@alececa Yes, it's when the energy of love or presence is the guiding energy of your thoughts that they become more creative and positive. A true gift!
Greg, when bringing awareness into a specific emotion to dissolve the emotion (emotional charge), do you recommend simultaneously feeling the Innerbody (or even the breath) at the same time?
@quantum1field Yes, maintaining an awareness of the inner body while feeling into the emotion would be the desired state. However, I have found that the emotion typically creates so much of a disturbance and it is challenging to feel the inner-body. In my own spiritual growth I found that maintaining awareness of the breath was key to navigating the emotion without resisting it. Then as I grew in presence power was I able to sense the inner-body while in the middle of a pain-body attack.
Greg one last question: In regards to dissolving a specific emotion, Tolle says "feel the energy of the emotion" and "feel it fully"; and you say, "Bring your awareness into it."
How do you do that without becoming identified with it?
@quantum1field It all depends on your state of presence. If you become identified with the emotion, then your state of presence is not strong enough to keep your awareness/attention separated from the emotion. So as you continue to grow in presence power, see how you are able to be aware of the emotional disturbances without being completely taken over by them. When Eckhart says to feel the emotion fully, he is pointing to an experience of no resistance, which equals feel fully.
Greg, is it necessary to have a quiet mind, with only a few thoughts, in order to be Present?
When driving to work in the morning, and even while in the shower, my mind is already full of thoughts about the days events. During work my mind is crowded with, and I am lost in, thoughtsand sometimes taken over by stress and anxiety. Will focusing attention on the inner body enable one to be just as Present even while numerous thoughts are running through the mind?
Having a quiet mind does help to deeply experience presence, but to be present does not require that the mind is void of thought. Thoughts will always be generated by the mind. So it is not a matter of thought or no thought, but rather how are those thoughts energized. The goal is to withdraw negative energy from your thoughts. The less negativity, the more present. In my experience, focusing on the inner-body does withdraw energy from my thoughts. My thoughts are more creative also!
Good question. When we focus our attention to the inner-body it does bring our awareness into the present moment and break being completely identified with the thought or emotion. If the negative emotion is strong we will still experience that anger or sadness, but at least it has not completely taken us over. The key is to grow in presence power when the negative emotion is not triggered. Then your presence will enable you to connect to the inner-body once the negative emotion has erupted.
Thank you for that explanation about dissolving a difficult emotion, regarding the lunch room experience. That method you gave was what I needed when I ran across clip.
