@AfsAnehAfairytale Hi Rita. I think these movie shorts started with preparing children for what to do in case of a nuclear attack. It was the cold war era and
paranoia ran high. The other films may have just been thought to be good ideas after those first ones.
Dick York was in another educational film by the famed Coronet Films. Titled "Shy Guy" (its alread been posted on youtube and is also at archive (dot) org). Naturally Dick York played the "shy guy". Made in 1947 when York was only 19 years old. It was also narrated by Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes fame!
@classicphile I noticed on the Wikipedia page that York did a number on these educational films in the early days of his career. It's a shame that he suffered such a debilitating back injury while filming a movie, over came that then died of emphysema. He maintained a great outlook on life though. Thanks Marc!
@davidperi I started school in 1959 (kindergarten) and I never went through the atomic bomb exercises but did say the pledge of allegiance and watched these types of educational films. I guess things were different depending on where you lived.
@GJNCA LOL, you noticed too!

Interesting movie Michael. In my country we never had any educational movies, rather strange.
Thanks for this upload.

I went to school in the 90s and we still had the Pledge. We had Drive-By Shooting Drills rather than A-Bomb Drills, though.

@kingofderelicts I'm kind of glad that i missed those Drive-By shooting drills. That was a later era. I'm glad you had the Pledge of Allegiance.

We never had these films, or atomic bomb excercises, or even the pledge alliance to the flag when I was in grade school and HS....1940s--50s.
