first of all, its not just youth out at burning man. there is a census every year and the average age is the mid/late 30s. and while i understand your point about a level of irony and possibly hypocrisy in some of the people there, you're just picking on an easy target b/c its tens of thousands of people out at this event. i dont know if you've been there before, but i think that if you had, you might think about it differently. and seriously, whats the purpose of self righteous finger pointing?
I went there the first time at 44, have not been back (cannot afford it). Truthfully, there are many there that go to get high, but I got something different. I learned a lot, shared a lot, gave a lot, and felt a part. Unlike our social system where a person is fighting to raise in some type of measured social metric (wealth, religion, acumen). Where sharing is a sign of weakness, unbiased oppression a sign of strength.
can you blame anyone for wanting to escape reality for a week? lighten up francis. if the freaks wanna let off steam let em'. I'm only jealous that I couldn't join this time around.

No, don't worry about the failing educational system, don't be concerned about the loss of jobs, pollution, the destruction of mountains in West Virginia, that stuff is just to hard to think about.

China and the US are EXPANDING coal burning, KILLING plug-in cars, REFUSING to resume production of solar power and all-electric trains.
The oil industry, paid for by U.S. government and acting in our name, continues killing innocents in Nigeria, Afganistan, Myanmar, and hundreds of other places...

Not just the fearsome toll in U.S. troops and our paid mercenaries (hired killers and paid assassins from Blackwater), but maimed and killed from both "sides" (if the mess in Afghan can be said to have sides, or if the Nigerian "pissants" are regarded as "the enemy").
While there is no health care, no clean energy policy, the energy of the youth is spent in...stupid exercises in the desert.

Use that same energy in confronting the paid Republican health-care saboteurs, and you might gain some respect.
FINALLY! check out the onslaught of terrific FIREworks. And the Man's left wrist starts to flame... hopefully the BURN will be in the next 8 min segment, PART 5, we await thee!
