This place began life in the early 90s as the information centre of the Channel Tunnel construction project and starting point for bus tours of the completed terminal area. It had one of the old tunnelling machines parked outside for a number of years until Eurotunnel sold it all off.
@materialcontroller No, sorry, this place is in a different location to that, but I do have a video of the old Eurotunnel exhibition centre in my video lists
the video brings back memories .love it use to work there.high end i was and made it the place it is today .the highlight of my career.i lost my other posh job dident tell my now ex wife as she wouldent be seen with some one who works at a service station she was a proper posh and worked there for a year hiring and firing [mostly firing ]corporat ducking and diving until i left and became a banker [now ex]and now live in france on my big pension
there is a amazing thing called opening hours use a amazing invention called google you type something and it amazingly comes up with ansers for what u searched
Seriously you need to get a life, you complain that a chain or franchise food outlet goes out of business that you can get anywhere in the UK/World, which to me is good news quote 'its sad that its not visited more 'great architecture' are you kidding ITS A MOTORWAY SERVICE STATION!! You need help!
properly "lol"ed at the comment that said "did you work in the comercial industry in the 1980s" the music is so 80s!!!! a few star fade ins and out and it would be complete ahahaha.
Don't even know how i ended up looking at video of an empty service station but it is kinda hilarious, with that music , i would like that played at my funeral too, i would like the idea of everybody just being totally bemused, i bet staff there are very good at crossword puzzles, probably jigsaws and scrabble too
It seems highly unlikely that an MSA could fail due to "poor signage" as all MSA's on British motorways have basically had basically the same type and style of signage. I would say this particular MSA was poorly sited - just minutes from the Eurotunnel and the port of Dover. People coming towards these locations would be a little concerned about time whereas those who found they had arrived early would be hardly likely to turn back along the M20,
this really is another disgusting MSA, i cant understand why they just keep getting them so wrong... theyre supposed to be a relaxing break from the road, by the looks of this id be back in my car as soon as possible, unbelievable. having said that the music is immense
Latest update, no sorry No glass Bridge, but you can watch the Eurostars go past outside. No "Eat" any more, but there`s now a new food outlet called "Great British Breakfast" !!
I used to like going there in the morning and it being empty.
I've not been recently, but the massive ''24'' on the side of the building s a bit misleading as it was closed by about 11pm when I last tried to get in.
Have to agree the signs off the M20 are poor and don't show who operates it, and whats with this 'services & port early arrivals' crap? why not call it Folkestone or Westenhanger services. The Shell petrol station has fairly decent coffee machines.
One ot the outlets has closed, the "Eat" sandwich shop.. just as business seems to be slightly picking up for the summer.. if only they ahd kfc, Burger King, WHS , Starbucks etc logos on the M20 signs, like other MSA`s do..but there`s a NEW Tourist info centre/ Howletts shop.. again, no tourist info sign on the Motorway sign, its as if the Highways agency have it in for them.
They really do need better signs off the Motorway .. hope the Highways agency sorts it by the summer.. it is such a good service station, yet probably not many know ! Hopefully it will be the success it deserves to be in the summer. Thinking about it, similar though smaller Peterborough and Cambridge services were quiet when they first opened and are now bustling and busy.. so hopefully, it just needs time.
I use it before going in through the tunnel.

I remember stopping at a service station at about 2am and having the best Kentucky Fried Chicken ever.
I didn't even know they were 24 hours and i don't even like KFC, but it was fucking delicous.
Just thought i'd share my story.
