In case you hadn't noticed - in the UK, the word 'Aluminum' is *not* pronounced differently, it's *spelled* differently! We add an additional 'i' making it 'Aluminium'. Look on the packet at the beginning of the film. They decided to do this so that it follows the element naming 'ium' convention - Barium, Rhodium, Titanium, Cadmium, Chromium etc. So if youwanted to be picky you could say the US spelling is 'non-standard'.
All of you must be little kids... British say aluminum different, technically it's correct, American language was just copied from other languages then changed a little. go ahead say that I'm an idiot or a fag or w/e, I'm right so get over yourself.
Wow! I tried Technoweld (or similar product) and failed lamentably. Now I see where I went wrong. Thank you for this wideo. Aluminum welding (soldering) wihtout TIG or MIG at last!

@Revco91 FYI, western Canadians have the closest to a completely accent free English pronunciation, the "stereotypical" Canadian accent is found mostly east of Manitoba, and gets even weirder into the Maritime provinces. But yeah, those central and easterners do sound odd.
Seems like a lot of dicking around. If you had a one off repair that needed doing on a unique item that can't be replaced it may be the go but if you were doing more than one job I would just buy a mig. Loved the narration, like Bilbo107, his voice took me back to the old training movies when I was in the RAAF.
I've got a small puncture hole on a NON PATH-CRITICAL section of my refrigerator. I can fill it right up and blocking that line will not block the circuit. Anyone think this will work to seal up the system again for 150psi FREON?
I Don't see this as a very practical application for both repair and fab. actually why was this product developed I guess if you don't have a tig welder have at it . Just seems silly to me have spent many years welding aluminum
Thanks for posting this, very interesting. Sounds like the films I watched back in the late 70's during my apprenticeship with Rolls. I will give it a try as I have a broken crankcase on my Morini 50 engine. Regards.
I dont know if they are the same sorry. If you have watched all the vids I posted there is a section where they use a mild steel nut to 'cast' a stud and then screw the nut off.
Having had chance to use Technoweld a bit it is good BUT if you need to do more than one joint you run the risk of the first melting again as the Alu conducts the heat so well. Try contacting Technoweld directly. Im just a user nothing to do with the company.
Sorry I just copied the dvd and posted as sections. It is just how it comes from the producers and it says it is ok to copy it. No closed captions on the disk.

I wouldn't notice so much..... if he didn't mispronounce the word every 3 seconds.

@kameyeam - it's not mispronounced. It's spelled differently in the UK.

@flyinhigh2006
Aluminium and Aluminum are synonymous. I find that in the US, people tend to use/recognize Aluminum instead of Aluminium.

So this is more brazing than actual welding

@waverider48
not really, because the parent metal is actually melted in the process.

Is 'Technoweld' rods the same as durafix rods?
Please can I ask if Durafix 'welding' rods can satisfactorily weld or solder mild steel parts together?
Can Durafix also weld aluminium and mild steel together (i.e. aluminium-mild steel welding)?
