yep...the guitars and drums were mixed up in my face tonight as I watched Kenny Chesney in concert through DirecTV. Sugarland came on next. Much different than this song, but billed as country.
I try to listen to country stations on the radio but can't find any real country so I just pull out my cds of George Jones, Vern Gosdin, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard,etc., I have them all on my Ipod Touch, on my computer, make playlists and burn on Cds with a good mixture of MY country music. If the current singers didn't have videos to put them on the charts, they'd never make it, for instance Taylor Swift, I'd rather watch Judge Judy on TV and that's saying a lot.!!
This is one of the best country songs of all time. It has a lot of truth to it and todays singers couldn't hold a candle to these two singers. This is what country music is suppose to sound like. The best song of all time is "He Stopped Loving Her Today by Geroger Jones, but this is a close second.

I think my problem with pop-country is the fact that it doesn't have the soul of the older works. I don't mind Taylor Swift and I tolerate Carrie Underwood, but they don't have the same soul. I LOVE this song!! I love country music from the beginning all the way up to the late 90s & there is a small handful of good true country singers today. I don't mind it changing over the years, but KEEP IT COUNTRY!! I blame Shania Twain with her skanky Come On Over album. It's been mostly downhill since then. Thanks a lot Shania!!!!

as much as i hate the style today's country artists are putting out, i think larry gatlin pretty much said it perfectly when he said "they're doing it their way, we did it our way, johnny cash did it his way, but you gotta understand that nashville country will never be the same. after all, johnny cash is dead and his house burned down." now i'll never call swift's or sugarland's style real country but i do agree with that

I think my problem with pop-country is the fact that it doesn't have the soul of the older works. I don't mind Taylor Swift and I tolerate Carrie Underwood, but they don't have the same soul. We need a Cash, the Carters or Haggard or even a distant equivelent to Hank Williams Sr. Or maybe get more experimental, not just with pop and rock, but maybe go into world music, punk, etc. I'd like to see something like that.

As much as I belive this song is about Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, it's wrong. Country music isn't dead and gone, she's just wounded and laying in the corner waiting for someone to bring her back. So I say get rid of these Yankees and blond bimbos (no offence to any blonds) and bring back the old artist who know what they're doing! We may have lost Hank, Jonny and Waylon, but damnit we still have Haggard and Jones! So long as artists like Alan and George are singing, Country has a chance

im gonna say it again. waylon jennings was considered rock and roll by the country brass when he got started. and ill argue with anyone that he was the bes ever in any music. what he did for artists and the music itself will always be there. i understand that country music has cahanged and a lot of people dont like it. but its unfair ti singleout a couple of people as the problem. that started long before them. fact is they make music people want to buy and listen to. its called free market.

i love this music. but lets lay off taylor swift. all she does is sing the songs. she dosent decide what gets played. at least she shows up for her concerts unlike a certain drunk has-been your all beholden to. there is room for all kinds of country music. i guess waylon jennings wasnt country either. bottom line is its a free country. if you dont like her dont listen to her. i for one think its nice that young girls have someone like her to look up to these days.
