You know countries may say we as Americans are the scum of the earth, but I believe that no one else can compare the history and culture that we have all come from. That is why a lot of us still have pride in this country. It's that history that makes us unique from the rest of the world.
@wrsipes - What a great comment! My grandparents lived, and are buried in Gettysburg. It really is a very special area- I know exactly what you mean by the "someone else" comment!
DOW two is actually so much better compared to the first one. The graphics are insane, as well as the brand new marines are awesome! If you would like that game for free of charge, you can easily download the complete game over at DOW2DownloadXcom (replace X with . ). When my friends and I did, and it works great!
i remember walking the Battlefield when i was 10-im 44 now and still get the same feeling. Been to every battlefield east of the mississippi-not the same
It is written the Official Reports list the casualities after the Battle of Gettysburg as: Union 2,834 Killed, 13,713 wounded and 6,428 missing, a total of 23,190. Confederate losses are tallied at 2,592 Killed, 12,709 wounded, and 5,150 missing. This is the best caculations the compilers of the Official Records could make. The Confederate numbers are known to be inaccurate because several of the units that were heavily involved in the fighting did not report any missing soldiers.
The latest research reveals a larger casualty list than previously known, piticularly with regard to Confederated, whose casualties appear to number more than 23,000 with 4,649 dead. With ongoing efforts to reexamine the numbers a fair statement placing the total number of fatalities at Gettysburg in excess of 10,000 according to latest Historians who are studying this.
"It's a good time of day. I always do enjoy this time just before the dawn. When all this is over, I shall miss it very much...I didn't mean the fighting, General." (General Robert Edward Lee, CSA)
Today, July 3rd, 2009 is the 146th anniversary of the closing day of battle at Gettysburg. At the moment I am posting this at, 3:53 PM, the Confederate assault of that day would've ended, and a calmness would've begun to settle over the battlefield. Let us never forget the men who fell on that field so many years ago.
Been to Gettysburg 55 times-yeah-i keep count. I love when this soundtrack was made-IT FITS. Anyone feel like theyve been there before? i need to know.-tired of feeling like a freak.
You mean Deja Vu. Oh yes, I get this a lot when on Civil War battlefields. It's like you have been there before, but you know you haven't. This happens if your receptive to the what went on there, nothing to feel like a freak about , lots of people are like that. When my sister-in -law went to tour the battlefield she said she got the feeling of extreme utter sadness, could not finish the tour because of being so upset and crying. I think something got to her. It was her first visit also.
I get the same feeling. I don't know much about reincarnation, but if I feel like I was reincarnated from some Federal soldier. At Gettysburg, I feel like I've traversed the fields before, seen the blood on the grass, the smoke on the horizon, and the bodies in the fields. Just a couple weeks ago, I spent the night there at Lee's headquarters. I went outside that morning and just stood. I felt like I'd seen it before. I know, I'm a freak, but its just what I feel.

question: i'm not putting you down in anyway but what is so fascinating about the civil war? there is like 1 in a thousand boys who are born absolutely obsessed with the civil war and do not understand it-------------------
It is one of the things that made this nation what it is, much like the revolution before it. The war still has profound consequences for us all, and the questions and issues that lead to it are as relevant today as they were then.
yeah, I wish they weren't relevant. When can we put civil rights behind us...all of humanity is equal but different...crimony!
so many God Damned wars in the name of being stupid arrogant human beings who loooove money. Ever wonder why NYC is such a big hub for business...bec the south lost in the civil war. that war had as much to do with freeing slaves as it did with money and big business in America. God Bless America for worshiping the mighty green back. slaves got to be free.worth it!
Why the CRAP did my comment get thumbed down six times!!...I clearly said I wasn't putting you down. and there is supposed to be an 'I' before the "do not understand it----" part. I wasn't saying the civil war buffs don't understand the civil war...i know they do.
I could not have said it better. My Great-Great-Uncle was at Culp's Hill with the 37th Virginia. Abraham Lincoln said it all when he said, "The last full measure of devotion"
Does any one know where i can find tabliture or a video showing some one how to play this? I would really love to know.
