  • wow i looked up this video to see a lady ride an ENGLISH horse and canter in ENGLISH tack wih ENGLISH posture. instead a saw a fat woman cantering around western (which i love ut i already know how to canter western). i was expecting the first part to be an intro and then in the next clip her be in english tack. but nooooooooo

  • Lady: *Sits in a western saddle* "I'm going to show you my tips and techniques in transitioning a horse in the english style of riding."

    Me: "Smart"

  • weird seeing this is a "english style" canter and she is riding a western saddle

  • How about you ride in a English saddle and ride an English horse. You are riding that horse all western and what you call a canter is what I call a nice natural lope unlike that pathetic one you make her do. Take those damn spurs off

  • That's so awsome how your horse listens to your ever word but I just think next time use a english saddle ...and haterz like really she is spending HER time making videos to help YOU. She doesn't need your damn ignorant attitude.

  • If you are going to demonstrate English why not try using an English saddle?

  • N dear god woman take off them spurs!!! Ur horse isn't a sack of dead meat it has a heart n she is behavoing quite nice, take em off dude also one more thing if ur gonna teach, teach western

  • WAAAAAITTTT!!!! lady ur posting looks ungaceful ur reins r waaaay to loose HEALS DOWN n were a helmet babe

  • is the horse head meant to be that low!?

  • The horse looks nice but to be honest that is horrible english riding.

  • that poor horse... im a beginer english and wester rider and i can do better then that. >.< you suck lady

  • Wtf. This lady can't even ride :L she looks like a balloon :Lx

  • Livestrongs videos are better....

  • What? get an English saddle......shorten your reins, take those spurs off and use your leg...this video is too funny.

  • What a horrible video. Her horse's head is too low because her reins are not short enough, and she had no control the horse stopped cantering...

  • I hate how some terrible riders, have such amazing show horses.

  • You need to learn how to correctly spur your horse and not over spur so much. You need to get an English saddle. You need to shorten your reins and stirrups. Your feet move WAY to much when you post lady. Learn to ride before 'teaching' us.

  • we dont ride ANYTHING like that in england!

  • @LottieMcChinigin English riding isn't that way in America either. I'm not sure what kind of riding she's trying to teach us. Westish? Englern? lol

  • You can tell she's riding incorrectly by the cadence of her voice. When you post, it should be so smooth that your voice doesn't change. You should be able to hold a conversation easily. Even a properly executed sitting trot should have the same result. Her voice kept breaking when she fell, rather ungracefully, into the saddle. Same thing goes for a canter.

  • WOW! THAT IS THE SLOWEST CANTER !! No offense but this girl really can't ride!

My friend who just started cantering looks better than this girl!

  • I feel sorry for the horse... If you are riding western, you shouldn't be teaching english!! :/

  • This girl is a bad rider anyways!

  • Lift her head to far up?!!! She nearly has it betwen her knees!!! English riding requires the horse to keep it's head high-ish not lower than it's back, that horse looks seriously uncomfortable, Expertvillage my ***

  • SHE CANT POST AND THATS A WESTERN SADDLE AND ATLEAST WEAR A HELMET.

  • she's wearing spurs.......does anyone else see that?? and why use a WESTERN saddle for an ENGLISH video?? that makes no sense to me... and also when she trots she plops back down into the seat which is not comfortable for the horse!! Lady, not to be rude or anything, but if your going to do a video correctly you need to first learn and make sure what your doing is correct first......

  • Well She is riding a Pleasure Horse!! Duhh! When You ride a hunt seat horse You have longer reins To show off the head set... and She doesn't ride english unless she shows I'm guessing. she is just practicing the horses hunt seat jog.

  • what kind of canter is that u r a baad rider and also ur reins way to long my instructer would shout t me if my reins AND strirrups were like that! also is it impossible for u to go FORWARDS TO WALK NOT JUST HALT WITH JOLT

  • what kind of canter is that u r a baad rider and also ur reins way to long my instructer would shout t me if my reins AND strirrups were like that!

  • I wish she would actually see these comments, because with her bad habits, i.e. foot too far in the stirrup, toes out, and a sloppy post, she isn't just putting herself at risk, she is seriously compromising the health of her horse.

  • oh wow that horse will have serious back problems by post trotting in an western saddle! shame on you!

  • @Horsespur101 Not that I think this "expertvillage" is the anything close to an expert but posting in a western saddle does not give the horse back problems. I have no idea where you found that bit of information. When you post you are hardly suppose to touch the seat. Top barrel race trainers post in western saddles all the time. If you want your horse to go in a extended trot while riding western posting is a much better option for the horse's back than bouncing around like a flapjack.

  • @GrungeEquestrian I have found that western posting trot is very different from the english posting trot. What the missunderstanding is that when you are teaching english posting USE AN ENGLISH SADDLE and the other way around, it can cause back problems to the horse if it isnt done correctly. AT my barn we had a horse who's back was sore. The vet ( also an equestrian) said that poor post troting, cantering, and ill saddles were problems expesially in using different discipline saddles

  • @Horsespur101 I in no way believed or still believed that she is doing correct by showing how to ride english in a western saddle. Not only is the saddle an issue but the horse is also behind the vertex...definitely no expert. You're right ill fitted saddles and such can cause sore backs. You're also correct that posting is different in a western saddle...your legs are longer. I was just explaining that posting in a western saddle in general correctly does not injury a horse's back.

  • @GrungeEquestrian That's correct, but posting as she does will cause injury. There was no body control from her hip to her heel, which resulted in her flopping back and forth.

  • Expert village sucks

  • you say your riding in the english style, but you in a WESTERN saddle, your reins are wayyyy to long, YOUR HEELS ARE NEVER DOWN IN YOUR VIDEOS. nothing about that was english. just because you say your riding english doesnt mean you are. to ride english you need the proper saddle etc..

btw your horse looks very uncomfortable.

  • ummm so many things wrong here who does she think she is giving out so much false info

  • did i miss the english bit

  • canter to halt? gonna cause some baaaad habits there

  • I ride english well becasue i am english lol and i know shes doing it wrong to us but look how well behaved her horse is! she says woh the horse stops dead i hae a feeling she was just showing the leg aid for the transition not how to ride english completely lol :)

  • Comment removed

  • it loooks like your horse has feet/back problems, andhis is not english style, your reins are far too long if that horse galloped off you would have no control at all. and your stirrups are far too long.

  • wow ur canter looks awful.

  • In english riding u rise up now farward :)

  • ugh okay i know i'm not an expert or anything but i know that's not the right way to ride a english saddle. her rings are way to long, she needs to tighten her rings, by alot. plus the horse's head is way to low, she's not in control at all of her horse. Come on lady...

  • you guys are sooo negative!! Instead of saying mean things about her, you should make a video, post it on here.

You can ride english on a western saddle! Stop being so prejudice. It's about the freedom on a horse, the control and the bond with such an amazing animal.

  • LMAO ASH (thehorseprincess) i agrrr completly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this lady yh shes probly amazing at western or watever she does but english... u need lessions from a actual english rider! O.O

  • 5 things:

    1) When riding english, HAVE AN ENGLISH SADDLE!!

    2) Reins are supposed to be short in english riding!!!

    3) Stirrups should be shorter in english!!

    4) Heels should be down!

    5) Cannot rise with that length stirrups!!!

Thats all i have to say!

  • @TheHorsePrincezz and she doesn't have a hat:Lxx

  • this lady is horrible

  • @devonlovesu78 TRUE

  • Kelli, hands are way too wide, reins too long. For posting, use your thighs, not your feet. And heels down, toes up. And sit up straight, and elbows in....so much to correct here.. Tsk..Tsk..

Also, It would help if you'd stop eating Burger King for a year. :)

  • okay all of you who dont no this should if you ride. this is a quarter horse is head has to be low and a tiny bit round. but i do agree with some of there comments she does need to not rock back and sit straight and have her heals back and any one show english riding in a western saddle its just a different way of sitting and poster

  • y do u have the reins so long? and his head is so.... so low

  • @Sumboodee western pleasure thats the answer..

  • Wow. Horrible. I don't even ride English and I can see this is an awful video.

  • wtf this is terrible,

    1) that is not an english saddle, not even v good english style

    2) reins are way to long even for western

    3) toes are pointing out too much, in general this is not english style and hardly western, your stirrups are too long so u cant rise properly and ur horse loooks a bit like its going to colllapse

  • your terrable, your doing at least 10 things wrong.

Seating-your feet are pointe out to mutch

Looking-you need to look where your going.

Feet- You need to put way mre preser on the heals

    AND MANY MANY MORE.

  • Oh wow, You have to have your horses head up higher for english riding! Now hang down so low. & your reins are WAYY to loose or long. Your trying to teach people? Pshh, someome needs to teach you.

  • she needs much shorter reins and that horse looks really agitated and she should wear a helmet even if shes a expert and all it would be a good example for the beginners!

  • Pick up that horses head! could her reins be any more loose?! I would have gotten chewed out for ever letting my horses head hang that low and have such long reins! wow!! Was she taught to ride or did she teach herself?!

  • Ok wtf is this! lol when you canter yh fair enough your body rocks a lil but it dont rock backwards :/ you rock forward if rocking at all :/ you should never have ur shoulders further back then your heels :/

  • she had nooooooo control omg yea, watz up with the western sattle on a english horse!! and ur not even suppozd to let the horses head keep down!

  • @inuyashacharmed3234

Agreed, and jumping?! Jumpingin a western saddle can REALLY hurt the horse >:|

  • what happen to this video being english?? she is riding western and wen the horse canters she ooks like she is going to fall backwards the horses back she needs to learn to ride before she can maka a video for horse back riding tips so dnt even go there LADY!!!!!

  • first of all, y is she riding western wen demonstrating sumthing in english... second, she isnt holding the reins right and third, that looks like a very foward horse AND shes using spurs, which makes it even easier. :P

  • she is a beautiful horse but i HATE it when they have there head sown like that it is awful. my horse has her head held up apart from when she is walking like but that is normal for any horse. and that is not how to hold your reins at all. you need to have much less of a gap between your hands and her head.

  • She is just using split reins. She is teaching u English techniques in a western saddle she does have her leads correct Also come check my riding out ... User name is cowgirl4life1000

  • I don't get it; It says English, but she's riding Western. It doesn't really make sense.

  • I want to learn how to ride a horse but if they say thats a not good video I will learn by experts ;)

  • Yeah that was crap, but now I know how to do the transition tidier :D

  • she cant ride very well for 1 she needs to hold her reins properly and she also needs to shorten them cuz her reins r slack and she needs to move her hands back and forth so she can feel the horses head go u and down and she needs to straighten her back look ahead and sit sorword a bit

  • Oh dear. Expertvillage has failed again. she was so heavy on that horses back and she might as well have no reins at all. She want using them. Penguin feet. Using spurs on a horse that obviously doesnt need them. Needed a lot more energy. Riding is not as lazy as that. Needed proper english tack and a lot more! the other videos with mare-kieth someone or other is a lot better.

  • Ok why is she using a western saddle in english riding?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @toidhh22 she probably dosent have one. duh

  • Bad bad bad

  • if she was showing how to transition in english why the hell are her hands as high as her ears. lol she can't ride for shit she is obviously on a push button horse

  • I just started cantering. I get high off it, i love the Canter

  • Good christ, what a godawful rider. I do believe she ties up there with "Sara" in the expert village idiots. Except so far I haven't seen this one put on splint boots upside down and call a kimberwicke a 'tom thumb snaffle bit. tom thumb must be a pretty popular trainer!'

  • what are you doing?

  • FORREAL i just started riding like 4 months ago and i have been thrown off many times by my colt hes 3 im training him MY WAY LOL which does not involve beating him and i ride wesern always and i hate this womans advice because she dont know wtf she is talking about

  • it's a training saddle, which means u can ride english or western in it.

  • keep her head up

  • Am an English Rider And Your In Western Tack! You Should Have English Tack,I Dont Know Anything About Western Ridding At All! But If That Was An English Horse Then There Head Would Not Be Touching The Floor! And Is That An Arab Horse? No To Be Mean But They Are Very Fine Horses And Shouldn't Take That much Weight! If You Was A English Rider You Would Be Horrible!

  • Its a Qh. and she is in a English bridle i think that's what she meant by English.

  • u cant just say this is how to go from a trot to a canter some horses cant do that..and this is an english video with a western saddle??

  • they need better teachers... i dont even know why im watching this. lol cuz i ride western and i think i ride better than her hahah and i suck :P

  • Comment removed

  • im not sure if she was posting or sitting, maybe both?

  • This video is poorly made. So, sorry. I will agree to all who posted below me. Thanks everyone for your comments.

  • yeah there head should never be that low. unless like in dressage if there going across the diagol on a loose rein or something and thats barely a canter. thats barely a lope

  • thats def not roundness. when your horse is round, the poll at the topof the head is the highest point. that right there is her just not holding him prop

  • i hope she falls and busts her head

that'll teach her to wear a helmet

i guess she invented a new style of ridin:

    Westenglish

  • "We don't want her to jerk her head or lift her head too far up..."

*bangs head on desk* This horse is behind the vertical, and most English horses do not carry their head that low unless they are doing a stretchy circle or something. I'm surprised this horse hasn't jerked her head the way the rider is using the reins...

  • Okay this video didn't suck like the others. But seriously, y'all need to quit with your dumb comments. Why teach English in Western tack anyway? It's her choice to wear a helmet or not by the way y'all so thats bugging me.

  • First her heels are not up. I have watched them the WHOLE time. And english tack is not nessecary, I ride western but I have done a lot of english stuff on him. I have practiced 2 point jumping and other things.

Second ahe is neck reining so her hands dont have to be together. Why cant everyone just leave the women alone and let her teach. I personally think she is doing great. And the fact that she is taking her time to do this for ya'll is like amazing u guys should respect her!

  • shes not taking her time, she gets paid to make this crap, and sure you can ride english in western tack, but she still rides poorly.

  • Was that posting

Rider for 2years .... Actual english!

  • this video was actually quite nice ^___^ my favorite from kelly :D She rode pretty well-except for her heels as always being UP what the heck-explained nicely what she was doing, and for once her horse was moving beautifully instead of the pained sluggish strides

  • Why demonstrate English in a western, they are completely differnt riding possitions and styles!! The horses behaviour was excellent considering the aweful hands feet all over the place that the reines being held like a child loosing controle of a donkey!! Village idiots more like!!! This is teaching people nothing!!!! PS WTF IS SHE USING SPURES FOR!? hate them!

  • yo she was lik pulling the rains back n telling her/him to go and her heals where up at all times and if i rode like that on my horse id get in BIG trouble first of all and second id get bucked off o n btw GET THE RIGHT TACK LADY!!!!

  • Heels down

    Hands down

    Hands closer together

    Hold you reins properly

    English tack

    And where's your helmet?

  • she needs to get in shape then get lessons herself when i ride i DONT! ride like that press with your heels not ur vag haha just had to say that wtf was she doing anyways lol

  • im an english rider and you need to hold the riens right and you need to keep your heels and your hands down and your toes up... DUH!but seemasthough you are american i'll let u off!

  • no. your right. english is english no matter where you are. she also bounces when she sits. doid anybody see that but me?

  • Her heels need to be down, so do her hands, she isn't even holding the reins right and she needs to pull her horse's head up.

I'm an English rider and that is definitely not 'English style'.

I stopped horse riding just after I started learning how to canter, I hoped this video would help. It didn't =/.

  • Expert at what??? Western pleasure?

  • her back is way too arched...if i was in a show riding like her the judges would have a field day

  • expert village???

I say you dont know how to rid properlly

yes thats right you start canter in eanglish stile...

but I was looking for tips on the canter position

    the rider needs to:

    keep her heals down

    hold her rains right

and be with the movement of the horse not after or before it

    (sorry about the spelling mistakes)

  • heals down,

    hands down

    hold your rains properlly

    this is no eanglish riding

    really bad rider

  • I agree. Just cuz you have an english bridle on, doesnt make it english. other than that, seems like your average western pleasure circuit type of rider. not saying thats bad. They just ride different than the die-hard english riders.

  • tighten ur reins lady! shes sooo bad! just look at her! her heels aren't down and no helmet! thats not a good example!

  • she was posting was to high plus she sitting to hard

  • omg you seriously gotta sort yourself out!! i mean your trot is faster than your canter!!your sliding around your saddle like your having an orgasm or something nd u calling that a posting trot?!wtf?! you know, i really feel sorry for the poor horse..if your title is transitions:ENGLISH STYLE' then why are you using a WESTERN saddle??and you call yourself a seasoned rider or expert....

  • LOL!!!! Please, do elaborate more on the concept of having an orgasm while riding. Does it make slide on the saddle? Ah, how i wish i was a woman sometimes....

  • I'm an English rider, and although the canter aids are the same in both English in Western riding, I think it would be better if she actually used the right saddle.... :/

  • last time I rode English, ummm... I used an English hunt seat! OMG these "expert vids" suck! They are gonna get a beginner killed..

  • Yeah, expertvillage, you need to get a new person, she needs to sit up straighter and she's pulling reigns too tight as wee, tell her to switch her gear out to english

  • you said the ENGLISH style....um......thats WESTERN.

  • She should have the english equipment when she does that :/ I ride English and she's right, that's the way to canter, but she should have english equipment!

  • Poor horse. Having to carry that lady. Poor poor horse. Myabe that lady needs to watch some weight loss videos.

  • Wow. Expertvillage needs to get some smart people to teach. FIRST OFF THIS SAYS ENGLISH STYLE AND YOUR RIDING WESTERN! NOT ENGLISH! DUMB BLONDE!!!!!!

    Wow! People people people.....

  • The way she gets her horse into the canter is english style, her equipment is indeed western.

I ride English, and I would love to ride western sometime, I don't know how you get your horse into the canter in western riding. Maybe it is the same, but the title is okay, putting your outer leg a bit to the back is absolutely english riding.

(sorry for my poor English, I'm Dutch ;) )

  • this woman is ridiculous. in all the videos. :bangs head on desk:

  • GOOOD LORD HELP US !

  • i thought u said u were english riding but it lookes mixed up

  • do these people know anything? first that is a western saddle, but he has an english bridle...but pull his head up for goodness sake! look at the horses head!

  • just wondering, why is the horse long and low and behind the verticle if she is teaching "english style"?

  • please look at other riders , i have not seen anyone else ride like this apart from beginners , people would laugh if i was riding like this !

  • read the heading "english style " that means uk britain england english what ever ! so we are not english people then in the uk . she should of read the german hand book on riding it would of said "german style" but not made for people in germany dar

  • Yall are really stupid.

If she is teaching like this, maybe its not specifically made for people in the UK, huh? I find this very helpful and I'm sure other people do too, so get over yourselves for christs sake. She is a nice rider, I mean, look at her horse! Nice, supple, good carriage, etc.

  • Personally i think this woman should be shot for trying to teach english riding this way i am from the uk and a qualified instructor (BSHAII)and was totally sickened by this video its no wonder it has so many negative responses and to all you out there who think this was a good video STOP RIDING FIND ANOTHER HOBBY AND DONT MAKE YOUR HORSES SUFFER ANYMORE!!!

  • thats a western saddle...not a english..and posting in western is impossible...it kind hurts yer croutch...=/

  • omg you cant ride english in a western saddle..

  • you cant ride english riding on a western saddle!!!!!!! GRRRRR

  • that's not even canter that's a lope! english ? oh please! pathetic.....and take off the spurs.

  • Thats not a lope at all thats a canter and maybe she has spurs on bc her horse is spur broke which from the looks of it isnt broke well but alot of breed people have spur broke horses.

  • She is riding in more of an AQHA version of Hunter Under Saddle. Not like get someone ready to jump or go into an english equitation class.

  • When your teaching this how about get an english horse and saddle it would help.

  • lol Lkwhostalkinggx3. Funny Funny.

  • stick to western riding , stop trying to do english riding ,your not teaching anything about english riding , look up the english word for cowboy ! dodgy workmanship

  • LMFAO @ the uk meaning of cowboy sooooo true and this woman is a freakin joke and if she tried teaching like that in England she would be laughed out the country

  • u r to fat to rise in canter and shorten your reins

  • Whats with the long reins that isnt english more like western pleasure . english horses have far mor bounce in their transitions

  • that poor horse! i feel so sorry for her horse she has to have that fatass lard on top of her bouncing around like the moron she is, fuck you woman. and news flash; you dont fucking neck rein when your riding english, and obv. you dont use a western saddle riding ENGLISH! god your such a cunt.

  • okayyy budddyyy.

she is not fatttt, maybe she bounces a bit. The horse did not seem too effected by it. so stfu.

she probaly doesn't have an english saddle, those things can be expensiveee/

she's just trying to help. and you don't have to be a bitch about it.

if you dont like it dont commentt.

  • lol go ahead stand up for the fatass.

  • Im sorry but i have my horse riding exam in less than a year and i am trying desparately to canter and that was worse than me! For god sake, a) thats a western saddle, b) your rein's are a stupid length, c) the horse (if it is like mine) could swing its leg up when it makes the transition and hurt itself like that! This vid really hasn't helped me at all, maybe your the one who needs to do their riding exam? :/

  • may i ask why you are using a western saddle to teach english riding? seriously, reconsider that cause it cant really be considerd english. stick with western.

  • your wrong in every way u only sit for 2 before cantering and your riens are like washing lines they should be way tighter, you shouldent be aloud to ride a horse like that he shouled get more training and become a showjumper or a dressage horse he would be worth a bit since he is a throbread.TAKE MY WORDS I OWN AN EQUESTRAIN WITH OVER 75 HORSES!!!

  • your supposed to do a sitting trot, then ask for the canter. posting almost never works. it either puts you on the wrong lead, or just messes up.

  • Yes,yes, that's right.Post a JOG(be sure to pull your hands towards your hips every time you rise),bend your horse WAY behind the vertical, lift your hands nice and high to be sure she's stuck in a ball with her nose on her chest with your lose reins, then "sit"(this really means thump up and down on her back)then stick your outside spur into her side and pop your hands up once more and you have a "engilish canter"(i.e. horrible lope)

expertvillage could really be good if they got some experts!

  • i dont know much about riding but i do know that the horses head should be a bit higher. it looks like the horse is extremly tired or something. :/

  • I think it's because the horse is western and there head is down more. and when you ride western you are moving slower

  • you need ore contact with the horse through the reins, and i thaught this was english style riding, not western, i dont know if you have noticed yet, but they are not the same thing! read a book would you!

  • the problem with these videos is that they pretend western and english are the same -- which they're not! but the "expert" wrong on both styles. both say you should move with the horse in a smooth, natural, gentle way -- not whack the poor animal's spine with your big butt every beat. she doesn't have the seat, leg strength and balance to maintain that canter for more than 10 seconds!

  • if you don't like it. dont watch ittt..

  • First of all, You are using a western saddle

Second, Lift the horses head up

    Third, Stick to western riding

  • you said it all yeah if she wants to teach english she should you a english saddle not western (i have been riding english for like 5 1/2 years i should know)

  • I'm sorry but I am British and ride English. How can you ride English in Western Style tack and it definitely was more Western riding than English

  • how is this english? it's a beautiful western lope but not a canter.

  • i thought she said she was going to do a English canter

  • i think u just like the word collected coz im a dressage rider n that was a free canter on a long rein if you were trying to perform a free canter then that was great but a collected canter needs shorter reins and you should collect the trot alot more then that u should practacly be piffaling befor you attempt the collected canter also the leg aids are inside leg lightly used on the girth and outside leg heverly used behined the girth good luck with your riding chloe rayner xx
