It's ridiculous or even completely and utterly ignorant to assume that a man wrote the bible a hundred or more years after the birth of Jesus.
more than 1 person wrote the bible.
There is no possible way of writing something like that , especially by more than 10 people , because the people would be executed and their writings burned , unless the whole Jewish community suddenly died or fell ill.
Writing the bible wouldn't have been possible if the people around them didn't believe it.
So what's harder to believe, some angry stupid Palestinians wrote a book or to in the bible, and then some Christians got together and chose what would be included (happened), or that Jesus is the son of god, born of a virgin, can raise the dead, and also became a zombie?
@kives1985 So Palestinians moved to Aramaic Israel , settled down , watched a star (alignment of two planets) , and then hundreds of years later after they died , they wrote about it?
Uh, yeah, that whole baby Jesus story wasn't found in the Gospel of Mark, the original gospel that was probably written closest to the point where the hypothetical person lived.
Also, there's always strange shit going on up in the heavens that you could use to claim, oh this is what this is. That's just a post hoc rationalization.
this is one of those books that would seriously be difficult to make a movie of, and making it anywhere near as awesome as the book would require an incredible director, and a ridiculous budget. hut holy crap i want this to be made so badly, the thing that sucks though is that hollywood will probably just make it about violence, heroics and adventure and just leave the Godly parable out of it somehow. but oh well, i just hope someone makes it and does a good job, anyways peace out
An allegory is an allegory and not every little thing in it can be taken literally. That's what makes it an allegory and not history. Did not Jesus use parables to illustrate truths? Every good teacher does, CS Lewis said when a child asked him about why he made Aslan a lion ,"I was dreaming a lot about lions at the time." Don't replace your Bible with Narnia and you'll be ok. Parents don't strain at gnats. I read Narnia and I grew up to be a missionary not a witch.
Interesting. I'm not sure... but I'll give it a chance. It was kafkaesque and abstract allegory, but they've made it an action movie... whatever. I'll give it a chance.
But there is a place other then heaven and earth, hell. There could be other dimensions with worlds like narnia, but we wont know until we are in heaven. But that doesn't matter, the chronicles of narnia is a great christian book that has lead many people to Christ and C. S. Lewis is maybe the greatest christian author in the millenium (maybe not but he must be in the top 5 atleast).
"If someone disproved that life could form on it's own , then there is no other possibility except something that we have never studied before."
Not really. There could be, you know, aliens or five gods, or two gods, or 72 very super intelligent cats.
However, nobody has "disproved" the theory of evolution. Based on the evidence, it's the best explanation there is for explaining the earth's biodiversity.
And you really can't "disprove" that life could form on it's own.
And disproving all of science doesn't really disprove that life could form on its own.
The theory of evolution is not the theory of abiogenesis.
Here's a thought, if you have to go around not accepting a bunch of scientific theories for your worldview to be true, than maybe your worldview isn't true. Based on the evidence, it's probably more than likely not.
"Evolution is change over time , via natural selection."| Evolution is just changes in allele frequencies over populations. Not every change affects fitness. There's a hell of a lot of evidence for evolution. there's none for the version in the bible's version.
Do you know what "transitional fossils" are? Answer fossil. Do you know what clothes are? Answer, the reason why people were able to migrate to colder climates.
Still, there's a lot of reasons why I don't believe in god, and they have nothing to do with the big bang, the theory of evolution, or any other scientific theory.
Also, it's amazing that you'd accept the idea that Christ existed, when all evidence given about him is more than thirty years after the fact. See John Frume.
cheesy!!! I KNOW IT IS NOT!!! CUZ I WENT THRU ALMOST THE SAME THING--ON A HIGHWAY--BACK IN 1999---GOD HAD ME TO SEE THIS PREVIEW--CUZ FINALLY I FOUND SOME CONFORMATION OF WHAT I WENT THRU WITH JESUS--SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BIBLE--IT STILL HAPPENING--WE JUST DONT KNOW ALL THE PPL WHO WENT THRU IT..I AM ONE OF THEM & WHEN IT IS TIME IT WILL BE IN MY BOOK & MAYBE IN A MOVIE AS WELL---GOD WILL OPEN THE DOOR--WHEN HE WANTS ME TO WRITE ABOUT THE JOURNEY I WAS ON...MAN IT WAS POWERFUL!!
I agree. But Chronicles of Narnia? Before you label that one as cheesy you might want to read up on the cost to make that movie and the money the movie brought in. Because your opinion will look smaller after that. Worhty opinion, just smaller. ;-) but again I agree about the cheesy Christian movies out there. "Facing The Giants" though is a good one. I have none religious friends who loved that one.
There's nothing Christian about the Chronicles of Narnia. This film is no different than Harry Potter. Please do some research on the most famous fake Christian ever by the name of C.L Lewis.
Fake Christian? And you are who? There is no person who is truly superior enough to know who is a Christian and who is not. Like somehow your saved and he isn't. Nonsense to think you know if his a fake Christian. But if you claim it's your opinion then that's understandable. As my opinion would say that he is far from being a fake Christian. Read "Mere Christianity" by C.S Lewis. One of the most famous Christian apologetic writers.
"Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?" (1 Cor 6:2)
"Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?" (1 Cor 6:3)
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Just don't pretend David that you know for a fact if someone is Christian or a fake. I'll leave God be the judge of that. Not try to be a God and be a judge of someone I only know through books. I don't know C.S Lewis soul, neither do you.
C.S. Lewis made the Chronicles of Narnia so Christian that it's contrived so. He also wrote the Screwtape Letters, one of the better Christian novels of the 20th century. What on earth are you talking about?
I think it has to do more with budget than anything else. Most don't have the multimillion dollar budget to make a great movie. As for me, I have a dream to see P.P. made on the same scales as LOTR and other mass productions . . . that would be awsome.
reminds me of lord of the rings, in a good way! :)

where is narnia?
there is no suffering in heaven , therefore it isn't in heaven.
It's not on earth , because there is no place on earth called narnia and has talking animals.
so from our conclusion , chronicles of narnia is a blasphemy.
I used the first verse of the bible to prove it.
alexross8 3 years ago
Narnia is just a peice of fiction, an allegory of sorts, as I understand it, with morals and views which parallel Christianty.
fusionlotus 2 years ago
Exactly... Chronicles of Narnia shouldn't be called a Christian fiction if it contains blasphemies.
alexross8 2 years ago
How does that make it blasphemy?
sorenkierkegaard2008 2 years ago
Saying that there is a place beyond the heavens and the earth is blasphemy.
Thats only if people believe it.
But we all should know that it's supposed to be fictional.

I don't think we need to be paranoid about the wording, dear. It's a good allegory of a Christian's walk.
SusieArviso 2 years ago
Alex Ross, you seem to have a hard time telling the difference between pretend and real.
Let me give you an example of something that's pretend in the Chronicles of Narnia: a talking lion.
Now let me give you an example of something that's pretend in the bible: Jesus rising from the dead. Zombies are pretend.
kives1985 1 year ago
@kives1985
I know something pretend too.
Something exploding from nothing.
A finite point in infinity.
Amino acids and proteins coming together to form a cell , without any regards for the process required or the laws of nature for that matter.
Apes migrating up north whilst losing fur and evolving into humans in an Ice age.
Transitional fossils , which keep turning out to be fakes.
Flat universe theory , which cannot be tested without mathematical error.
alexross8 1 year ago
You need to learn the actual science, because everything you just spotted off about was completely made up in your head.
"Something exploding from nothing."
Do you understand that if god created the universe, then that would mean god was more complex than the universe? Well then, what created god?
I know, people.
kives1985 1 year ago
@kives1985
God is as he was and will be.
He is the same as he is today , as he was 5,000 years ago.
He made the universe , that doesn't mean he has to be bound by it's laws.
alexross8 1 year ago
Oh, and disproving the theory of evolution and the big bang theory would not "prove" god.
God does not win by default. You have to provide evidence for god, and frankly, you don't have any that's convincing.
kives1985 1 year ago
@kives1985
I didn't say disproving evolution would make God true.
If someone disproved that life could form on it's own , then there is no other possibility except something that we have never studied before.
The only possibility would be God or gods.

Evolution is change over time , via natural selection.
Abiogenesis is the philosophical idea that mankind happened to spring up from nothing.

I didn't say I didn't believe in evolution.
I believe animals can evolve.
There is evidence for the bible.
Israel , worldwide flood stories , Hebrew people , and millions upon millions of rocks and fossils which scream "FLOOD".
There are engravings of "Dinosaurs" in detail .
An ark was found . Noah's ark feasibility study is also accurate.

Jesus Christ did exist.
Jupiter and Venus came into alignment , only once in human history around the time that Jesus was born.
The bible gives us detail that a great "Light" was over top of bethlehem
Jupiter and Venus were exactly over top Bethlehem.
It would seem pretty weird for the grandson of the grandson of the guy that saw the alignment just made up all of the story of Jesus.
