According to Elligton Panorama The Mooche the version on Ellington Uptown was released 1 July 1952

An almost identical performance of this was recorded on Duke Ellington Uptown
in 1951 I believe. It also had a killer version of Skin Deep composed by and featuring Louie Bellson

I think you're off on the year. It's 1951 or 1952, with Willie Smith on sax and Bellson on drums.

"La Mooche" is a no-ager, and The Duke as well. Wish the media set an eye on this vintage, rather than on all those scrawny starlets.
