DAMN! LIFE IS SHORT!..I remember back in 1978...14 yr old griffitti writer!- i bomb this tr-line till my markers went dry,.. griffitti was the u-tube of that era!
Don't mean to sound old, but I remember when it was the No.2 line in red riding in those R 42's covered with graffiti first car to the last. Man the car was so hot'cause it traveled from Gun Hill Rd all the way to New Lots Av. Those were dem daze!!!
I also remember when the 2 train would run into Brooklyn. I used to get off at the Saratoga Ave and walk home towards Linden Blvd in Brownsville. We used to take the 4 train to Utica Ave and catch the local 2 train the rest of the way. That train was always hot as hell because they'd send the air-conditioned trains down towards Flatbush Ave. While people get the impression that Brownville was full of thugs that morning train to Manhattan was always standing room only with us working class folks.
Sweeeet!!!! I'm a big fan of the N.Y.C. subway system. What train do you normally operate? R-62's, 142's? How about the older trains like the R-40 slants, 40m's or the 42's? I really miss the old smee's, those things had attitude although most operators hated to operate them I bet.
how long was that train????

Actually, if you are wondering, the 4 train sometimes only goes outside to only the relay track.

sounded juicy.
mtaworker123 3 years ago 4
the mta should put r142s on the 3
thsubwayman 3 years ago 3
I think there was a cameo appearance of an R142 on the 3 (search for it on You Tube), for some reason/
Kote12TK 2 years ago
The Mta should add 3 for some rush hour trip to/from Brooklyn college-Flatbush avenue.

R42s never ran on the "2" route for the
following reasons:
1)The "2" route consists of a fleet of cars
built to IRT specifications, namely, 51 feet
long, 12 feet high and 8.75(8'9") wide.
2)R42s are cars built to IND/BMT specifica-tions, namely, 60 feet long, 12 feet high
and 10 feet wide.
3)Having been born in Brooklyn, NY, I have seen these trains in action.
I hope that information is useful to you.

Don't know how you did it but that was great. Did the train operator stop because he saw you there?
vynilspinner 4 years ago
Yeah. That train operator is a good friend of mine. We worked together when we was subway cleaners. Now we operate trains.
