I rememmber when I first got this film, I was about 5 years old and just like Dumbo, I didnt understand this scene and why his mom and dumbo were crying, but what I do remember is whatching this with my mom and seeing her cry for about 15 minutes and then not seeing dumbos mom for the rest of the film.

There's nothing wrong with crying. People who cry at this scene are simply showing their humanity. Anything that humbles us and takes us back to a time of innocence, a time when we weren't too proud or too cool to be with our mothers (and fathers), a time when they were our heroes and our everything, is a good thing. So don't be shamed about crying tears of sadness or tears of joy, cause it's good to return to innocence.

@LoveLennon28 The reason why Timothy the mouse took Dumbo away from his mother was because he knew that the animals in the circus were enslaved: he looks around at the other animals with their children, and sees the bars on the cages with them, he even shed's a tear because of it. he was the only animal that was there willingly and he feels sorry for the other animals. he can't help Dumbo beyond forcing him to let go of his mother as he is too young to understand that he is in captivity.
