This guy is totally full of shit. The majority of HIV infections among black women ARE NOT due to the DL thing - it is a total myth. The Centers for Disease Control agrees. This is a NO DATA zone.
Actually a good number of HIV cases are still a result of drug use, primarily IV drug use. A lot of people just refuse to admit they are addicts, or knowingly and willingly choose to engage in risky sexual behavior.
Hence why there is such a large chunk of the female populace that still prefers to go along with the "hidden gay boogieman", instead of just coming out and staying they can't kick the needle and enjoy being on their back.
I don't think it's because there are black men on the down low which is why AIDS is more prevalent in the black community. That's an easy scapegoat. I think it is a combination of factors including lack of education and poverty.
D.L.'s comment about not being PC when it comes to medical issues is true, however the banning of gay men donating blood because apparently we're all very promiscuous is in itself a stereotype. The Health and Human services department should be more concerned about finding a more thorough method of ensuring the health of the blood supply from whoever donates, instead of just giving in to stereotypes, and limiting the pool of blood donors that are sorely needed.
I was really disappointed with this segment especially what Sherri said, on the show today with black men, DL black men and levels of HIV. These people seem to forget that:
1. Any one who is having unprotected sex is @ risk of contracting HIV and other STI's.

Thomas Roberts is delicious and I want to have his babies. The rest of the conversation was a let down. The current ban on gays giving blood is just ridiculous. Also using "down low" men as a scapegoat is lame.

First of all, it's estimated that only 10 % of the population is gay. That means for every 10 hot guys you see, only ONE of them is likely to be gay, and the other NINE hot guys are likely to be straight and love vagina.
There are millions of hot straight guys in the world. Why do you think gay guys always admit to crushing on hot straight guys?

wouldn't it be great if every donor has to have like a paper that said they're healthy & ddf like 2 weeks to 1 month before they donate blood? then that would take care of the gay prejudice when it comes to giving blood

This guy is totally full of shit. The majority of HIV infections among black women ARE NOT due to the DL thing - it is a total myth. The Centers for Disease Control agrees. This is a NO DATA zone.

Actually a good number of HIV cases are still a result of drug use, primarily IV drug use. A lot of people just refuse to admit they are addicts, or knowingly and willingly choose to engage in risky sexual behavior.
Hence why there is such a large chunk of the female populace that still prefers to go along with the "hidden gay boogieman", instead of just coming out and staying they can't kick the needle and enjoy being on their back.

I don't think it's because there are black men on the down low which is why AIDS is more prevalent in the black community. That's an easy scapegoat. I think it is a combination of factors including lack of education and poverty.

D.L.'s comment about not being PC when it comes to medical issues is true, however the banning of gay men donating blood because apparently we're all very promiscuous is in itself a stereotype. The Health and Human services department should be more concerned about finding a more thorough method of ensuring the health of the blood supply from whoever donates, instead of just giving in to stereotypes, and limiting the pool of blood donors that are sorely needed.

I was really disappointed with this segment especially what Sherri said, on the show today with black men, DL black men and levels of HIV. These people seem to forget that:
1. Any one who is having unprotected sex is @ risk of contracting HIV and other STI's.
2, It is also the responsibility of the female to protect herself from HIV and other infections. What is wrong with demanding a HIV test from your partner every 3 months?
3. STOP BLAMING THE MEN and GAY men for spreading HIV!
