This method wouldn't last long, now would the suppression be anything major. I would think after a clip or two it would be so burnt and full of carbon that it would suppress less with every shot. Replace the sponge with rolled screen and the rubber washers with steel caps from an auto shop (u have to make a few cuts) and use a steel tube instead of aluminum, weld it into place and u hole punching rounds with a dremel afterwards to smooth out the hole, u want the hole as small as humanly possible
Perhaps this is not the optimum design for a suppressor - That I will indeed give you. However, that being stated and rather obvious, a sponge is basically full of microscopic holes. In essence I can see the theory behind this design that it will slow the flow of expanding gasses but not stop them. Most of you watching this video probably do not know that silencers and mufflers are not all that different, essentially you are trying to slow down the gasses that are expanding from your round.

See, and no offense to any one. But people that think there cool because they are able to make a silencer out of simple materials. However they dont have a clue on what the fuck they are dong. Ok this may be effective but this is still bullshit. This is one way to completely destroy your barrel. And the fact that you painted the barrel is just as bad. Obsolute drivel. This is simply a tube with junk in it, made to look like a suppressor. This is a little air rifle. The kind of thing I bought my kid when he was 9. Air rifles are inherently quiet anyway, so why the need to attempt to silence further (not that the contraption shown in this video would do anything anyway)? All he is doing is making the air rifle longer and unweildly for no reason. This kid has obviously spent way too much time plaing airsoft and silly video games. Utter nonsense!
