i hate surgeons. they suck so much, all they give you is uncertain clueless answers to all your questions. they will never give you a definate answer about anything because they can't. i would never even think about becoming a surgeon no matter how much money they payed me. i could ask a rock and get just as good of advise as i could get from a "surgeon". they dont know anything about the effects of surgeries on individuals like me.

"As little as 80 000$"? that sounds like quite the salary. In Sweden a legitimised doctor with a special field has an entrance wage of maybe 30 000$, a country with higher taxes than the USA.

I'm highly educated, but I don't like to call my self smart because there are other people with the same amount of IQ as a goat. It's incoherent. Comprende. Oh, btw, I was kidding, I don't make that amount of money. Why? Because I'm not even a doctor. I'm a 15 year old male, sitting behind a HP Pavilion g (G7) series and evaluating comments. Yes, I'm on a horse.

EVERYONE HERE is FORGETTING what an insane amount of money malpractice insurance is, that taxes are around 45%, and that on average you have about $350,000 in debt from the loans that you took out. So count what you are left with.. lets say you make $300k, take about half of that for taxes, another 80-120k for malpractice insurance, and then all your other expenses. Doctors make a DECENT LIVING, BUT THEY DON'T RETAIN IT. I hate snobby people that are envious of doctors who makes "a lot" Thats bs

Many people don't know the amount of insurence doctors and surgeons must carry . Malpractice suits can get pretty expensive :)

Average wage in USA is maybe 30-40% higher compared to Europe . US doctors are paid 3 times more than European Doctors but US healthcare is much worse than European healthcare.

you'll see interviews with european GP's saying they make 80k per year, but you're forgetting currency exchange - thats like 160,000US

in canada they still make slightly less than US but just by a hair

GP's will make 150+, surgeons go all the way up to like 400k

in either case you're pretty much good when it comes to your monies

"Scrubs" is a comedy soap-opera. The people on "Scrubs" looks like a "Medical Assistant".  If you want to work in an environment where people talk to each other about what they did last night or week and laugh between working with patients; a medical assistant may be more of what you want to do as a way to make money.

Geography has a lot to do with how much you will earn in any specialty. To get a good idea you should check local advertisements seeking specialists in the field you are interested in.
