I own a TBSS. Stock it's a shade under 400 HP. I put a Turbo Charger on it, and it is a beast. The AWD makes the thing quick as shit off the line, and the turbo keeps it quick on the high RPMs. I think the lightning pulled away because it is a lighter vehicle.

@carlsoto1747 Actually the lightning stock curb weight is 4670 lbs and the stock curb weight on the tbss is 4552 so depending on the driver they should be ideal in weight and stock hp is almost identical

Well I have to admit that the t/a did win on the last two runs, but it doesn't mention if the t/a had any mods cuz for sure the lightning was bone stock. I have an 04' Lightning with only CAI, 6lb. pulley, and and its superchipped and I've taken on t/a and ss camaros.They're from some stupid car club called GM legacy (gaymans legacy) LOL!

yeah i have a tb ss and would challenge just about any lightning out there. mine is awd and i have and intake, exhaust, and a tune. im running upper 12's in the 1/4. all mods were less than $1500

Stock motors in these trucks can go 140ish but once ya start upping the boost and adjusting the tune....it can get dangerous. The rods are weak from the factory. Unless his tune has very low timing...he may wanna stop racing the truck up to high speeds.

It's not limited. The only thing that would stop the truck from going faster is the rev limiter. But if your redlining it going that fast, the motor will give out long before that would happen. I'm saying, when you start upping the boost and timing... the stock motor will go BOOM in OD.

I bought it new in 2002, put on 37,000 trouble free miles, 6 passes at the track , best et. was 13.59 with cheapo MAC intake and Magnaflow cat back.

I just added +6lb pulley with the full C&L intake, pleneum on out. Diablo pulley tune.

Should I run a cooler plug?

Just looking for your thoughts. It won't be much fun anymore if I'm worried about tossing a rod or two.

That by no means dictates Chevrolet building a better engine. The LS2 only makes 15hp more stock than the Lightning. Not to mention the Trailblazer has a bigger motor and the Lightning is heavier and less aerodynamic.
