of as a shit stain. You are also legally protected to not be discriminated against in the workplace because of your height. Fat people aren't.
as for height cant change that but its obvious nobody thinks of themselves as perfect so why make it worse 4 each other? i love being petite at 4ft 9 but i no every one has issues finding clothes that fit coz we all have different tastes (clingy/loose) and body size i hope you understand my point that it all comes down to how we treat each other is what counts so we can get on and be happy with ourselves !!!!!!.......PEACE.......!!!!!
wow everybody needs to relax and just be thankfull your not running round naked. why do people have to be soooooo negative against each other ??? bigger people cant just snap there fingers and lose weight just as alot of small people cant put it on how do you all know its not in there genes???? and not all just about food and exercise????
I totally agree. I hate shopping for clothes in the kid's section. They don't have any sizes under 4 at Macy's, and to find them, you have to look really hard. And all the fatties are like "this is an evil plot to make women want to be skinnier!" No, there are real women who benefit from petite clothes. I'm 5'0.8" and 100lbs.
Your totally right girl! The problem with the fashion industry is that we buy off the rack. Back in the day people had their clothes made for them via a seamstress so everything was tailor made to an individuals body as apposed to todays standard of trying to make ourselves fit properly into clothes that are made from a model that is supposed to represent all women or men.
I have a huge problem finding clothes. I am just barely 5'1 and 129lbs. I wear a D-cup and have wide hips, but a very small waist and frame - a typical hourglass. I cannot wear many clothing items because of this. My frame is very small especially across my back, but my chest is very large. If I buy large shirts (which fit my bust) I swim in them, but if I buy small shirts (which fit my frame) I look practically pornographic. When will they make petite clothing that acknowledges I exist?
I totally feel your pain. I'm 5'1, 115lbs, C-cup and it's hard enough for me to find clothes. I'm turning 18 this year and I do not want to shop from the kid's section anymore!
I'm 4'10" and 103 pounds. And yes, I'm done growing. I'm a 0 or 2 in pants, and in dresses, size 2. I'm in my late teens and still asked if I want a kids menu. Despite mewling's comment, I am judged as a person. Usually, people don't take me seriously , and often interrupt me mid-sentence. I wouldn't talk about things you haven't experienced, because it does hurt. I'm very well educated and I have alot to say, so its sad when nobody listens. Being short is not the worst thing, but it can hurt.
I completely understand how frustrating clothes shopping can be :/ Although I'm not petite (5'7") I am a size 0, and shopping for pants can be a night mare, because whenever I do find pants in my size, the inseam is either short, or regular, which are too short for my long legs. :/ and I would always think that the short girls had it easy...
you really opened my eyes to petite troubles. i used to work at a store that didn't carry my tall sizes under a 10... i'm a sixish. we had all the petite sizes in everything and i always thought "carry the talls and the petites can hem them!" i never realized the rise and everything was different
I have all these problems too. It's so annoying I have to try on all the things in the store to find one thing that fits nice. I am 5'2 (33,24,35) and 120lbs. I'm not built like a tall white girl so my butt never fits into anything but the boob or waist area will be too small. Plus I'm too poor to get my clothes made or tailored.
You're probably in between sizes because your waist is a 0 or 2 and your hips are a 4ish...I'm not sure if more "compressed" sizes will make any difference...I do encourage you to make videos, write blogs and letters to companies urging them to take a look at varying sizes and shapes though.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
its because fat people are insecure and boost their self esteem buy making carppy videos on youtube being all "yea im fat and dont care"when in reality they would kill to be slim and healthy
While I do not deny that very short, thin people may have size issues with clothes, you are not judged AS A HUMAN BEING for being petite. I'm short. I've been very thin and I've been fat.
How clothes fit is one thing, being told you're a waste of air is entirely another.
When it's almost everyday, yeah it does. I'm 23 and 1.32 m. I am a proportional dwarf, which means I basically look like a little kid, because I am small, but don't have the "defining" characteristics of the more well-known forms of dwarfism. I have had to work very hard to be listened to and respected, and still get talked down to at least once a week. Maybe I'm not told I'm a 'waste of air', but there more ways than one to be disrespected and belittled.
hi jandoon i had a friend in school that was the same i myself am 1.50m / 4 ft 9 at work i once got asked if i was scared of the boogy man and another time (same place) i got asked what my age was coz they were putting bets on it so i no what you mean about the respect thing thats the only down fall about being short in my case gotta keep your chin up when stuff like that happens be proud of who you are !!!!
Yeah, I hear ya! I mostly love my size, it is just sometimes irritating. :P It is hilarious to see people's faces though, when I shatter their assumptions.
This is an incredibly ignorant position. You think it doesn't impact on your life or career when you are constantly assumed to be 16? People have outright accused me of lying about my age at work. I'm talked down to constantly and treated like I lack experience and authority. How am I supposed to advance my career this way? When I was fat, I looked older and got treated with much more respect. Now I am thin, look younger, and no one listens to my opinion.
im short but fat...buts thats not my fault.....i have to take medication...its puts on weight...so id love to be you.....and since you have such a good job and stuff...get someone to make you your clothes !!
At least you CAN get some things hemmed and tailored.. try creating extra fabric to fix clothes. Tall is much harder to deal with and combine tall and plus size together.. the only places that combination exists in more than a few items are the big and tall men's stores.
Petites have clothing issues. No one said you didn't. Every single person has a clothing problem. I don't think that was Joy's point of "A Fat Rant". She was just trying to help explain to people who are fat, it's okay. Society tends to admire the skinny, and those who aren't usually feel they aren't good enough. Fat and thin are both adjectives, but one is an insult and the other is a compliement. I believe Joy was trying to express that fat shouldn't be an insult, but remain as a description.
Thin's a compliment? Really? Not when you're a size 0...even when you're short. People equate size 0 (or anything up to a size 4, really) with being "unwomanly" and sometimes, even "child-like." Being called "child-like" when you're in your 20s is insulting.
I am not going to say that shorter women aren't taken seriously or don't have issues finding clothing but shorter men also have those issues and are not even preferred by women..,even women that are petite.
large or tiny!!! JEEZ LAY OFF!!! pple need to get it straight not all of us can pay for platic surgery like u bitches im not saying normal sized pple got plastic surgery im just saying stuck up pple like that need to stop looking down thier nose at us
Looking young is a good thing when you get older (30+). It means men will find you more attractive than those "hot" girls who will have leathery skin by age 40. Trust me...you have a bright future ahead.
Apologies if there has been another reply already. Anyway, it isn't always about being hot. It's also about your career. If you look young, no one is going to take you seriously. First impressions are important. One may be a 30 year old manager, but to clients, this person might look more like a kid fresh out of school. Even if he/she tries to dress like a 30 year old manager. Some might find it difficult to take her seriously.
ah ha..this is where you have to do some NLP training and carry yourself differently. Your state leads their state. I recommend you check out Charles Faulkner - Worlds Within A Word or Anthony Robbins - Self Mastery Program. Both are great will allow you to overcome this minor obstacle.
So for the love of god, if you are a overweight person who is unhappy about your weight and like to lash out on skinny people, stop! We are not the enemy, and most of us got enough problems on our own to reflect about YOUR weight! I don't want to be part of the pityparty! Your weight is NOT my responsibility! Lay off!!
One thing; most skinny people I know would not even DREAM of commenting on somebody weight. It's not our buisness. Most skinnygirls have a flat ass or a flat chest, and what do we get to hear: "I'ts soooo unsexy to look like a boy" If we do gain weight, it's almost always get stuck on our tummys, we don't get curves. I't can really tear you down during your teenage years. And even if we do like our weight, we are never, NEVER, allowed to say so. Because that's discriminating....
i think every woman has clothing issues. even model type bodies, i mean who really is 5"10 and 110 lbs? very few people. when i was 14 i was really disgustingly thin. i would cry because i could never find anything that would fit me. i would get called anorexic and be made fun of. i was never comfortable. i gained weight as i got older and this wasnt a problem for me anymore. it just sucks when you are different from the majority thin or not. we just need to deal with it and love ourselves
YOU made this into a shopping issue, BBW get looked at when were shopping for clothes, eating out,fat jokes. This is FAR beyond clothing issue. If your seem in your hip of a dress is the only issue you have with your size, How dare you even complain. Walk a mile in my shoes and see if you complain after that mile, until you know what size discrimanination is, PLEASE refraim from crying about your petite size shopping mishap.
It isn't only a clothing issue. It is a size issue. When you're small and your clothes don't fit properly, you are overlooked for jobs and promotions. To the HR department, you just don't look like a grown-up. At the liquor store, people ask if you're of age. Sometimes, sales people don't even think your ID's real!
You don't think fat woman are overlooked for jobs. I bet that a thin woman would get the job quicker that a fat woman if they were appling for the same job. We don't get carded we just get laughed at by people, I have seen people throw food at fat woman and tell them to walk on the other side of the rd. because they couldn't fit on that side of there rd. I bet people don't tell you to walk on the other side of the rd due to your size, now do they Don't act like u have it bad when realy you don't
Well at least you don't get pointed at and make movies about you and shake there bellies and say "ho ho ho" or make funny songs about you when you walk. I'd rather take not getting noticed any day than having someone calling me names or pointing me out and making fat jokes.
You do get called names when you're tiny, and people do insult you. They also, because they assume you're young, insult your parents, and question their parenting and their morals, that they're allowing their "child" out alone at 10pm...all under the guise of being concerned of course. Are the insults and issues different? You bet. Do I know what it's like for you? Nope. But don't assume one type of difference is better/more acceptable. Either way, it hurts when people unjustly question you.
Yeah so imagine the plight of petite fat girls like me. They don't make clothes in my size at all, not even on the internet. I don't own anything that actually fits.
But maybe you missed the point of fat rants. Fat people aren't just discriminated against in terms of clothes. Fat people have their kids taken away. Fat people die while EMTs laugh rather than take them to the hospital. And on top of all of that, we have the clothing issues.
@lautour ha ha yes!!! does the girl that posted this REALLY believe that her clothing issues are anything in comparison to the 'plight' you described of overweight people on a daily basis... And the ones that do take it upon themselves to get healthier still deal with the emotional and physical burdens of getting there in the first place... But it's not nearly as tough as not being able to find tiny trendy clothes at Saks and Bloomingdales. Must be an awfully hard life she leads.
I'd also like to add another rant here... shoes for petites! I wear 4.5 womens and I can't find any stores that sell my size. I wear 2.5 childrens shoes but they are almost always too narrow for me. When I find a pair of shoes that fit I will wear them for YEARS until they totally wear out. O.K., end of rant. Now I need to go count my blessings that the good Lord has given me. :)
I also understand about people thinking you're young all the time. I'm 38 and it wasn't until about four years ago that people started thinking I looked like an adult ( I think the grey hair I'm getting helps LOL).
I TOTALLY understand! I'm 4'11" and have a TERRIBLE time finding clothes that fit. Ann Taylor is the ONLY store I can find clothes that fit and even that is limited. I have a woman's shape so children's clothes don't fit. Also a lot of petite clothes are made for around 5'2" so they are too long, too low cut, etc. The smaller petite sizes like 0 have the right length for me but no way could I fit into that. For some reason petite clothes designers think the shorter you are the thinner you are!
I'm 5'7 myself and I've been the fat girl, yet I feel your pain. It isn't fair. There should be clothing to fit girls of all sizes, not just the super tall or the super skinny. It's ridiculous. I've had to lose close to 15 kg's to find anything nice to fit me, and even when I get into the healthy weight range, I still won't fit into the designers ideal. Who fits anyway? Like 1% of the population. It isn't fair at all. Best of luck with your cause, I hope you succeed!
Another reason why they keep refusing models under 5'6" is because of videos & arguments like this. The people in power some(agencies) love to watch people beg and plead over the matter. This is exactly what fuels their ability to capitalize on the "our models are special so you should love them" campaign. Your video is great I just wanted to point that out to you. ;)
Maaaaaybe the fashion designers are still afraid of the petites with the rocking bodies taking away(distracting) from their material? In the old days they used very average faced models so that the model didn't take away from the material/clothing/etc. After all more men LOVE petite women over fashion model height 5'9" and up. That in itself distracts from the clothing doesn't it?
alumnagirl, I know you from the WNTW chat board. You sound just like me. I can't believe some of the comments to your video here. As if because you're slim you have no right to complain. What ignorance!
What gets me is how many petites put up with the lack of clothing choices and don't complain about it, thus making it worse. Hey, you and I should become advocates for petites - Raise consciousness about it in the media and with other petites. You are doing us a service here, thanks.
I'm not petite. I still can't believe that nobody has an ounce of patience for someone else's problem that they volunteered to listen to by watching the video. If you were so small finding clothes was a problem, you would be dissatisfied, too. What the hell makes you feel like you can watch an earnest person, trying to make their voice heard, and then mock them, slam them, just because their problem isn't your problem? Would you do that in person? Is your problem more important? Just leave.
We're NOT invisible, baby. That's all in your head. We do not have problems. Be thankful. Thank God. Become a designer for petite women if you want a change. The only thing you're right about is that our "problems" are PETITE.
Pleeeeaaasssseee....gime a fuckin break. Your skinny you idiot, socially you have nothing to worry about...oh and you are complaining about what fits? are you serious? Like Buddafly said...go ahead and read the comments on fat rant and see how that differs from you. Put on a fat suit, go to high school, and see how much better you fucking think you will feel. And I am not even talking about that fat...lets see, try a size 12 and see how people react towards you.
Well, because humans are so controllable, it's easy to get them to think they need to be 5'7" and 60 pounds to fit in clothes so you spend your MONEY on their drugs, medical bills, diet pills, drugs, relationship books, Physc. doctor visits...
Oh, and you get people like me telling you that you're missing the point. And kinda shallow, my best mate, she's 4'10" dresses how she wants and earns the respect of her superiors and gets promoted... maybe there's another reason you haven't been promoted and you're using this as an excuse.
Oh, and if you're still unsure of what fat people have to go through, look at the comments of under the fat rants, and other fat acceptance videos, there you get people saying fat women are: gross, disgusting, taking up space, hurting the poor because we eat too much etc. Now, let's look at your comments and we see people saying, way to go, i have a hard time finding the right hem line too! or you're beautiful, or gee get some self esteem. Not much of a comparison is there?
Dude, you're missing the point. Being fat isn't a matter of having a different waist line. We don't have our "fat population" represented in the media, or the fashion industry. Designers who do design for plus sizes are ashamed of talking to the presses because they don't want to be associated with plus sizes, see Simon Doonan, because they could LOSE funding. If you want to protest something, try that plus size clothes cost 3x as much as "normal" clothes and have pics of kitties on them.
I'm petite and fat--the issues with me finding clothes are horrendous. But you know what? So does every woman I've ever met. I don't really have pity for a petite woman having trouble finding clothes when fat people are openly mocked and treated as morally deficient, you name it. It's kind of insulting to respond to a video of actual issues with you complaining about a hem line.
My mother died of lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life. She had to constantly deal with people treating her issues as "not that important". She had to fight for a home loan, a job and for clothing that fit her 5" 1' frame AND her 18" waist. She was a proud Creek Indian that dealt with having her land burnt to the ground, TWICE. I was there both times, the white men did NOTHING. It's not JUST a matter of /fashion/. My mom is dead because doctors refused to listen to the "lil lady".
I think Joy Nash was talking about the broad discrimination against fat women, not just difficulty finding clothes. I feel your pain though, I'm 5'0" :-)
Seriously? Fat discrimination is the only kind of discrimination that is still perfectly acceptable and expected by society. Nobody is trying to make laws against petite people that wouldn't allow them to eat in restaurants if their BMI is over a certain level! Your rant is ridiculous in comparison. Petite sizes exist in most stores, I know, I buy them... Plus sizes do not!
Sure, petite sizes exist in most stores, but have you seen what they look like? Have you compared the choice between non-petite and petite? Petite clothes in MOST STORES (i.e. not Ann Taylor or Banana Republic) cater to a more mature woman. And I mean REALLY MATURE. As in I've retired and I just need a suit for a charity luncheon retired. Petites don't want to be limited to two or three stores, medsociologist09! Can't petites speak up about their issues?
Like I said, we all have our fashion issues. Just find a good tailor and get your pants rehemmed. It costs about $20. I feel for ya on the torso and sleeve sizes though.
Often, the pants would still be baggy if you hemmed them, because the rise on "regular" length pants is longer than on petites. It isn't just the hem.
1. Plus sizes are ugly too. Ever seen a mu mu? 2. Joy's rant was about REAL discrimination. You're just missing the point. Not having pretty clothes is NOT the same as facing systematic discrimination in the workplace, in health care, in education, in the media, in practically ever aspect of life. Weight discrimination isn't just common, it's accepted. So, seriously, get over your vanity and open your eyes to *real* issues of inequality.
What about being treated like a 15 year old when you're in your late 20s? You know, when you're in your late 20s you really don't want to be told that you're cute. What about being mistaken for the intern when you're the manager?
I have a friend who is petite (and fat) and I sympathize with her because I am TALL. I understand how much it sucks to find pants that fit. The advantage that petites have though, is that they can easily take pants up. It's harder to let the hems out if you're tall. I guess we all have our fashion issues!!
I totally agree. I'm 5'1 and I have a nightmare shopping. Fortunatly I'm also fairly slender (Uk size 4-6) so I can at least buy children's cothes if all else fails. Although it can be tough trying to look mature when you're wearing jeans/tops with kiddie designs on them. So yeah, it is an issue. I'm glad someone finally brought it up :)
You know what? I hate these body size videos. I mean really, just except how you are and don't give a shit about what other people say. I'm 5'1"(I'm proud of that one inch) at 185 lbs. I'm short and fat, I buy plus sized clothes and cut off the bottoms.
what about petites??? what about the guys and people you get on a regaler bases hitting on you or being nice to you? i bet you dont even notice them.
a fat person wont get half the people you get being nice to them and hardly anyone that will hit on them like you would so stop trying to act like you got it so bad.
Not when you look like a slob because the clothes don't fit you properly or when people think you're still in high school (don't get that anymore, but I did up to five years ago, when I was 23/24 years old. As much as it's great to look young, you don't want to when you're in your 20s...you also don't want to be mistaken as the INTERN at a company when you're a manager.)
You said lots of celebrities are petite - EXACTLY. Being petite is glamorized, being fat is not. Anyone is welcome to complain about anything, but how many petite girls out there would rather be fat? NONE. I'm average and so I can complain that the media only portrays thin and fat girls, so what about me? But that's absurd. Everyone can be discriminated against for anything, but some issues are bigger than others and to act like they're all the same waters down the more serious problems.
But petite celebs don't acknowledge their height problems. In addition, their clothes are often custom-made, so that they'd fit properly. This isn't the case with non-celeb petites, unless we are excellent seamstresses!
There are SOOOO many more pressing issues in the world other than "Oh, I can't find the perfect clothes." Go to Africa for a few months, some people don't even HAVE clothes.
thanks for this cool video! my names Chloe, kinda feelin bored if any1 wants to join me on cam or wana chat i will be signed on at __ FriendlyFlirts(.COM) __ my user ID there is Chloe_qgixrr chat soon xx its FR33 to j0in! mwah
Oh. My. God. What a colossal waste of time. It is repulsive and shocking to watch the entire US population point fingers at each other and continually victimize themselves. It is SICK that this woman has so little going on in her life that she can devote enough time to whining about being short that she can actually call herself a "petite activist." This person embodies the root of what is wrong with the united states.
There are SOOOO many more pressing issues in the world other than "Oh, I can't find the perfect clothes." Go to Africa for a few months, some people don't even HAVE clothes.
Dang grl! is this really that big of an issue??? I mean seriously i'm 5'1 and weigh 90 pounds and i've never had trouble finding clothes that fit. i have 3 closets of clothes. I luv my size. my sis is the opposite tho she's 5'9 and she can't ever find anything long enough to fit her. luv urself! Eva Longoria, Will Smiths wife, Tilla Tequelia, Nichole Richy, Mary kate and Ashley, they're all short and dead sexy!
I think everyone has trouble finding clothing that fits perfectly. Clothing is made a very very certain way... I'm 5'7", average weight, and it's so hard to find jeans that fit.
LOL I just end up ruining the bottom of my pants. When I get hip hugers they are usually too low and when I get regular cut the waist come up to my boobs (im not being sarcastic lol) but no matter what the bottom hem ends up being trashed while they get dragged under my shoes. I just do away with dresses completely because they are way too long for my hight.
Yes you're right, we need more petite clothes. At 19 years old, wearing age 11-12 children's clothing is degrading. We petites don't want sympahty for being smaller, we simply just want clothes that fit us. Simple as. We are petite through no fault of our own unlike plus sized people in general (sorry to be blunt but it's true)so why are we the only size that seems to be discriminated against in the fashion industry...and we have the most feminine figure of all too. It just frustrates me!
OMG.. this sounds like, "My life is so tragic because it's hard to find clothes that fit right." I don't see anything wrong with anyone, small or large, however, I think almost anyone agree that fat people get more grief from society about their size than a "petite" person would know how to handle.
OMG this is retarded LMAO. You can make your boobs bigger you can easily find clothes your size. So get 1 size bigger. You are unbelievably LUCKY. You need to grow up. You think you have problems...
I understand where you're coming from, since my best friend is a size 1 and 5'3", and of course, has issues finding clothes, I'd also like to say that as a tall girl 5'9" I have similar problems of finding clothes that fit. It's not size (there are plenty of 10-12's out there) but length. Everytime I go in a store I have to search racks of clothes for Tall. so tall people have problems with proportion too
Sorry about your situation. I used to be rather short myself so I know where you're coming from. As a girl, I'm now 5'5+ and I wouldn't go back for anything. I'm hoping to reach 5'11, now that would be awesome. Btw, only 3 and a half percent of girls out there are within an inch of 5'10, so it's not like everyone's tall.
Just so you know not that it makes much difference but men LOVE petite girls. Petites get all lot of admiration, trust me. Youre just fucked when it comes to buying clothes thats all! I feel for you but I feel more for the "fat" people out there who have to put up with a lot rubbish than just clothes.
now i am not saying being your size is bad i'm saying YOU'RE FUCKING LUCKY! you should seriosly stop complaining. <3 and this was not me trying to be mean this is me posting what i think...that's why there is a place to comment and obviosly you want to hear what people have to say about your video because you didn't disable the commenting Btw i think you're pretty
You need to not be so ignorant. ou pretty much sound like this "oh my god i'm so skinny and short i think people should stop paying attention to fat people and pay attetion to me!!" i don't think i have EVER in my 16 years heard a skinny/petite girl say i wish i was fat. however i HAVE heard from bigger girls and even girls my saize say i wish i was skinny....they end up going on a crash diet where many girls don't recover and why? because they wish they were like you...
Actually, there are quite a few women who are 5'4" and under: at least 60%! (Remember that the fashion world prefers to focus on supermodels which makes it seem like tall is average.) Now, obviously that's not as much as 70% but it's still over 50%. So why the huge discrepancy in availability? And btw, while there is some attempt to make clothes for fat people trendy, there are virtually none for petites.
Oh, and for all of the idiots who keep saying "Eat more", why don't y'all stop stuffing your faces and supersizing your food? No one ever said you had to finish a whole jumbo size bag of chips by yourself. It's not true that there are not enough "fat" sizes. Anytime I shop, I see far more 12+s than 2s, more XLs than XSs. Or do you people need tents?! Maybe the fat is eating away at your brain cells.
Name one petite MAJOR store that isn't affiliated with a regular store(that's right, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor and even Petite Sophisticate don't count) AND sells clothes that aren't for 70 year old ladies.
Your video quality sucks

I'm with you on this- I'm not quite 5'2 . Most clothes don't fit me right and I live in a very rural area so finding petite clothes is near inpossible. Tops aren't a big problem though anything long sleeved I have to roll up, pants never fit right and even though I'm nowhere near as skinny as you I still have that baggy bottom problem. I love skirts and dresses but I rarely get to where any- they just don't fit.

6linux8 1 year ago
@6linux8 In the fashion sense, petite means short - 5'4" and below. Just check out any petite section at a department store (and usually, these departments range up to size 14, sometimes even 16. There are also petite plus departments).
alumnagirl 1 year ago 2
@6linux8 Not sure about that - however petites have been getting 'taller'. I have got some vintage dress patterns from the '60s and earlier that describe themselves as being "for petites about 5' to 5' 1 inches''. Nowadays, as alumnagirl says, petites are defined as 5'4' and below!
AArtyBird 1 year ago
There are no 'petite' houses/chairs.
chotii2 1 year ago
@6linux8 In the fashion industry petite has nothing to do with weight. It's height. Under 5'4. Look it up. Type in petite size on Wikipedia and find out for yourself.
Anameleth13 3 months ago
I know tailors cannot always completely understand you.learn to sew. Take some sewing lessons, make yourself a dress form, and start constructing haute couture. Being petite is a privilige, enjoy it :)
nidzrulz4eva 1 year ago
Oh god stop complaining. The original video was a great video about being comfortable with yourself. This is just someone complaining about how clothing doesn't fit her right. I have plenty of friends your size and they find clothing every where. H&M, Urban Outfitters, Guess, Saks, Bloomingdales. I know its hard being short, its also hard being fat, skinny, tall, muscular, blonde, brunette, black, white, hispanic, indian and just about everything else, everything has a down side, so get over it.
quepaso96 1 year ago
Petite does not mean short and fat. You can not be petite and fat. please stop trying to redefine the word petite to make fat girls feel good. look up the definition of petite.
JustBenInLA 1 year ago
@JustBenInLA Not true. The commercial fashion definition of petite is 5'4" and below, PERIOD. Many clothing lines and stores have petite-plus divisions (check out Addition Elle or Nordstrom). Fashion designer Jessica Biffi, who is over size 12 considers herself petite.
alumnagirl 1 year ago
@JustBenInLA Not true. I'm short and thin but petite means under 5'4. You look it up. Petite size has nothing to do with weight.
Anameleth13 3 months ago
I'm not petite, but one of my closest friends is. She's 4' 11" (I don't know her weight but I'm sure it's less that 118 lbs), and she has to do most of her shopping in the children's section. How do you find a "womanly"-looking outfit there? You have a totally valid point that should be addressed!
snagglescat 1 year ago
I'm 4 feet 11 and I sew and tailor most of my clothes. I taught myself pattern drafting and draping, and can design clothes for most occasions now. I learnt this over many years, and I also learned that no petite woman is alike. We all have our own fitting issues.
AArtyBird 1 year ago
@AArtyBird Im 4 feet 10. Had to teach myself how to sew so i can alter my own clothes. Tailors can be expensive and sometimes dont understand your concerns. Now everything custom fits me although im still learning new techniques everyday. This time im trying to learn how to reduce the crotch lenght of pants. Any ideas?
nidzrulz4eva 1 year ago
@nidzrulz4eva Hi there! I assume you mean alterating the crotch length on ready-to-wear pants? If they are a simple design with a darted waistband, I would unpick the waistband, shorten the rise at the waist, and resew the darts and waistband. Otherwise, I would find a vintage Junior Petite sewing pattern for pants or jeans, and sew a really nice pair of trousers that fit without any alterations!

You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this!
jetmechgurl 1 year ago 2
@jetmechgurl Try not being hired/promoted because they feel that you're "not mature enough." Try people suggesting that you shop in the kids' section (yeah, to grown women!) And if tall, skinny models are criticized about having "child-like bodies," then what about women who're short and a size 00? Isn't that even more "child-like"? What about people "not seeing you" because you're "so tiny"? Yeah, you don't exist either.
prosperemagazine 1 year ago
@jetmechgurl You obviously don't know what it's like to be short. I'm 4'11 and I get talked down to a lot. It's not just people making jokes about my height. People condescend to me, speak to me like I'm a toddler or a puppy - even going as far as using a high pitched voice while talking about how "adorable" I am. When you're a grown woman and someone speaks to you like that, it's very insulting.
MetisLeigh 1 year ago
@jetmechgurl Don't forget the study from a few years ago suggesting that short people are less intelligent. No, I don't have to put up with as much discrimination as overweight people do, but it would be nice to have people treat me like an adult. Really, you have no idea how frustrating it is to have people younger than you be taken seriously because they actually look their age while you're ignored because you look like a child.

No. Try "I'm short and treat me with some respect." Short women are completely ignored in our society. I mean, how many famous women are open about being short?
prosperemagazine 2 years ago
I've never heard of any discrimination based on people being petite. I can understand if little people (midgets) do activism on the subject, but petite people generally have no problems socially. Please don't pretend that you some how have it rough, yes you might get some comments based on your height, but you will never face discrimination in the workplace or be figuratively looked down on because of it. Don't compare it to overweight people who are constantly discriminated against everywhere.
justanotherperson1 2 years ago
Really? So you don't think suggesting that one shops at the kids' section (tween section, not jrs) isn't discrimination? What about not being taken seriously by people who think you're "just the intern" because you don't "look like you can be a manager"? Short people - guys and women - make less money and are promoted at a slower pace than their taller counterparts (and clothes do have something to do with it - someone who looks like he/she is playing dress-up in his/her parents' clothes.)
prosperemagazine 2 years ago
Okay, I see your point now. I can understand how annoying it all must be to be thought of as mentally less because of your short stature. I still don't get why you compare it to the problems overweight people face. You may get silly comments on your height but, you know, at least you aren't called fat, a-sexual, and thought of as a shit stain. You are also legally protected to not be discriminated against in the workplace because of your height. Fat people aren't.
justanotherperson1 2 years ago
as for height cant change that but its obvious nobody thinks of themselves as perfect so why make it worse 4 each other? i love being petite at 4ft 9 but i no every one has issues finding clothes that fit coz we all have different tastes (clingy/loose) and body size i hope you understand my point that it all comes down to how we treat each other is what counts so we can get on and be happy with ourselves !!!!!!.......PEACE.......!!!!!

wow everybody needs to relax and just be thankfull your not running round naked. why do people have to be soooooo negative against each other ??? bigger people cant just snap there fingers and lose weight just as alot of small people cant put it on how do you all know its not in there genes???? and not all just about food and exercise????
meakaamz 2 years ago
I totally agree. I hate shopping for clothes in the kid's section. They don't have any sizes under 4 at Macy's, and to find them, you have to look really hard. And all the fatties are like "this is an evil plot to make women want to be skinnier!" No, there are real women who benefit from petite clothes. I'm 5'0.8" and 100lbs.
ferretyluv 2 years ago
Your totally right girl! The problem with the fashion industry is that we buy off the rack. Back in the day people had their clothes made for them via a seamstress so everything was tailor made to an individuals body as apposed to todays standard of trying to make ourselves fit properly into clothes that are made from a model that is supposed to represent all women or men.
MimiLaRou89 2 years ago
I have a huge problem finding clothes. I am just barely 5'1 and 129lbs. I wear a D-cup and have wide hips, but a very small waist and frame - a typical hourglass. I cannot wear many clothing items because of this. My frame is very small especially across my back, but my chest is very large. If I buy large shirts (which fit my bust) I swim in them, but if I buy small shirts (which fit my frame) I look practically pornographic. When will they make petite clothing that acknowledges I exist?

I'm 4'10" and 103 pounds. And yes, I'm done growing. I'm a 0 or 2 in pants, and in dresses, size 2. I'm in my late teens and still asked if I want a kids menu. Despite mewling's comment, I am judged as a person. Usually, people don't take me seriously , and often interrupt me mid-sentence. I wouldn't talk about things you haven't experienced, because it does hurt. I'm very well educated and I have alot to say, so its sad when nobody listens. Being short is not the worst thing, but it can hurt.
theatrechick270 2 years ago
I completely understand how frustrating clothes shopping can be :/ Although I'm not petite (5'7") I am a size 0, and shopping for pants can be a night mare, because whenever I do find pants in my size, the inseam is either short, or regular, which are too short for my long legs. :/ and I would always think that the short girls had it easy...

you really opened my eyes to petite troubles. i used to work at a store that didn't carry my tall sizes under a 10... i'm a sixish. we had all the petite sizes in everything and i always thought "carry the talls and the petites can hem them!" i never realized the rise and everything was different
i feel educated. lol. good job.
oneisallineed 2 years ago
I have all these problems too. It's so annoying I have to try on all the things in the store to find one thing that fits nice. I am 5'2 (33,24,35) and 120lbs. I'm not built like a tall white girl so my butt never fits into anything but the boob or waist area will be too small. Plus I'm too poor to get my clothes made or tailored.
AsianFestival 2 years ago
You're probably in between sizes because your waist is a 0 or 2 and your hips are a 4ish...I'm not sure if more "compressed" sizes will make any difference...I do encourage you to make videos, write blogs and letters to companies urging them to take a look at varying sizes and shapes though.

We also are judged as human beings.

I believe Joy was trying to express that fat shouldn't be an insult, but remain as a description.
mschwilm0815 2 years ago
Thin's a compliment? Really? Not when you're a size 0...even when you're short. People equate size 0 (or anything up to a size 4, really) with being "unwomanly" and sometimes, even "child-like." Being called "child-like" when you're in your 20s is insulting.

Looking young is a good thing when you get older (30+). It means men will find you more attractive than those "hot" girls who will have leathery skin by age 40. Trust me...you have a bright future ahead.
EthanCaineDotCom 3 years ago
Apologies if there has been another reply already. Anyway, it isn't always about being hot. It's also about your career. If you look young, no one is going to take you seriously. First impressions are important. One may be a 30 year old manager, but to clients, this person might look more like a kid fresh out of school. Even if he/she tries to dress like a 30 year old manager. Some might find it difficult to take her seriously.

So for the love of god, if you are a overweight person who is unhappy about your weight and like to lash out on skinny people, stop! Peachyminipie 3 years ago

This is FAR beyond clothing issue. slj27597 3 years ago
It isn't only a clothing issue. It is a size issue. When you're small and your clothes don't fit properly, you are overlooked for jobs and promotions. To the HR department, you just don't look like a grown-up. At the liquor store, people ask if you're of age. Sometimes, sales people don't even think your ID's real!
alumnagirl 3 years ago
You don't think fat woman are overlooked for jobs. I bet that a thin woman would get the job quicker that a fat woman if they were appling for the same job. We don't get carded we just get laughed at by people, I have seen people throw food at fat woman and tell them to walk on the other side of the rd. because they couldn't fit on that side of there rd. I bet people don't tell you to walk on the other side of the rd due to your size, now do they Don't act like u have it bad when realy you don't
slj27597 3 years ago 6
You're right that people don't tell petite/short women to walk to the other side of the road. They just don't notice that they're there.
alumnagirl 3 years ago
Well at least you don't get pointed at and make movies about you and shake there bellies and say "ho ho ho" or make funny songs about you when you walk. I'd rather take not getting noticed any day than having someone calling me names or pointing me out and making fat jokes.
slj27597 3 years ago
You do get called names when you're tiny, and people do insult you. They also, because they assume you're young, insult your parents, and question their parenting and their morals, that they're allowing their "child" out alone at 10pm...all under the guise of being concerned of course. Are the insults and issues different? You bet. Do I know what it's like for you? Nope. But don't assume one type of difference is better/more acceptable. Either way, it hurts when people unjustly question you.

But maybe you missed the point of fat rants. Fat people aren't just discriminated against in terms of clothes. Fat people have their kids taken away. Fat people die while EMTs laugh rather than take them to the hospital. And on top of all of that, we have the clothing issues.
But I know the pain of not shopping at Saks.
lautour 3 years ago 12
@lautour ha ha yes!!! does the girl that posted this REALLY believe that her clothing issues are anything in comparison to the 'plight' you described of overweight people on a daily basis... And the ones that do take it upon themselves to get healthier still deal with the emotional and physical burdens of getting there in the first place... But it's not nearly as tough as not being able to find tiny trendy clothes at Saks and Bloomingdales. Must be an awfully hard life she leads.
rachelm10100 1 year ago
I'd also like to add another rant here... shoes for petites! I wear 4.5 womens and I can't find any stores that sell my size. I wear 2.5 childrens shoes but they are almost always too narrow for me. When I find a pair of shoes that fit I will wear them for YEARS until they totally wear out. O.K., end of rant. Now I need to go count my blessings that the good Lord has given me. :)
eatlotsofmeat 3 years ago
I also understand about people thinking you're young all the time. I'm 38 and it wasn't until about four years ago that people started thinking I looked like an adult ( I think the grey hair I'm getting helps LOL).
eatlotsofmeat 3 years ago
I TOTALLY understand! I'm 4'11" and have a TERRIBLE time finding clothes that fit. Ann Taylor is the ONLY store I can find clothes that fit and even that is limited. I have a woman's shape so children's clothes don't fit. Also a lot of petite clothes are made for around 5'2" so they are too long, too low cut, etc. The smaller petite sizes like 0 have the right length for me but no way could I fit into that. For some reason petite clothes designers think the shorter you are the thinner you are!
eatlotsofmeat 3 years ago
omg LMAO. Speaking as a thin person, you seriously are laaaaaaaaaaaaaame.
diediediedie0o5 3 years ago
I'm 5'7 myself and I've been the fat girl, yet I feel your pain. It isn't fair. There should be clothing to fit girls of all sizes, not just the super tall or the super skinny. It's ridiculous. I've had to lose close to 15 kg's to find anything nice to fit me, and even when I get into the healthy weight range, I still won't fit into the designers ideal. Who fits anyway? Like 1% of the population. It isn't fair at all. Best of luck with your cause, I hope you succeed!
:-)
chickydoda 3 years ago 2
Another reason why they keep refusing models under 5'6" is because of videos & arguments like this. The people in power some(agencies) love to watch people beg and plead over the matter. This is exactly what fuels their ability to capitalize on the "our models are special so you should love them" campaign. Your video is great I just wanted to point that out to you. ;)
raenterprises 3 years ago
Maaaaaybe the fashion designers are still afraid of the petites with the rocking bodies taking away(distracting) from their material? In the old days they used very average faced models so that the model didn't take away from the material/clothing/etc. After all more men LOVE petite women over fashion model height 5'9" and up. That in itself distracts from the clothing doesn't it?
raenterprises 3 years ago
alumnagirl, I know you from the WNTW chat board.

Just leave.
anonymous10567 3 years ago

They've divided and conquered us.
They have us right where they want us.
WeisseEdelweiss 3 years ago
Oh, and you get people like me telling you that you're missing the point. And kinda shallow, my best mate, she's 4'10" dresses how she wants and earns the respect of her superiors and gets promoted... maybe there's another reason you haven't been promoted and you're using this as an excuse.
Buddafly16 3 years ago
Oh, and if you're still unsure of what fat people have to go through, look at the comments of under the fat rants, and other fat acceptance videos, there you get people saying fat women are: gross, disgusting, taking up space, hurting the poor because we eat too much etc. Now, let's look at your comments and we see people saying, way to go, i have a hard time finding the right hem line too! or you're beautiful, or gee get some self esteem. Not much of a comparison is there?
Buddafly16 3 years ago
Dude, you're missing the point. Being fat isn't a matter of having a different waist line. We don't have our "fat population" represented in the media, or the fashion industry. Designers who do design for plus sizes are ashamed of talking to the presses because they don't want to be associated with plus sizes, see Simon Doonan, because they could LOSE funding. If you want to protest something, try that plus size clothes cost 3x as much as "normal" clothes and have pics of kitties on them.
Buddafly16 3 years ago
I'm petite and fat--the issues with me finding clothes are horrendous. But you know what? So does every woman I've ever met. I don't really have pity for a petite woman having trouble finding clothes when fat people are openly mocked and treated as morally deficient, you name it. It's kind of insulting to respond to a video of actual issues with you complaining about a hem line.
fraueva9 3 years ago 3

Rumplestiltskin16 3 years ago
Plus sizes do not!
medsociologist09 3 years ago
Sure, petite sizes exist in most stores, but have you seen what they look like? Have you compared the choice between non-petite and petite? Petite clothes in MOST STORES (i.e. not Ann Taylor or Banana Republic) cater to a more mature woman. And I mean REALLY MATURE. As in I've retired and I just need a suit for a charity luncheon retired. Petites don't want to be limited to two or three stores, medsociologist09! Can't petites speak up about their issues?
alumnagirl 3 years ago
Like I said, we all have our fashion issues. Just find a good tailor and get your pants rehemmed. It costs about $20. I feel for ya on the torso and sleeve sizes though.
Abbasmurf 3 years ago
Often, the pants would still be baggy if you hemmed them, because the rise on "regular" length pants is longer than on petites. It isn't just the hem.
alumnagirl 3 years ago
So, seriously, get over your vanity and open your eyes to *real* issues of inequality.
medsociologist09 3 years ago
What about being treated like a 15 year old when you're in your late 20s? You know, when you're in your late 20s you really don't want to be told that you're cute. What about being mistaken for the intern when you're the manager?
alumnagirl 3 years ago
Being petite is not descriminated against. All you have to do is hem and take in. Try finding nice clothes and being big.
nixiefee 3 years ago
I have a friend who is petite (and fat) and I sympathize with her because I am TALL. I understand how much it sucks to find pants that fit. The advantage that petites have though, is that they can easily take pants up. It's harder to let the hems out if you're tall. I guess we all have our fashion issues!!
Abbasmurf 3 years ago
I totally agree. I'm 5'1 and I have a nightmare shopping. Fortunatly I'm also fairly slender (Uk size 4-6) so I can at least buy children's cothes if all else fails. Although it can be tough trying to look mature when you're wearing jeans/tops with kiddie designs on them. So yeah, it is an issue. I'm glad someone finally brought it up :)
muddysnowangel 3 years ago 2
There are shopping issues with both sides, but there isn't as much discrimination against the smaller woman.
babylonprincess 3 years ago
You know what? I hate these body size videos. I mean really, just except how you are and don't give a shit about what other people say. I'm 5'1"(I'm proud of that one inch) at 185 lbs. I'm short and fat, I buy plus sized clothes and cut off the bottoms.
get over it.

How can people fight about petite vs. fat, when a person can be both?
Abbasmurf 3 years ago
what about petites??? what about the guys and people you get on a regaler bases hitting on you or being nice to you? i bet you dont even notice them.
a fat person wont get half the people you get being nice to them and hardly anyone that will hit on them like you would so stop trying to act like you got it so bad.
foxprogt 3 years ago
Not when you look like a slob because the clothes don't fit you properly or when people think you're still in high school (don't get that anymore, but I did up to five years ago, when I was 23/24 years old. As much as it's great to look young, you don't want to when you're in your 20s...you also don't want to be mistaken as the INTERN at a company when you're a manager.)
alumnagirl 3 years ago
You said lots of celebrities are petite - EXACTLY. Being petite is glamorized, being fat is not. Anyone is welcome to complain about anything, but how many petite girls out there would rather be fat? NONE. I'm average and so I can complain that the media only portrays thin and fat girls, so what about me? But that's absurd. Everyone can be discriminated against for anything, but some issues are bigger than others and to act like they're all the same waters down the more serious problems.
ChildofRain 3 years ago
But petite celebs don't acknowledge their height problems. In addition, their clothes are often custom-made, so that they'd fit properly. This isn't the case with non-celeb petites, unless we are excellent seamstresses!
alumnagirl 3 years ago
Thank you for advocating something other than size acceptance for fat people. Thin and petite deserve to be heard as well. You're also beautiful.

Oh. My.

LOL I just end up ruining the bottom of my pants. When I get hip hugers they are usually too low and when I get regular cut the waist come up to my boobs (im not being sarcastic lol) but no matter what the bottom hem ends up being trashed while they get dragged under my shoes. I just do away with dresses completely because they are way too long for my hight.
laositaboricua 4 years ago
Yes you're right, we need more petite clothes. At 19 years old, wearing age 11-12 children's clothing is degrading. We petites don't want sympahty for being smaller, we simply just want clothes that fit us. Simple as. We are petite through no fault of our own unlike plus sized people in general (sorry to be blunt but it's true)so why are we the only size that seems to be discriminated against in the fashion industry...and we have the most feminine figure of all too. It just frustrates me!

OMG.. this sounds like, "My life is so tragic because it's hard to find clothes that fit right." I don't see anything wrong with anyone, small or large, however, I think almost anyone agree that fat people get more grief from society about their size than a "petite" person would know how to handle.

cookiecache 4 years ago
I understand where you're coming from, since my best friend is a size 1 and 5'3", and of course, has issues finding clothes, I'd also like to say that as a tall girl 5'9" I have similar problems of finding clothes that fit. It's not size (there are plenty of 10-12's out there) but length. Everytime I go in a store I have to search racks of clothes for Tall. so tall people have problems with proportion too
AUlostchick09 4 years ago
lol i love this though
proudmexican111 4 years ago
Sorry about your situation. I used to be rather short myself so I know where you're coming from. As a girl, I'm now 5'5+ and I wouldn't go back for anything. I'm hoping to reach 5'11, now that would be awesome. Btw, only 3 and a half percent of girls out there are within an inch of 5'10, so it's not like everyone's tall.
lovexsqualor 4 years ago
Just so you know not that it makes much difference but men LOVE petite girls. Petites get all lot of admiration, trust me. Youre just fucked when it comes to buying clothes thats all! I feel for you but I feel more for the "fat" people out there who have to put up with a lot rubbish than just clothes.

Lindsaylovesmcr 4 years ago
You need to not be so ignorant. ou pretty much sound like this "oh my god i'm so skinny and short i think people should stop paying attention to fat people and pay attetion to me!!" i don't think i have EVER in my 16 years heard a skinny/petite girl say i wish i was fat. however i HAVE heard from bigger girls and even girls my saize say i wish i was skinny....they end up going on a crash diet where many girls don't recover and why? because they wish they were like you...
Lindsaylovesmcr 4 years ago 3
Actually, there are quite a few women who are 5'4" and under: at least 60%! (Remember that the fashion world prefers to focus on supermodels which makes it seem like tall is average.) Now, obviously that's not as much as 70% but it's still over 50%. So why the huge discrepancy in availability? And btw, while there is some attempt to make clothes for fat people trendy, there are virtually none for petites.
Persiancat91 4 years ago
clothes companys make more money by making more fat clothes than petite becaussse 70% of americans are overweight
how many ppl are petite? not very many
srry americas just greedy now, they prolly dont rly care

Oh, and for all of the idiots who keep saying "Eat more", why don't y'all stop stuffing your faces and supersizing your food? No one ever said you had to finish a whole jumbo size bag of chips by yourself. It's not true that there are not enough "fat" sizes. Anytime I shop, I see far more 12+s than 2s, more XLs than XSs. Or do you people need tents?! Maybe the fat is eating away at your brain cells.
Persiancat91 4 years ago
Petite people can simply buy regular clothes and have them hemmed. This is NOT true for Plus Sizes.
djparrish01 4 years ago
That is NOT true. Petite sizes are not just shorter, they're slimmer as well. It means taking in shoulders, waists, and hips.
