PS: This version is actually the remixed version from the 1970-75 Box set. There are actually two other versions: The Single version (which is the same as has been released on the Genesis Archives Box set) and one released on a Charisma Compilation, "One More Chance", back in the early 70's. That version is like the single version, except there are no harmonized vocals during the guitar intro (a relatively minor difference, I admit).
I love when Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins sing together.

I agree, Peter sang like Cat Stevens, but is a beautiful song of the great Genesis

Sorry but Peter Gabriel is the one singing lead on this and Phil is doing backing.

Thanks for posting this version. I always wondered why they faded-in the intro on the boxset version.

@twostikks1 Actually, the vocals are in the intro...it's just harder to hear cos they're far back in the mix particularly with the original fade in.

Interesting single. Early Phil Collins lead vocal. The song is actually loosely about his drumming audition for the band.

@mnaran - Wow, THAT is something I never knew. So "Happy The Man" is actually Phil Collins....?

@twostikks1 Phil Collins > Peter Gabriel =D
Sorry but Collins seems to deliver the vocals better than Peter in my opinion.
