  • They have it on coke machine now I bet I can break it given enough time and it I see them apart are how they work

  • Finland, land where we like to keep our shit secure, literally. Sometimes even outhouses filth-containers have abloy locks.

  • The Abloy disk tumbler lock was invented by a Finn named Emil Henriksson. He acted as a office machine mechanic, and got the idea for the disk tumbler lock of a cash register. The lock was patented 1919 and manufacturing began the same year.

  • One peculiar thing in Finnish doors is that they all open outwards. That is required by the law. It is because of fire safety; the occupant must be able to escape from an apartment in fire. One side effect in this is that the Finnish doors are very difficult to kick in. They are usually made from oak, ash or other stout wood and have stout rabbets. A steel door with Abloy lock is almost impossible to break in unless you have an angle cutter or oxygen torch.

  • @Hagen823 This has an interesting side effect. If you watch (search Finnish Police Bear-Group) the documentary program about finnish "bear team" (our national SWAT/CT unit) they show them training rappelling down a building side. Team head mentions that they haven't used rapelling in SWAT tasks, but SWAT officers have rapelled down to a balcony to open a door from the inside for paramedics. They said it was just easier, faster and less costly, than the firedepartment breaking the door.

  • The only housing in Finland which the state funds are prisons, army barracks and job-related housing for civil servants. Yes, they are Abloy equipped. Many Finns, however, do live in council houses, which are not funded by state, but by town or parish. They too have Abloy locks. Those who own their homes, also tend to have Abloy locks. I had mine installed already during the construction phase, so I don't know its actual price because constructors tend to get them cheaper than private buyers

  • Yes, it is especially nasty to live in Finland and forget the keys inside. Usually, if you live in a block of flats or condo, the janitor will have a king key to let you in, but most janitors charge an extra fee for it.

  • There are two options, 6 mm drill bit or a special decoder tool. :)

  • i dont know why it is like it is but even all the small old cottages and so on have abloy locks in Finland.

  • @The1337pwnag3 So you say all the house locks in finland are abloy? Interesting. How much do they cost? Are finns more willing to spend on locks? In america a standard (very pickable) deadbolt lock is 10-25 us dollars. The $10 ones are not as pretty as the $25 dollars ones they are the same inside. These are on 97% of houses.

  • @zacthebold Yes, all house in here finland has ABLOY, and no one think about money, country buy it..

  • @romansson100 Are you saying that the finnish government pays for the peoples house locks? Why would they do such a thing like that I wonder?

  • @zacthebold cuz this is finland.. live here like 6 mouths u will know lot about us..

  • @romansson100 Do they pay to fix everything in your house? Does the government own all the houses? Sounds a bit creepy to an american like me.

  • @zacthebold I'm finnish and everyone I know has abloy lock in their door... Everyone.. Believe me.

  • @rommi85 I don't doubt it. But does the government really pay for locks? Why and how?

  • @zacthebold I dont think that government pays?? who said that? Here in Finland lives about 5.3 million people and everyone have abloy, that's fun :D

  • @rommi85 Read my other comments. This other finnish guy said he didn't know how much an abloy lock cost in finland because "country buy it". In american the cheapest abloy door lock is 180 USD. Compared to 10-25 USD for a common pin tumbler type. Do you know how much one costs in finland?

  • @zacthebold :D Contry dont buy anything, The president get everything :D:D Umm Abloy classic is 88€ = 120$ And Abloy exec is 130€ = 160$.. And I have never seen cheap pin tumbler lock in lockstores in FInland.

  • @rommi85 Sounds like finns aren't cheap when it comes to locks. You guys probably build better houses so that goes hand and hand. Is that the price for an entire mortise lock, or just the cylinder?

  • @zacthebold Cylinder :D The whole classic lock (cheapest) is 220€..You cant kick or bumb finnish door in cause it is just impossible, only way in are windows (Those are usually 3-4 layers[Glass] thick) And our houses are modern, what comes to the construction, Concrete or bricks are usual. Wood is not anymore, or well in contryside it is usual but the walls are 25-40 cm thick (9.8 in-15.7 in) So that tells something..

  • @rommi85 As someone who has kicked in many doors(in abandoned factories, not people's houses) I find it hard to believe you couldn't kick in a door that is made of wood. How is that accomplished? Are the frames reenforced with steel? Sounds like your houses are nice. You wouldn't believe some of these architectural abortions we live in called mobile homes AKA trailers. Despite the name they are not. The walls are so thin you can hear people taking a shit in the other room.

  • @zacthebold not everyone has an abloy lock on their house, majority of people do though and 99% of apartment blocks have abloy locks... the doors on apartment blocks usually open outwards and have very thick rabbets that prevent them from getting kicked in, so the only way to get in is to cut it down or break out the hinges, both take long enough to wake up the resident

but that doesn't help much, since in finland self-defense is illegal

  • @rommi85I am in America, and I want to get an abloy deadbolt for my home. They are expensive locks, but from all the research I have done, they are the best. Do all homes there in finland have abloy?

  • @Frostbyte380 Yeah, read my other comments. And yes every house has abloy. Buy one, I think that in usa are lockshops that sells Abloy locks..

  • @rommi85 Yes, there is a locksmith in Bay area California that sells Abloy deadbolts. $215 US for double keyed deadbolt. Expensive but well worth it. Abloy takes pride in their quality. Medeco has too many problems at the moment. Only thing though, I guess the door jam should be metal or reinforced to prevent a kick-in attack. With a weak door jam, the best deadbolt in the world is useless.

  • @The1337pwnag3 yeah i don't like me either. FACT

  • @The1337pwnag3 so we can say we locked the door in court when someone breaks in and we wont get jailed for removing their face with a 12 gauge :)

  • Abloys are the shit. I love these locks

  • И чо?

  • Old lock, there is better models out there. Still hard to pick, but breaking it and that style is quite easy.

  • @The1337pwnag3 I noticed that Finland have abloy everywhere i just didn't know if it was universal, Also Your right about the american locks comment, Funny but true.

  • cool lock

  • It's fairly easy to pick, i'v done it many times with my homemade pick.

There is asfar as i know only one who was able to pick these, he made pick named "vempele", he was a perv who picked his way to houses and masturbated next to sleeping woman, sounds nuts? yeah haha.

  • @aq2finland - Yup, I remember it being talked in the news police report..

I remember it took a while for them to figure out how it worked, but they did manage to open Alboy doors with it without leaving marks visible to the eye on lock.

He's in jail now, so I bet there are lots of Finnish inmates who might know how to pick Abloys. Of course Abloy, for their reputations sake, are probably gonna make something to prevent using that method. btw "Vempele" = Gadget, roughly translated..

  • @BigJay604 yeah no wonder 99% of finnish locks are manufactered by abloy, i live here so i know. could you send me some information how to pick abloy locks...

  • best way to open any pad lock or those circular steering wheel locks is blast it with liquid nitrogen and tap it with an hammer this really works just be careful using the liquid N

  • @paul417791 This doesn't work. Have you ever tried it?

  • @Dooobs lol trust me it works it shatters any carbon steel

  • @paul417791 not everyone has liquid nitrogen, you know. and it doesn't really work as well as you think

  • ydinsaaste, Exec, Sento, Disklock and Disklock Pro are all pickable, and the Protec has been suspected for a couple of years now.

  • Cut the shackle with a 30" boltcutter.

  • @perto75 Why the shackle when the housing it much easier as it's brass? You can easily do the housing with a smaller one which causes less attention when transporting.

Go for the weaker link. Sometimes people forget this. Using very secure shrouded locks etc. and a thin chain. Why attack the lock/shackle them?

True it may require a few more cuts but the brass don't damage your bolt cutter while the shackle can cause dents in it.

  • i use my mini drill to open those kinds of abloy locks ^^

  • Abloy Classic and Profile locks are possible to pick. Exec,Protec;Disclock and new Sento are not.I have been working as locksmith about twenty years in Finland and I have two cases where a burgler opened Abloy Classic sylinder with a pick.Come to Finland and find a old guy who has been in jail in Finland and ask what is "vempain" or "vempele".And then you have found right tool. Its guite rare and needs skillfull hands to operate it.

  • Just to clarify, no matter how crazy this sounds, it is true. A man invented the ABLOY Classic's lockpick sometime around the 80s, unless I'm mistaken while he was sitting his time in prison. It is known as 'Vempele', and requires a steady hand and a mind of steel.

  • it is a dick detainer lock you need a dick detainer pick to pick it !!! you can get one cheep off deal extreme if you still want to pick it that is

  • I'm guessing no tension required...just pick it.

  • VERY COOL! wow! stellar example of an old classic profile..

    beautiful.
