  • AWESOME job!

  • Good job!

  • Can you share us how do you play this song on guitar? I only see many bass cover videos.

  • Absolutely terrific. By meticulously showcasing the guitar and bass parts you've made me appreciate the original song even more than I already did, which is saying something.

  • Lovely. Nailed it all, save for ... I can't hear down in the mix, did you hit the kick drum notes right and buried them? Partridge can't make anything easy...its a 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2....otherwise, perfecto!

  • @johannquatz Well, I had about 3-4 different bass patterns programmed, but I might have entered one of them wrong. YT screws with the actual sound as I mastered it, so you can hear that kick drum very easily with the MP3. I couldn't really give a toss about making it 100% perfect. 95% is plenty good enough for me. :)

  • Wow, it sounds phenomenal! Great job!

  • Dude ! You Rock !

  • Dude, you totally nailed this tune. I'm a bassist, and I know that part is correct. What I've always struggled with is the guitar part, and it sounds fantastic the way you did it here. Not just the fact that it's on a 12-string (a Ricky, I'm sure), but the part is just perfect. I'm going to present this tune to my cover band to learn, and your instrumental cover is just the thing for our guitarist! Well done!!

  • Well done, lad! How did you get such a super superior guitar sound?

  • @BOBNOMO Glad you liked it. I'm not so sure if it's superior or not, but what I did was to double track it. The Rick is already full sounding but double tracking it really gives it some body. There are 6 guitars in this. Rick in each channel double tracked and then a Tele double tracked for Andy's rhythm part. It helps if you're really repeatable in your playing, but if you can do it, it really helps a mix. Thanks a lot!

  • The splash on the hi hat is to hot. Bring it down a few notches.. Other then that the song sounds pretty good...!

  • to be fair that is brilliant

  • Any/all bass players can appreciate this marvel of songwriting - and god knows how many times I've tried to crack it - and given up!

This is fantastic joshua - now I can I sing along and pretend I'm Andy P.

XTC karaoke - you know it makes sense.

  • this is beautiful!

  • Great job!

  • This is just fantastic....great Rickenbacker sound!

  • Sweet!

  • I love how this really showcases the intricate arrangement of this song with the guitars and bass. A craft that can really be lacking these days.

  • Excelente!!

  • Fantastic job! Very well done.

  • Wow, this is absolutely fantastic! Great job. Cheers.

  • Nice!

  • wow... really impressive! sounds fantastic...

  • Very good.

  • Bass teacher taught me about this band(specifically this song) and I love it now. Great cover.

  • Awesome man...I have been a bassist / guitarist for 22 yrs. & used to practice this entire cassete whilst playing bass, & learning the vocal part along with it....great job....

  • I d' like to play this song on the guitar!

Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how to play this song....It just teaches on the bass.

  • very good effort :)

  • Not happy? You should be happy! Great!!!

  • Well done!!

That Ric is not of this earth!!

  • wow! as gud as the original, well done sir

  • I have to admit I expected this to be rubbish but instead it really quite good! The 360 sounds a-ok. I have a 620/12 and a 330. Keep up the good work. HH in NYC.

  • Hey! Nice job on a great song with a killer bass line!

  • Gracias desde México

  • absolutely amazing. my jaw's on the floor mate

  • Speaking as a Bassist, man...you nailed this one. I remember beating my vinyl of "Oranges & Lemons" to death trying to get in the ballpark of what Colin was playing. This is fantastic, great job!. Peace...

  • I will always take a compliment from a bass player when I'm attempting to emulate Colin. Much appreciated.

  • Excellent Cover!!!!! I really enjoy this..totally underrated band for sure!!! Their Lyrics are brilliant but I enjoy just hearing the MUSIC!!!! ( closet piano player, so yes!! I enjoy!!! )

  • >> Hope I've done it justice.

  • Pretty damn good, Joshua! Congrats.Keep up the great work!

Hope to post some more stuff soon myself...

  • Thank you so much!

I really like your drumming, so please do much more of that and less sock puppets! I think it's amazing that you would want to learn drumming from the great Terry C!

  • Well thank you kindly.

  • Excellent, pleased you enjoyed London and also pleased you're planning more XTC tunes.

    Can't wait!

  • Man I love it! GREAT job!

  • Much appreciated!

  • Oh well, never mind (didn't suggest you bother Mr. Partridge tho'!) :-)

Keep posting your XTC instrumentals; they're terrfiic.

  • I appreciate the comments. London, by the way, was just fantastic and I've come back simply chuffed to bits. I've recharged my English levels in the battery pack and will start working on more tunes soon.

  • Joshuacrime:

Are you planning to visit Swindon specifically whilst you're here?

If so, and you've never been before, stick to Swindon Old Town, which is far nicer and more inspiring than the modern, over-developed and insipid New Town.

Old Town = Lots of Victorian buildings, very Red Brick Dream, very XTC.

  • Unfortunately, I only have a few days, so London is going to be it for my stay. Besides, I can imagine Andy gets enough of people creeping around his house.

    It does sound nice, though.

  • I've always wanted to hear this instrumental. Love the guitars. thanks so much for posting. Give us some more xtc magic!

  • Thank you for commenting. I'll be doing some more XTC once I get off vacation. I'm going to London in a week so I can go visit the Holy Land for more divine inspiration. LOL.

  • Thanks very much. :)

  • Another cracking job!

    Keep it up.
